wheres the rest of what happened to this?
ОтветитьFantastic but the Rover V6 is quite a wide angled v6 sadly which makes life awkward for install.
ОтветитьSuch a cool project... So refreshing to see something different to the usual bolt on turbo crap.
ОтветитьIs there a part 4 yet??
ОтветитьWhere is part 4? Can't find it
ОтветитьThe colour is the gift that keeps giving aggghh
Ответить"Is that a shit idea?" 😂🤣 yeah it is but it’s your car so who cares 😎
ОтветитьBeen waiting for more Allegro. This is going to be sooo much fun. As for the cider brake light? Hhhmmmm, maybe not. . .
ОтветитьUpdate on this project please Jonny
ОтветитьLove the Allegro. I learned to drive and passed my test in the same colour car, and I thought it was a lovely drive.
Ответитьawesome. i love following this project. its so great.
ОтветитьWhat’s happening with this???
ОтветитьI absolutely LOVE this project! I’m a big car fan, always have been, but never really understood the technical and engineering side of cars. But this project, along with Jonnys superb explanations and presenting, have helped me so much to understand more of the inner workings for a car! Thank you! We need another update!!!!! P.s I am watching all your videos from oldest to newest since discovering you about a month or two ago. LOVE this channel!
ОтветитьNext update plz...
ОтветитьAny update on this , honestly my perfect giggle machine once finished
ОтветитьEagerly awaiting the next episode! The brake light idea is genius, I hope you stick with it.
I bought an 1100 (ado16) as my first car & project. Fully rebuilt the 1098 but this series makes me want to engine swap it.
What's happened to this project. It seems to have gone all quiet, Jonny.
ОтветитьWhere is part 4 then ?
Ответитьmore than one year ago Jonny. I know you have been busy with the events and all but really curious if you managed to progress on this... :)
ОтветитьThis will be some project when it gets completed. Enjoying watching this.
Rover used their own TorSen ( Torque Sensing ) differential in several of their PG1 Gearboxes. Most of their own T-Series Turbocharged cars like the 620ti had them. I believe the Honda V6 engine Rovers like the 827 had the PG2 Boxes fitted. I noted the tapered differential bearings when the Gearbox was split. Rover PG1s used conventional Ball Bearings. I hope the large retaining C-Clip was released before the Gearbox cases were split. My Rover 620TIs had TorSens and they work. The later Rover Turbo Torsens (Type Bs ) are much stronger than the earlier Type As fitted to TomCat Turbos which are less reliable for track day cars.
Your concern about the Rover and Honda bits in your gearbox is misplaced. Just ensure the all important correct Gearbox Lubricant is ( MTF 94 I believe ) and maintained to correct level. There should not be any losses of Gearbox Lubricant at all provided the differential to driveshaft seals have not been damaged allowing lubricant to steadily escape until it reaches a critical level. Lost count of the times I've seen these seals damaged by less caring heavy handed professional driveshaft removal. Any gearbox on any car will not last long without sufficient lubricant. Many moons ago, I bought a TomCat Turbo. It was well maintained by the previous owner with a thick wodge of history. That included an £800 Invoice for a very recent Gearbox rebuild. The previous owner only sold the car as he had a very long ban for doing close to £140 mph on the M3.
My first fast cross country drive in the car saw top gear drive being lost close to home on return. Then, fourth gear also lost and got home in third gear.
Next day, I checked the car. I removed the gearbox lubricant drain plug and TWO drops of oil came out. Yes, DROPs, not 2.2 litres required! Those who worked on this Gearbox previously had not put any lubricant in it! I had a spare good MG Montego Gearbox and those cars have identical PG1 Gearbox ratios and internals. Box rebuilt using those. On splitting the Gearbox casings, that revealed both 5th and 4th gear Clusters devoid of pinion teeth.. toothless. That's what happens when there's insufficient lubricant in ANY gearbox. Sadly, it is all too convenient to knee-jerk blame "Weak Rover Gearboxes" and many so called professionals do that when it is those who were the real weakness. Lost count of times I've seen evidence of that sort of thing over the years. Media bias spreads the Fake News too. No names no pack drill but they know who they are.
The vastly modified front suspension and braking is of great interest.
Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more of this good stuff..
Whirs the lTer Johnny? Please don’t keep us hangin
ОтветитьWhat’s the latest, Johnny? Please don’t keep us hanging on....
ОтветитьNext part coming sooner, he says, I'm still sat here holding my breath a year later, I say...
Love all your videos Jonny, I just wish I had more updates, also on the Mk1 Escort barn find please.
Keep up the great work.
whats going on with this car ??? when finished ???
ОтветитьG'day Johhny, just had a dream about a militarised Allegro estate 4WD Big Knobbly tyres, camo paint fuel can winch and spade. What do you think?
ОтветитьWhen's part 4 coming?
ОтветитьI can’t wait for the finished car! I had an Allegro in the early 1980’s as did my best friend and we both loved the cars and they actually ran like a dream, (mostly, mine needed an engine replacement), even though we were very much aware they had a not so great reputation.
ОтветитьHi Jonny, was looking at your older vids and found the Allegro, episodes 1,2&3. Great little series on an what turning into a very interesting project, I’m keen for another episode or 3? Cheers, love the channel!
ОтветитьWhen is part 4.
This is ages old
Is anything happening with this project?
Ответить23.00 “I am not mad” while he is making a Hot rod Austin Allegro! Classic
ОтветитьQuote "I'm not mad" uuummmm well, I'm not sure if you are or not. It's an All- agro, so many good cars, why why why? I need a lie down now.
ОтветитьSorry I am late to the party, but please please make that your 3rd brake light…….please
Ответитьjust catching up with this...great product. did i really see the gearbox being split with a metal chisel??? what happened to using plastic on machined surfaces.
ОтветитьI’ve previously been, shall we say, unkind about this car? I still think that the Allegro is BL’s deepest bucket of pus but I do live what you’re doing with yours, Jonny. Very ambitious; highly entertaining.
Ответитьi have always hated Allegros they remind me of old granny pants and wood chip wallpaper and lavender toilet freshner. But because of all these prejudices thats why it would make the perfect sleeper. its one thing to beaten by a smaller but lovable car. But to be beaten by an Allegro would keep you awake at night for a long time
ОтветитьInteresting project 🤔 ... the Austin Allegro isn't a bad looking car to be honest if you think about the other cars Brtish Leyland turned out like tge Morris Marina
ОтветитьI'm enjoying this great project !
ОтветитьDude you should’ve gone AP brakes through Reyland…. Fit’s behind a 15” wheel (295mm disc!) and no offence to the company you’re saying, I know which I spent my money on…
ОтветитьI love this project. But I still can't get over the ridiculously over-spec'd brakes, and in general the obsession with/need to have massive brakes.
ОтветитьFuel Cell 😆
ОтветитьSo glad I didn't find this when published as it means I have a fabulous project to follow. Love the idea behind it too. Seems like you've found the right people to work with too.
ОтветитьI never thought I'd be this interested in watching an Austin Allegro.
Love the spirit of what you want the car to be, and I think it'll be cracking good when it's finished!
Also very curious to see how that V6 will sound with some nice custom pipes. Onwards to part 4!
Best video on the planet
ОтветитьWhy didn't you you with Freelander KV6 with PG1 and IRD.....?
Could have had a 4WD Sleeper....
Doesn't your 827 donor already have a cross rod brake mechanism putting the M/C on the passenger side of the engine bay??
ОтветитьJohnny , is it possible to modify the brake servo and put the master cylinder in a different area I have seen it done with feed pipes ?
ОтветитьGood series. Could do with making a playlist for all the episodes. Not easy looking through all the video’s you have!
ОтветитьWeird how the title is not at all clickbaity, but it still somehow is the most awesome title there is right now on my feed.
