This US obsession with a “warrant” is stupid and forgets the rest of the world exists. I would not need a warrant to be spied on by the USA and you could all be spied upon without a warrant by the government here. What is obviously needed is international agreements, but the USA hates international laws and regularly flouts them.

Germany's stance against Nuclear is a relatively recent turn. They had a thriving Nuclear power program in the 2000's and part way into the 2010s. Then Fukushima happened and overnight Germany "Noped!" out of their nuclear power program. Thought the whole thing was silly, since Germany isn't subjected to tsunamis in the same way Japan is. Also, Fukushima has SO MANY poor design choices that a properly designed plant for the area could have endured. But nothing changes public policy like unrealistic fears of the masses.

Nuclear energy is only green energy, if you do not account the challenge of managing nuclear waste. Some radioactive materials must be safely contained for up to 1 million years before they pose no threat and can be handled without protective measures.

To put that into perspective, if ancient civilizations like the Phoenicians or Babylonians—who lived around 5,000 years ago—had used nuclear power, we would still be responsible for managing their waste today, with almost the entire containment timeline still ahead of us.

Passing such a burden onto future generations, in my view, is fundamentally unfair.
