And if you watched his video you would see he negatively remarks on grading several times like that PSA hasn't done me dirty yet clearly suggesting that PSA has done him dirty in the past enough times that he is expecting it to happen so why use a grading company I will tell you why because all the newbies and flippers and people that clearly know nothing of the industry base all their business and transactions off PSA grading which is very dangerous for the future of the business
ОтветитьPSA driving me crazy. Had a 83 topps Boggs that I had down as a 8/9 and came back a 4. My friend who collects as well looked over the card, and couldn’t figure it out. So cracked it and resent in and then got an 8???
Also got back some vintage baseball with OC qualifiers like 8 and 9 OC. They were well centered. Maybe 60/40 70/30 at worst. Does anyone know the threshold for the qualifier ??
lol @ $75 a card
ОтветитьI always love your PSA order vids. Quick question though: While I understand PSA demands a premium for Modern and Ultra Modern, wouldn't it still make more sense to send vintage to SGC where wait time is going to be the same or faster, and at 20% the cost? I wasn't going to compare all cards, but the 56 Topps Mays went for roughly the same price in both slabs. Just curious on your thoughts. Cheers!
ОтветитьGreat cards. And your grader seemed to be mostly fair I think, imo, it would be nice to know however, how much of the ''eye appeal'' goes into their evaluation, and, decision making too.
ОтветитьQuestion for next week- is it unethical to crack out the Ohtani chrome cards and sell them raw without disclosing they were 9’s?
Ответить56 aaron has the same mark as the banks (under his nose)
ОтветитьChris;
It would be a very interesting study for the channel if you could crack the Otto Graham card and send it back to PSA at the $250 level in order to see if it comes back with a higher grade. I’d bet the grading fee that it would come back higher!!
PS- The newer cards, why not send them at the $27 level and, at worst, pay the up charge if they got 10’s??
Chris, as always thanks for the video. I have a question about the ‘55 Mantle Bowman: How is graded value $550? I see last 3 sales (in October) avg for $626.
ОтветитьHi Chris, congrats on the grades for the vintage cards. Thanks for sharing this.
ОтветитьLove the content always!
2 questions
1. What's the most you have paid for a single card $$ value.
2.will you start using PSA to eBay to keep flipping inventory?
Hi Chris. Do you have a buyer yet for the Otto? I am interested.
ОтветитьCan’t remember: At what level do you get grader notes?
ОтветитьThe 2018 Bowman & Bowman Chrome stuff is really harshly graded by PSA for some reason. Centering seems to need to be 50/50/50/50 to earn a 10, and anything beyond imperfect centering gets you hammered.
ОтветитьGoats and goat rookies always get graded a notch below their true condition the PSA way of population control. Sending in modern at $80 fee per grade is total suicide. Send the Otto over to SGC you probably do well. PSA has it all on computer makes you wonder how wary they are when you resubmit and they see the same rare vintage card from a previous submission.
ОтветитьHi Chris, what do the Grader Notes say? (On the cards you were surprised on) That should have been included at your $75 service level
ОтветитьI was curious what would be the best vintage cards to invest long term in? Im looking to get out of all the modern cards I own and should have about 2 grand to spend. Im a young guy and dont know much about vintage cards. Should I look for lower grades of all time greats like robinson, mantle, clemete, Aaron etc ? Or should I try to get higher grades of guys like carew, koufax, Dimmagio ? Should I try to get a couple cards or just one big one ?
ОтветитьHave you ever had a dangerous or shady deal? If so what happened?
ОтветитьQ&A for Chris!,
What web sites do you use to price your cards?
I thought PSA was getting rid of the qualifier. It makes it more confusing.
ОтветитьQuestion for Q&A…I have a highly graded 1957 Topps baseball master set to sell (PSA 7 and 8, 30 Hofs PSA 6). I’m on the registry. Without breaking it into pieces and selling and shipping 400+ cards, what would you recommend that I do to sell it and make the highest return on its sale? Love your channel!!!
ОтветитьHi, Chris, Love your content. A while back you did a video on TAG. After that episode I used the company and love it. I won't use any other company now. I would love to see you do a prediction with TAG, where you get the answers you are looking for! They had changed since you last used them. Love to see an update. Thanks
ОтветитьChris, you mentioned you collect baseball Hall of famers rookie cards and high grade as part of your PC. Can you tell us a little bit about your coverage and grades currently?
ОтветитьU wouldve done even better sending them in at a lower rate
Ответитьgj chris , had a question. Any metrics out there to measure how much the industry generates as a whole? Trying to figure out retail pricing losses to gains.
ОтветитьQuestion(s): Do you think PSA will ever start to include grader notes? Would you like to see them go this route? Your thoughts, please.
ОтветитьHot take for possible Q&A - with collectors/investors who saw/remember the great vintage players (Aaron, Mays, etc) getting older and older, in a decade or so will vintage values peak or begin to decline? I saw this on another YT video and wanted to hear your thoughts.
ОтветитьQUESTION FOR YOUR upcoming "Q&A": Why does the current generation of LEAF Products (2015-2024) such as ITG (In The Game) not get the same Hobby love like Topps and Panini do? The Leaf ITG line is not fully licensed by the Major Sports Leagues but they are by their Player Associations. And they produce Super Gold Prismatic 1/1s that sell for at times not even a tenth of their Topps or Panini counterparts! What is your take?
ОтветитьChris - Where are you finding raw vintage in even mid-grade with nice eye appeal, lol? I have been doing this a long time, and I can't find anything anymore. Everything vintage is either graded or if raw, it's low grade or nice but trimmed, etc. I have plenty of people I deal with, but no one wants to sell nice vintage in the raw unless something is wrong with it. It's frustrating! Just about the only time I come across something is on the rare occasion some old collector decides to sell and I am at the right place at the right time, but that is rare.
ОтветитьGreat stuff as always, Chris. Thanks for sharing these fantastic cards as well as the breakdown.
ОтветитьCongrats on your returns and thanks for sharing, Chris.
Not a question, but a few comments - I've made multiple purchases via CIA and each experience has exceeded my expectations. Jeremy is awesome and is running a first-class operation. Each interaction with him has made me feel appreciated.
48 Bowman is far from the ugliest sets ever. I think the early 90’s are some of the ugliest ever.
ОтветитьGreat videos as always. Love them and the information you provide. A question, Do you feel that Whatnot is flooding the market with cards and hurting the hobby? And do you use it? I have used it and have gotten some of my hero's cards (Johnny Bench) off of it. Just curious about your feelings on the app and how you think it has affected the hobby. Thanks as always.
ОтветитьChris, I wonder if you would consider doing a webcast with your personal collection and a short story behind each card(how acquired, cost etc.). Love your stories
ОтветитьI have hundreds of vintage to send in from 1940 Play Ball to 49 to 69 plus my 70’s to ultra modern. Just finding the time like you said to review, send in and then decide which ones to sell. Just love the hobby like you Chris. Always appreciate everything you share
ОтветитьIs Shohei an investment risk? 2 elbow surgeries and now left shoulder surgery makes me wonder if longevity isn't in his future. Would his value drop if he never pitches again?
ОтветитьThese vintage cards are awesome!
ОтветитьIf the Graham is a high end 5 you could still get 900+ for it. The Lansford is great!
ОтветитьI think I have graded those Ohtani BC RCs about 10x and its alot about centering given the border is so clearly defined. Both of yours are grossly OC top-bottom. But great vintage return! Congrats
ОтветитьIs the '48 Bowman Berra FS?
ОтветитьDID YOU KNOW!
Texas Snowman's favorite movie: Die Hard 2 X-Mas Edition
Favorite Line: If it's more than a dollar ninety-eight I'd be very surprised.
Question for the Q&A video. I like buying raw 90s inserts and sending them off to PSA for grading. I constantly see PSA under grading the cards. What are your thoughts on this? How accurate do you think they are? Do you think there’s any sort of bias going on? Also how much luck have you had with resubmitting?
ОтветитьThanks Chris! Really enjoy these!
ОтветитьQuestion for Q & A Video: How many buyers are actively participating in super expensive high roller auctions (e.g. $100K+ cards)? Are there a small group of known super-rich collectors picking these up? If so, who are they? Or is it usually dealers picking them up for resale to private/anonymous collectors? Any light you can shed on the "who's who" of elite collectors?
ОтветитьPrefer SGC nicer holders . Believe SGC will surpass PSA as the better grading site .
ОтветитьQuestion for the Q and A video: How did the Ken McMullen 'thing' start? What was the catalyst for all of the fun we have with this?
ОтветитьI think the grader should grade without knowledge of service level. Why does the grader need to know this? On a different topic, have you considered taking in cards, do your grading then submitting those which you think would be economical? For a fee of course. Thanks
ОтветитьI love the high end vintage, nice return overall!
ОтветитьHow do I purchase any of these ?
ОтветитьInterested in purchasing these two if still available.
