Excellent documentary! I was there in the old unpaved days as well as in the paved days when VW ran. The Germans fed us breakfast and lunch for which I am still grateful. Thank you, VW!! - The tables were full of pastries but not one donut in sight so I had to ask where were the donuts. One of the team members replied: "Germans don't eat donuts!"

I grew up there.
The locals are the real judges of the PPHC, AND WE HAVE SPOKEN.
It's not to detract from the advanced engineering, it's just that we are traditionalists.

Pikes Peak lost all its kudos when it was laid with tarmac. When it was dirt and gravel it was THE challenge. Now it's just a windy road and there are many of them.

My dad was operations manager for pikes peak highway. My first job was at Glen cove. Super cool place to grow up. After the race most of the drivers would end up at the maintenance garage at Crystal Reservoir. Can’t count how
Many drivers I met as a kid. Mears, the Millens, Vascjoltz, Unsers, The Donners, Shoemacher. Too many to list.

Wow! That 85/86 Quattro was a problem in just about every race series in the 80s. Pure dominance with their AWD and 5CYL turbo. Group B forced a de tune, DTM forced a de tune. Pikes peak. Even though Audi broke ZERO rules.
