The ending of Se7en haunts me to this day.

In Dark Knight, not knowing the people is exactly what makes the ferrys act so great, because they become avatars of the audience. It's probably one of the strongest scenes ever in cinema because it is completely relatable. If we had seen that Gotham's population is full of diehard criminals or just pushed down civilians, then nothing in the scene would have worked.

The big prisioner guy approaching the captain and using the clear threat of violance as he demands for the key ("give it to me and I will do what you should have done 10minutes ago") is a brilliant moment, because everyone assumes that he is going to kill the other boat (including the captain, who willing sacrifices his morals to live)...but then he throws key overboard, implying that he is a better person than the captain.

At the same time you have the civilians boat, where people are openly discussing voting to kill people, which is how the average civilian would act, unable to be ruthless. We even see children on the ferry, which logically would mean that the clear solution should be to blow the prisoners ferry, but no one can do it. The military guy, that should all be about pragmatism, who is trained to kill, is unwilling to just kill some random people and is prepared to give it to the "only guy who has the balls to do what needs to be done", just some average working Joe, which is us! We all assume that "yeah, we would kill them all to live!" but in reality only a sociopath (like Joker) thinks that we are capable of killing random people.

The bloated run time and the copy paste ending wrecked all the cool build up.

every second of this movie was reprehensible and bad. It convinced that literally ANYONE can play Batman. Not that Pattinson did a BAD job, but he was the embodiment of the morbius memes. Of all the people in cinema who have played Batman, Pattinson was definitely one of them. He wore the suit, he said the lines.

The actress who played Catwoman bought CW-level acting chops to the show. The movie swung wildly between a high production value and a low production value. Batman himself was too OP for being such a tiny guy. And his suit being bulletproof? I get it, bulletproof armor exists and Batman is rich. But there's NOTHING on this world that will stop a full mag from an automatic gun..thats aimed DIRECTLY at the armor COVERING YOUR HEAD..without leaving a mark on you. You might survive, maybe. But you will DEFINITELY be unconscious.

Of all the Batmen of all the Batman movies, Pattinson's Batman is the one closest to actually being a Metahero. Not just a hero, but a hero capable of surviving, and staying completely conscious while an automatic rifle pelts him in the head over and over..with his only protection being a thin piece of magic?

Did anyone noticed that both "The Batman" and "Se7en" events took place in seven days?
As we know watching the movie and ear from Bruce's first monologue, we know that the date of the mayor's murder happens during Halloween, the 31st of October.
In the last monologue, during the rescuing of the civilians, the date Bruce says at the beginning of it is November 6th.
Can't see that this is another nod to "Se7en"

I liked The Batman much, while having a lot of thoughts to be bad, mostly because of Pattinson. But he made a great job.

Now my problem is there won‘t be a sequel.

DC don‘t seems to like continuity. The Affleck-Batman did‘t even get an own movie. Then came Pattinson, just to „resurrect“ Keaton later. Now they are searching for the next Batman.
This is ridiculous.

While I agree this movie is great detective thriller , I think it's a bad Batman movie. Batman is supposed to be more than a man. As Nolan put it, theatricality and deception are powerful tools. But in this batman, there is nothing of that. He just walks into crime scenes through the front door with the cops. He is basically a guy in a bat suit.

The Batman is Seven, if seven was a mediocre unending movie, with a serious case of bad writing. And if you replace John Doe with a generic ass copy less deep and less compelling.

No The Batman didn’t perfect Seven, but it certainly showed us how good Seven is by comparison.

I didn’t hate The Batman, but also didn’t find it that good or interesting movie, and the lack of a clear vision is shown when the movie didn’t know how to end.

I do appreciate the themes treated in the batman. When he got electrocuted and fell in the water. It was a metaphor for rebirth and baptism. In that moment batman stopped being vengeance and became something more hopeful and justice. The Riddler is a representation of Cain, causing a flood to kill the innocent since he suffered and wanted others to suffer as well. The sins of our fathers is also a main theme in this movie. The batman redeems his father legacy while Catwoman tried to murder her father.

I hate this "The Batman" glazing. It's a mediocre movie at best. Just because it's well shot doesn't mean it's a good movie...so many people that don't watch movies are so easily brainwashed. I hate when movies take so much from a movie to the point that there's multiple people pointing it out. Be original. I can just watch Seven or even Zodiac. I really wanted to like the movie. I payed money to see it. Wasted my time. And got nothing out of it. Stop celebrating mediocrity. It's sad to see people accept the bare minimum. I promise there's better movies out there you just haven't watched them yet.

Great analysis. It’s probably worth noting the point of the crime scene investigations, especially the scene investigating Mayor Mitchell Jr.’s corpse was not about giving the audience clues. The point was to show the audience:
1. The police hate Batman’s guts (except Gordon) and just barely tolerate him.
2. Gordon’s partnership with Batman has taken a huge toll on his relationship with other police officers.
3. Commissioner Savage allowed Gordon to work with Batman, but he did so reluctantly.
4. Batman is mentally sharp.

Batman failed though. Riddler's biggest venture ultimately succeeds in flooding the city. The only thing that failed was Bruce avoiding the bomb letter because Alfred opened it by mistake. "World's greatest detective"😂
