For those that aren't familiar with the Harry Potter lore the Hogwarts Legacy game is based on, there's a spell that can be cast on people's brains, extracting memories from them like using a cd burner to make an at-home copy of your favorite music album, and the fully extracted memories look exactly like that. It's likely that book was enchanted to be a repository of those memories like the records rack in an old-fashioned jukebox. Once such a memory contacts the surface of a pool of water, like on that pedestal, it's ready to play as a VR video type deal, which is done by the viewer effectively giving themselves a swirly in the liquid memory, and it would probably be ready to play about when Silvervale started to question this clip's SFW status.
