Chillingly iconic scene. It sucks that Kevin Spacey's career was ruined - either by others if he is innocent, or by himself if he is guilty. I know it sounds selfish, but I have always admired his acting and wish he were still making films.

Brads acting is upon the best ive seen in any film upon my short but enjoyed so far movie binges on the weekends. The lawyer for John saying if you don’t take his terms , you’ll never find both bodies.. is an absolute perfection of writing. Because mills would’ve never killed John if they didn’t let John ‘show them where they are’ . I loved this film. Any recommendations on more films I should see ? (: so far I’ve watched - the prestige, revenant, memento, seven , sunshine of the spotless mind, age of a adaline, interstellar(a lot), tenet (wanna rewatch) , infinity saga of marvel, the dark knight series, wolf of Wall Street, dune (didn’t understand it tbh), knives out .. and there’s more I can’t remember but would love recommendations. I wanna watch the blade runners

for me, that should be the ending, 'cz the last sins (wrath) not fulfill the list. he must be dead tho. but still, this movie is a masterpiece.

The music makes everything 10 times better

Whats disturbing is that Somerset has two reactions of abject horror within the span of 30 seconds after opening the box.

The first was due to shock and confusion at seeing the head of an innocent woman he had befriended.

The second was when he put all the pieces together, and realized that John Doe was going to win.

The second one hits a lot deeper, as Somerset had been burnt out from years of trying to stop evil men, but realizing thay he wasnt making a difference in the world. Now he has to witness once again an Evil man winning without being able to stop it.

If you haven't seen it yet, find the alternate OPENING version. I think the transition from "normal" life to Somerset's life is an awesome way to dive into Seven. They should have used that instead IMO.

By far and away (and severely underrated) one of the last great horror stories ever told

Imagine getting stopped by a gun shot while on an isolated road just to deliver a box, & as you are running you can hear shouting from the distance, minutes later ... the sound of multiple gun shots.
News will break headlines, to figure out that a severed head was in the box the whole time.

I remember the first time I watched this i already had a feeling that his wife's head was in the box anyway but that scene still caught me off guard. Its a weird feeling when you expect something to happen but still be blown away when it does. Such good acting i still get chills thinking about what happened to her

Perhaps the most nerve-clinching, nail-biting edge-of-your-seat climax to a film ever.
The cinematography is magnificent because there’s a strong focus on closeups on all three actors that makes you feel even more engrossed. The lighting and colour grading encapsulates the theme of death, sacrifice, envy, shock, despair, truth. There’s something about an open landscape, when a character meets their end in the desert or open field it’s visceral yet transcendental and ethereal. Spacey’s face when he’s staring at Mill’s, one side of his face covered in shade the other in sunlight but his expressions tell you that he is so ready for death. So chilling! The score is emphatic, it really hits the perfect tone, whilst elevating the story and climax to undeniable levels. After watching this brilliantly crafted thriller, you’ll never be the same again, this is the epitome of cinema.

If someone says to me that fight club or zodiac is better than this unforgettable masterpiece I truly think he doesn’t know shit about cinema
