I thought … Advil on the rocks … was excellent, but I didn’t know where the rest of it was headed. Nowhere, it turns out. I’ve noticed with all, and I mean all American humour … the more it’s bombing, the louder it gets. Humour is always in the nuance of things. Seldom in the sledge hammer of volume. Mason/Manson … that’s nuance. Fongers? That’s not nuance. Fongers aren’t a thing. You want to call someone psychic and instead you call them psychotic. That’s humour. You accidentally confused two similar words and end up insulting the person. Hilarious. Also … stop explaining the joke. Oh I’m a little off my game today. No. Just try again and get it wrong again. And again. That’s funny. In one episode of Schitt’s Creek, Catherine o’ Hara tries to say someone’s name, but says it wrong. And the iterations get progressively worse and funnier as she goes. But she stops after 3 attempts. SNL runs their gags on for far too long … the horse is dead. Stop flogging it. Less is more. Learn about the law of dismissing returns. I mean diminishing. See? That’s funny because SNL ignores (or dismisses) that law. Sigh.
