Great idea. I always travel by train from London to Paris. The trains are more comfortable than airplanes and a great way to see the countryside.

Smart move. Some ICE (inter city express) trains are zipping around at 150 miles per hour. They are much more comfortable than aircraft, cheaper and because you embark and disembark in the city center instead of miles out of the city you reduce your cost and the commuting time. You're where you want to be and the time difference isn't much longer .

But what are they going to do about the over one hundred volcanos that are spewing more CO2 in earths atmosphere that every car jet or bbq for a thousand years. Valcanos blowing tons and tons of CO2 and there is nothing you can do. There is not enough money in the planet to stop valcanos.

What was not mentioned is both the lower "passenger miles per unit of fuel" for shorter flights, and as trains are electric, France produces about 75% of its electricity from nuclear, whereas the US still produces 60% from fossil fuels.

This is a great idea. I don't understand why countries like France and Japan have short haul air travel routes
when they also have great high speed rail service. Comfortable and high service levels. Good food and wi-fi.

I’m ok with this if train travel makes more sense. But make no sense if we still allow private jets

10 flights of 100 people on planes, 1000 people,, is LESS impactful than a 1000 people on trains..
sorry charlie

Oh no! John 🤥Kerry needs to rush to his climate speeches in a private 737 jet(yes I'm exaggerating) and then this V8 armored Chevy Suburban along with his family in a V12 Mercedes armored van all around the world. 😂

Edit: I approve this message.🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Emmanuel Macron uses an Airbus A330 to travel. From an external point of view, this plane looks exactly like an Airbus A330 of the classic airlines. In reality, inside, there are almost no similarities. In the cabin of the presidential plane, there is a room with a bathroom, an office that allows the president to get in touch with anyone, a meeting room that can accommodate 12 people, a medical area with a small operating room, a business area to accommodate companions and finally an economic area for the security service and the staff on board.
Finally, it is estimated that the cost of using this carrier is about 21,000 per flight hour and its purchase price is 230,000,000 €.

On the other hand, Emmanuel Macron also travels on a private jet of a more reasonable size. It is a Falcon 7x of the French manufacturer Dassault (competitor of Bombardier). This jet is used for trips of a shorter distance, generally for travel within the country.
