ОтветитьLove my 96 XJ Classic. Only the 2nd owner.
ОтветитьTimeless xj Jeep and Mercedes w123 comparable is thoughtful design.
ОтветитьFinally, a Revelations episode with a car I've had the pleasure of driving! A buddy of mine back in high school had what I think was a '94 with the V6. We had a blast ripping that car around on backroads! Could fit 5 high schoolers and all their crap for sports/band/whatever and still boogie down the road; it made my Lima powered Ranger look like a turd. These are just fun cars.
ОтветитьI own 4 Jeeps, two 98 ZJ Grand cherokees, one with the 4.0 a laredo one with the 5.9 v8, and i also own a 90 grand wagoneer and a 76 Jeep J10... I never once liked the XJ cherokee's, theyre too small looking inside, the dash is very outdated even on the later years, the ZJ from 96-98 is much nicer inside... I dunno just dont like the look of the XJ either, or the commanche.
Youre also way wrong the interior volume.. the Grand Wagoneer has 90 cubic feet of cargo volume, when you remove the bench seat... When folded its 75..., the XJ is only 54 cubic feet... How does so much misinformation get 500k views... i hope youre reading this Hagerty... 90 minus 10% is 81.... Hell 75 minus 10% is 67cubic feet... the XJ is only 54.... The XJ has 40% less cargo volume
Jason youre wrong on the inerior spacing on the wagoneer and XJ.... Dude the wagoneers cargo room alone is 90cubic feet with the bench seat removed.. the XJ is only 54.... even with the bench seat in and folded its 75... which is still more than 10%... the XJ has 40 PERCENT LESS cargo room I own these vehicles i have 4 Jeeps, this is all information written by a guy using google, why it has 500k views is beyond me the information needs corrected... Also the wagoneers bench seat was in the same position on the wheel wells.... and it can carry 6 people.. nothing about that screams XJ did it first... this script must have been written by a fanboy

ОтветитьThe timing was incredible. The time this video was released, I just bought a 1995 XJ Sport with the 4.0 6 cyl and 4x4.
ОтветитьMiss my 94 XJ Cherokee Country. Reliable, Comfortable, Truly Off Capable and easy to service, mod and work on if i had to. Sold it in 2015 at 277k miles
( saw it the other day.. guy was using it for a hunting vehicle.. it was covered in mudd LOL )
I’d love to go for a drink with Jason Cammisa, Richard Porter and Jonny Smith, I reckon that would be a properly good night out
ОтветитьSuch a great car. The 4.0L was a beast in its day
ОтветитьMy parents had a ZJ Grand Cherokee 5.2L then later the XJ Cherokee 4.0L. Both were pretty sweet
ОтветитьThat end clip was GODLY. Such a beautiful sounding engine. I would do anything for another one
ОтветитьOnly four door compact suv of the era? What about the s10 blazer 4 door? 4Runner? Pathfinder? Later on the explorer?
ОтветитьStylish, Rugged, Practical, and very Reliable
The XJ Cherokee is true legend
in europe he was also available with 2.1l renault diesel and 2.5 vm diesel.i had 2 4.0 an 94 high output and an 97 chief.was good cars
Ответитьコンパクトな車体に大排気量のエンジンだもんね😊
ОтветитьWhy they haven’t decided to make a new version of this jeep yet is absolutely beyond my comprehension, they did very well back in the day with sales and they would do very well today, and it would bring some reputation back to the jeep name, id say ditch the gladiator and replace it with this
ОтветитьAbsolutely amazing video, and beautiful cherokee i wonder what tire size is on it
ОтветитьI don’t understand why jeeps later ceos can’t understand what made the XJ so successful and why we don’t like much of the current lineup.
ОтветитьI had a 1990 Cherokee Ltd that I loved and drove for almost 20 years. However, as much as people raved about how reliable the 4.0L straight 6 was, mine was always in the shop. I also have no idea how all these magazines called it quiet. The engine roared when pushed and the interior squeaks were plentiful. Loved it to bits though!
ОтветитьVary nicely done................ oh yes.................................
ОтветитьSomeone please give Jason the Lada Niva. I beg you. That thing is somehow selling like hot cakes again without anything majorly changed to it since the 70s
ОтветитьI know the 2014+ Cherokee gets a lot of hate but I don't think reviewers ever took a look at it objectively. Sure it didn't live up to its older brother but that was never going to happen. The V6 feels genuinely quick with good NA power, the AWD is pretty good and IF you want something more offroad oriented the trailhawk does that pretty well. The non-trailhawks are really quite rewarding to drive hard on a back road (I cant speak for the trailhawks, never drove one). Towing capacity was excellent for its size/price. even the base interior was quite nice and included a decent base radio and excellent interior sound isolation. Unfortunately they just didn't get a few important things right out of the gate on it so it was always seen for its earlier faults rather than its many successes, the front end was ugly, they used foolish transmission programming, and to exacerbate the perception of transmission issues they produced bad wiring harnesses for a couple years. Later years they fixed the looks and wiring harnesses and it really is quite underrated my opinion, then again they sold nearly 200,000 of them per year until covid and phase-out limited production so it clearly was liked by plenty of people.
ОтветитьI love my XJ! This video is gonna blow up their popularity…
ОтветитьI really miss my XJ. It was a great vehicle, did whatever I wanted and lived great in the city and the woods. Handled blizzards like a beast and being a 20 year old SUV with a little wear and tear, spent a lot of time with the back seats down functioning as a pickup. I might try to snag one down south in the future. I loved that thing. I'm a car guy but they've always just been cool machines to me. That XJ was a member of the family though.
Ответитьi have owned my xj since new in 1988. never really found a reason to sell it. maybe someday i will upgrade to a vehicle with ABS and a CHMSL.
ОтветитьNow bring it back Stellantis… (Wrangler owner)
ОтветитьEveryone ignores the 2 door Jeep Commando C-101 and C 104 that preceded the XJ Cherokee.
ОтветитьLove my 98. w0mp
Ответить❤❤❤
ОтветитьMy dad had 3 of these- a 2.5 84 automatic (someone stole it) an 87, 2.8/5-speed (the power windows started on fire while we were on the Dan Ryan expressway in Chicago, then the engine blew head gaskets) and finally a 94 4.0/automatic that he put 300k before giving it to a relative who’s still using it. I really think once they got the 4.0 they essentially made the perfect vehicle that I bet you could still sell today if it would pass emissions or CAFE or whatever. He had an 05 Cherokee as his last car but just like in the video, it was just transportation and he talked about his 94 constantly. He toyed with the idea of finding a low mileage XJ from out west but never got around to it.
ОтветитьThis car is a legeng in russia too.
ОтветитьJeep should recreate it, in its cubic design with today's technology... but especially with a beautiful robust aluminum L6... and an identical vertical dashboard…
Ответить2025 and you still see xjs on the road. think about that. theres 30 35 year old jeeps still being dailyed. instead of being prudent like the japanese, they gave it to a guy with a college degree thinking about the investors. the reason people still buy jeeps today is bc of the xj, then they wonder why theyre always in the shop being fixed. im one of those idiots.
ОтветитьCherokee is a legend! Don't forget about Cherokee KK, which our family has owned for 13 years with a mileage of over 150 к, a worthy successor, so far a real indestructible Jeep with an excellent 3.7 engine developed by AMС, eternal transfer case mp 3022, with a non-split Chrysler 8.25 drive axle with Dana filling with a very strong body.
ОтветитьA friend of mine keep up with mustangs 4.9s in his base Cherokee.
ОтветитьI had a 2001 recently, 4x4 with a 4.0, just didn’t have a manual transmission unfortunately but honestly one of the better autos I’ve had had even at 250,000 miles with questionable maintenance. Sure it made noise going from drive to reverse but the shifts were fantastic.
Anyway I never got to experience the “good” ride quality with mine but loved it regardless. When I first bought it I was taken aback by how small it was. Even lifted with slightly larger tires it was about the same height as my 94 two wheel drive half ton. And so short it made parking super easy. Love these things.
I wish I can have such new car nowadays, without huge problems in electronics, but with straight 6 iron block and iron head 💫
ОтветитьThey made a big mistate when they stopped building this. I replaced mine after 300+ thousand miles with a 2020 Gladiator. That was my big mistake. I remedied that error with a 1988 Comanche last year. Same great 6, standard tranny and Im in love again.
ОтветитьAll great 👍
ОтветитьWhat do you mean, “was”?
ОтветитьHot hatch ???? Jeep has been making terrible cars for 80 years. But this claim of hot hatch rivals one of the worst things ever said about the jeep
ОтветитьI remember a Grassroots Motorsports article about an auto-x built XJ, and I've seen a couple at events but none as crazy as the one in GRM. These days it's a shock to see one on the road here in the mid atlantic, all rusted away I guess.
ОтветитьHot hatch ? Hold my beer while I barf
ОтветитьI own one of these, and to this day it's still the best 4 door jeep ever made, it's built like a tank, the engine the straight 6 is a masterpiece , is a big mistake that they stopped producing this engine, it's well made, it's the best jeep All around the XJ, nothing like it.
ОтветитьMy second car was a 94XJ purchased in '96. I enjoyed it but swapped it out for a TJ a couple of years later... the TJ rides worse, is noisier, and guzzles more fuel due to being even more of a brick than the XJ though they use the exact same straight 6... but to this day I still enjoy the Wrangler more. There is just something about having no doors or roof whilst driving along the beach (or anywhere really) that appeals to me.
