He's either a smuggler or works with the cartel in some sort. The story seems on track with the leaks from almost ten years ago about it being being a drug running/thieves story with a Bonnie and Clyde type theme.

What if jason gets an offer to work with feds then we have a choice to make?

Idk how it works in the UK, but in the US a lot of imformants are REAL criminals. Addicts, people facing serious charges that the feds can use to force them into that position under duress. Actual cops going undercover is rare since the risk is huge compared to just forcing real criminal to snitch for their freedom. So realistically if the FIB has some serious dirt on Jason, he'd likely do whatever they want to a point, which could breed conflict if Lucia becomes more powerful during the course of the game and catches FIB attention.

maybe its like the movie departed where he raises the kid to join the police force to be an inside man, also bryan looks alot like frank costello

I think if either one of them is going to wind up as a police informant, it'll be Lucia and it'll have to do with her getting out of prison.

Is Jason an Informant for the Police?

Maybe he ends up an undercover cop by the end of the game, after his and Lucia’s paths diverge.

Calling it now. There are three playable characters. Mainly jason and lucia, oike 80% of the time. But this cop is part of it as well.. final big mission, you as the cop catch up to jason and Lucia in a cop chase. You make the choice, shoot jason, lucai shoots you... Lucia lives and thats how the post game work, jist you as lucia.


Or the other way, cop shoots lucia, jason shoots cop, and you play as jason after credits

My theory: the cop will be a third character only to be played for a small section, similar to Jack Kelso in LA Noire. Jason grew up in crime and worked in military based on the Rockstar website anyway so the cop theory for Jason seems bunk.

I believe you put it best. I do think I'd they wanted an undercover element it would be a side character always there or maybe just someone who is a snitch bur not a protagonist

I just don’t think an undercover would be strong-arming dudes as some loan shark muscle. Personally I reckon Lucia is an asset similar to Niko or the trio in 5 to eg. IAA, FIB, ULP.
I think the Stefanie scene from the first trailer could be a deal being established prior to her release. Look at all the descriptions on the website surrounding Jason on the VI website. It sounds like Lucia screwing a quiet life up for him and dragging him into whatever events unfold.

Theory's based on just two trailers is mad and utterly stupid.

It's such a dumb theory, it just boggles my mind... You know what undercover cops don't do? They don't murder innocent civilians and their work collages. And that's what 99% of GTA is all about. You do that in every single mission.

My biggest point of contention in all of these weird fan theories is:

betrayal can happen without the involvement of law enforcement. You CAN have Jason or Lucia betray each other if you REALLY wanted it to happen in a way that's at least a smidge more subtle than "and then Jason turns out to be a cop and the big crime is stopped and the city is safe" (?????)

Jason could be a police informant, perhaps to report on Raul Batista or Brian's drug ring. Jason was an ex-military man, more precisely a paratrooper in the army. He says he wants a simple life, if he becomes a criminal and starts killing people and selling drugs, that won't be a simple life because he could be killed at any moment, so I believe that Jason could be a police informant or even an undercover cop.

The way he carries himself the way he carries his firearm the way the conversation goes between the police officers I do think he was a cop that has gone dark and why he's gone dark is because of her he decided that she's worth more than his badge and she might find out about it later and it may be a part of the confrontation but I do think he is a cop that hasn't turned himself back in yet and when I look at all of his showcases it seems more and more like that in my personal opinion that doesn't mean it's true that could be his military lifestyle rubbing off but he does give me law enforcement vibes

It mentions in Jason's bio he did a stint in the Army to try and get out of the bad neighborhood he grew up in, only to get out and go right back into the shit.

My question is how convenient that she is the first to fall from that window and he is right behind almost buying more time for her? If he is a cop then the part where the cops are searching the building and find no one except him “buying her more time” then he gets “arrested” she goes back in there to try to save him he somehow manages to escape and she goes to jail? Just a thought

It could be that Lucia is undercover or that they both become moles or something similar. Of course it could be that there is a THIRD protagonist that is a walking talking spoiler.

The ankle monitor does mean that Lucia is out on probation, she's not free and clear, sonit very well could be a John Marston situation whether Lucia knows about it or not.

Most likely he’s a undercover FIB (the FBI) in vice city investigating corruption within the police department and Lucia might be involved in a greater conspiracy

Plot twist Lucia betrays Jason in the end shooting him in the throat making Jason mute nd this years “Claude”

An undercover cop needs to behave like any other low life crook to maintain cover. Most GTA games always climax into betrayal.

It’s just stems from the common theme of every GTA game there’s a betrayal & What better betrayal is there than one of the main characters of the game being an undercover cop.

It also helps them play into the untapped idea of the original cops and robbers concept of the first grand theft auto games that they have been trying & failing to fully work into their GTA games in some way shape or form since the GTA series began.

I think that it is more logical for Lucia to be the undercover one, not that I think the theory holds any weight
