I cant laugh to these shit show…. Its too depressing.

Humans without science are just cavemen. You wanna live like cavemen? Go ahead USA... But I tell you the rest of the world wont stop doing legit science and when you realize that youre coocked its too late and you will be irellevant for Science. And that will cost you in a very literal way... have fun buying the technologies that you didnt invent.

Also I think all this Big Pharma narrative is quiet intresteing. Its a phenomenon thats most agressively beieved in the USA. I think the reason for that is the cost of medicine and healthcare. But the prices for that are created by your shitty healthcare system, so by the government. Not the pharma indusrtry. It just does what every cooperation does and thats maximize profits within the LEGAL FRAMEWORK that the GOVERNMENT provides.

Also how can the journal be under The control of big pharma and for what? Where is proof of that? Most research is not even clinical research. So why should "big Pharma" care what basic research is publicized? Pharma companies them selves dont public most of ther research to keep it secret so their work cannot be copied. The only exception are clinical studies initiated by the Pharma industry. But its good when they are public so everyone can look into them to see if they are done correctly for themselves. But even if you think these trails are corrupt, you would only need a government institution reviewing the clinical trails (exists allready). Has nothing to do with the Journals.

RFK should be prohibited from taking medication where any research results related were publicized in these journals... Then he can have an early taste of the world hes trying to create here.

I'm sure there is an influence exerted by pharmaceutical companies. But I would think that's mostly because health research is often sponsored by those companies.

The fact that journals are private businesses that charge scientists money to publish in them and paywall research results rather than an international coalition of academic fields cooperating to curate and report the best of human knowledge has always irritated me.

That said i have no faith that RFKs plan is anything but further entrenched corruption of science.

I mean, in the long run it would be better if scientists didn't have to use these journals. But that's because they have to pay to do the research, then pay the publisher who didn't do the research and then other scientists and students have to pay the publishers again to acces the information. But a change to something else, something public and free should be more or less gradual and start supplementary to the old system. But I guess the current administration probably only thinks about control...

That is a good example that is very true it is under the power of these pharmaceutical companies a lot of them pay money to other companies to produce these journals for medical students and their own staff but I would like to hear somebody else's perspective because I don't know

The journals get the papers for free from scientists, other scientists volunteer to peer review them and then they sell the journals back to scientists at whatever price since scientists have to have access to them. All the journals really add is their reputation. It’s a terrible system and RFK Jr. see it and wonders how it could be worse.

So long as those journals are pay-walled by companies like Elsevier (spit), I actually agree that any government funded research SHOULD be publicly accessible, and not behind a pay-wall.

If you wanna know if a study is done in good faith, look at who funded it. If they have vested interests in the study, then find a different one with a different funder and see what they find.

The problem here is that with these studies, although there’s lots of them, they’re all funded by the same people.
