Personally I wouldn't trust the poll shift in regards of Harris replacing Biden yet otherwise agree. She had so much support thrown at her lap and then, no momentum with it. Provided she experienced a massive dive in popularity yet one wonders if that happened due to the accelerated and almost desperate pace or perhaps it was it a personal failure of Kamala from the start? Either way I doubt she'd be a nominee in any future elections, or at least for a long time.

I, as an outsider only reading what is easily accessible for me, believe the main fumble was appointing Harris to begin with. A second, perhaps lightning round, primaries should've run. Alternatively, just look at people who performed the best at primaries after Biden. Either way there had been a number of experienced candidates with people knowing them. Yet, to all evidence I find, they just looked at Kamala's race and gender thus decided they got no chance. That seems... incredibly blind to what the public wanted. Make no mistake, a black lady president sounds awesome. Yet it has to have a driving force outside of that. Even Kamala realized this, given the interviews I saw.

I expected a sorts of landslide win for Republicans, given the media presence of Trump and everything else going for him. I am somberly recognize my predictions were mostly met. Whether I'm happy of the outcome is an interesting question. I am not from Iran, nor China. So overall what Trump brings to the table is much less obvious. I am also not selfish enough to ignore that US presidential elections matter for the Americans the most, foreign interests come a distant second.

In regards of the tarrif law passing, I heard a lot of points about this, actually. At its bare face tarrifs sound awful if there is no exemption or other ways to approach it more flexibly. In fact, Trump in his previous term also pushed for tarrifs yet at the same time other laws like mandating pharmaceuticals to import chemicals which are cheaper to acquire that way in order to lower expenses also got passed. Trump is a business elite. Also a self-proclaimed negotiator. In all likelihood the kind of tarrif law that passes will impact the large global corporations the least. In fact historically changes such as this usually impacted the small businesses disproportionately more than the larger ones. I think whatever law passes Congress will be neutered sufficiently that global corporations may even endorse it. I saw such mechanisms happen in a lot of other countries when technically a restriction happened yet in practice the effect was different.

I'm a little late to this party, but I just heard your comment about how a 3rd party would only win if we go to popular vote. I disagree. How much do we honestly see or hear about any of the other parties? We have what 5-7 different political parties all together and we only really hear about 2. I believe if we get away from people making donations only to the two parties, using tax dollars equally across the parties and actually have the news COVER all debates, then we can start getting other "blood" in the seats not just Reps and Dems

A comment you responded to near the end of your stream, the census isn't based on citizenship but total population including illegals. Several states have a couple more Representatives and electoral votes than they really should have due to high populations of illegals. Reps and electoral votes should be based on citizenship, then allocation of federal funding on total population which if Trump keeps his promise on shutting down and booting illegal immigration will be a lot fairer.

Please point me to one single election in the past century (or as long as primaries have existed) in which the candidate who was nominated at convention without either participating in the primary process or without being the most popular candidate in the primary ultimately went on to win the General Election. I'll wait.

Gotta push back on the idea of "Election Day" as a national holiday. While it seems like a good idea at first, the problem with national holidays is that they actually put a significant amount of additional stress on service sector workers, in many cases changing a day everyone else has off to a day they must work, possibly overtime. Combine this with service sector workers often not having vacation benefits and also generally being on the lower rung of the economic scale, you're effectively incentivizing their disenfranchisement by adding the holiday. It'd also necessarily shrink the window for mail-in voting.

Having your own opinions is a wonderful thing, but this Mr Beat guy got lost in his own sauce. Don't allow your own biases to cloud your view of reality people.

Changing the vote to a weekend or making it a holiday would only make a difference for that segment of the population that works set monday-friday schedules or get federal holidays off.
