Can you add a video the end screen?
ОтветитьSomeone isn't ready for the paradigm shift Apple Silicone will bring. Intel and x86 are like the last dinosaurs, too inefficient to survive.
ОтветитьTry to decode 4K 4:2:2 movie files from a modern Canon or Sony camera on an Intel, AMD or Nvidia. It's crazy slow as these companies don't support all types of HEVC. No try these files on a modern iPad.... they fly. An iPad is much faster with these files than the fastest high end peecees with state of the art gpu. Imagine 4 of these iPad chips in a 1.500,- iMac... it may not be a master of all trades but as a media-chruncher it will shine.
ОтветитьIt's a much needed business move. Apple is not going to stick around waiting others to fix their own problems and with arm doing so great in smart devices in modern times this gives apple the greatest leap since they control their own hardware and operating systems. They said Apple moving to 64 bit in smart devices was a waste and what happen? EVERYONE ELSE went 64 bit. Arm has been around just as long as intel has so this is no big deal really. The iPad and the iPhone was the real test here and it worked out great on the devices so far and adding Mac OS makes things way easier for devs to cross over between operating systems Apple has to offer. I trust Apple because they have been in the hardware and OS game since day one. The Apple Newton was ahead of its time so fast forward to 2020 and look at all the devices on ARM. Unless you're a DIE HARD fan boy this will be no different than going from power pc to intel. Only difference now will be ALL APPLE software in the ecosystem will cross over when need be.
ОтветитьApple OS and the software sucks so bad. That's why their sales have tanked in the past 2 yrs. Not enough options. The hardware is great but the software is garbage.
ОтветитьGuys, why so many dislikes? he is making some valid and correct points!
ОтветитьHasn't Microsoft already committed to having Office available when ARM Macs ship?
ОтветитьI glued a potatoe to a motherboard
I am officially an Apple Certified Engineer.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Apple has switched processors twice already, 68000 - - > Power PC, Power PC - - > x86. Don't under estimate Apple's technological prowess when it comes to this kind of thing or the developer support they have. They've got the talent, they've got the will and they've got the money required to do this kind of thing -- and most importantly, they've got the balls to do it and do it right.
When (to a large extent) the only thing a developer has to do is set a flag and recompile to build a native code app -- transitioning their application base to the new silicone will not be the nightmare one might expect. Particularly as most developers already have extensive experience coding for ARM chips and not having to also code for Intel chips actually makes their workload easier.
Phones and tablets already out number PCs and they almost all use ARM chips, so this isn't Apple switching to some exotic chip not used anywhere else [cough]Power PC[cough]. But don't let anything I said affect your anti-fanboi-ism.
It might be the case that ARM directly compared to a x86 will loose, but what most of the time is forgotten it’s not just the hardware, it’s not just the software it’s the combination. And if you have control over both , I am sure, you will get so much more out of it, that Intel machines will look pretty slow. If Apple creates perfectly orchestrated software , which might work fluently interchangeable between the iPhone, the iPad, the Macs ... this will give the whole industry a real boost.
ОтветитьBut then again Microsoft and others don’t control the hardware no. With full control in the hands of Apple, and the launch of the Big Sur, I think this is going to be the most revolutionary lineup of Macs the industry has seen in decades now. If they indeed provide 15-20 hours of battery life for the same, if not lesser price, then this Mac Silicon lineup is going to outperform every windows laptop and tablet for years to come. (Which not to mention a $400 iPad already has....no offence windows geeks xD) Just holding on to my guns to buy one as soon as they launch!
ОтветитьIf they nail the graphics solution, good performance 4k gaming and video,it would made Apple a ton of money. Gpu is the key here,Intel is very bad,Amd gpu´s are good for desktop but not for gaming and Nvidia solutions are expensive and bulky. The only thing they must do it is a decent Arm cpu and a bunch of little other accelerators to let sine that Gpu performance xwatt, like in any high end phone or tablet. I see a ton of little 13" apple laptops sold easy as do it all computer, pulg it to your tv (8k,4k,1080 or whatever) and for less than 1000 bucks you can do it all.
For a big pc you can made a really good video solution and tons of cores, like hundreds to have a fanless Imac. Then they can design new things and force others to keep on going fast!
You are such a pathetic looser being paid by intel. Your review is completely biased and has misinformation
ОтветитьAs the internet goes crazy over Ryzen and "Apple Silicon" everyone seems to be wilfully ignorant that Intel's performance to transistor density ratio is unmatched. When they finally get to 5nm/3nm w.FinFet, the performance we are celebrating will be laughable. Since commercialising, ARM's simpler designs allowed them leapfrog x86 hardware with higher performance to tdp advantages but we are reaching a diminishing return point for the architecture for ex: A12 to A14 15% improvement from 7nm to 5nm, same for SD YoY. His comments aren't far from truth, this move only serves to increase profit margins for ARM licensees and closed ecosystems --unless Intel competes with a similar strategy as they will hands-down win the performance war in the end. Imagine Intel licensing their designs..
Ответитьyou clearly have no idea what you are talking about, the most powerful super computers in the world are ARM !
ОтветитьNo, you don't understand CPU design and different instruction sets' pros and cons. No. ARM processors being RISC and have simpler instructions doesn't mean they can't do complex tasks as quickly as x86 CPUs can. They basic move instruction optimization from run-time in-chip hardware into compile-time software. And these days you can do much more aggressive automatic optimizations in software than in hardware.
ОтветитьI still have faith in intel, and am just waiting for them to again give tough competition to amd.
I also like amd so don't just start calling me a intel fanboy lmao.
It is getting longer and longer to wait for the event
ОтветитьArm processors came long way but I believe it can out perform intel processors. Through decade since iPhone was release Apple improve arm processor to high standard. My only problem will be applications work when using arm processors especially MacBook's. When Microsoft release arm powered surface the biggest problem face was not many apps was working. I hope Apple does not face that problem.
ОтветитьIts good for Apple bad for end users. We need an Apple MX (x86) based CISC processor developed on 5 nm process to ditch Intel completely. Otherwise people will continue to use their existing Intel / AMD machines for time immemorial due to the widespread software availability on X86 platforms
ОтветитьApple laughed with M1 Macbook now and lowest Mac they released
ОтветитьDont understand what u talking but i like ur eye brow
Ответитьlol; noob
ОтветитьJust out of curiosity how would windows run on a VM on an arm MacBook. Would it have to be the arm version of windows? Or can the regular windows 10 run on the m1
ОтветитьIs this a first Arm processor that can run Crysis at 60fps
ОтветитьWho is watching this now and thinking, wow how off this dude was! 🤦🏻♂️
Ответитьcan someone explain why this video has so many dislikes?
ОтветитьEt cetera not ec cetra
ОтветитьPlease do research before putting out something like this, you are misleading lot of ppl here
ОтветитьTurns out this video was wrong about performance (but that's a great thing).
Ответитьyou can't have efficiency and liberal development. Just like if you want to get shit done you can't have democracy. Everyone doing things and having a say on each decision, you spend so much resource and time before any actual work is done.
ОтветитьI am glad most people don't buy Macs... more for me.
Ответитьlel
ОтветитьHmm I don't buy the walled prison argument so much. I mean don't get me wrong, any company wants to have a moat, but most important apps are available across platforms or via the web today. As much as I don't love Windows, if Dell came out with something significantly better than the M1 in terms of speed and power efficiency, then I would probably be buying a Dell the next time around. I like Mac OS X, but not enough that it would ever prevent me from leaving. (Also note, they did not lock down the M1 laptop...)
ОтветитьARM is scalable though.. and the reasons ARM didn’t work for other companies with their early iterations is because they didn’t have enough market share of the industry to entice software developers to make compatible software. This is so clickbait-ey.
ОтветитьiMac and Mac Pro will also get Apple Silicon ARM based SoC’s within two years from now.
ОтветитьWell...the M1 is out and the performance and efficiency is pretty good.
ОтветитьApple laptops have miserable battery life and nothing even close to their claims.
Under 4 hours battery use and much less if used hard.
ARM will help with battery life, but Apple will continue grossly overestimating battery life.
What do we need? A much better battery.
Well... This didn't age very well...
ОтветитьI thought your video was suspect the minute you mention that Apple switched to ARM Processors because they have to give Intel a cut of their profits for every Mac sold but lost me completely when you said that Apple is developing a walled prison not a walled garden. That was pretty fanboy and obvious that you’re biased.
ОтветитьThis video has a ton of dislikes....I wonder why?
Ответить"walled prison"? come on.
Ответить500 years later when apple regrets their decision
Intel: you need to add a sticker to show Intel on your iPads
Apple: sure, we will add so much stickers that the chargers will be invisible
Prison ??! Wtf are you on mate ?? You don't know what you are talking about you sound jealous
Ответитьhow about the m1 ultra
ОтветитьPlease keep it civil in the comments and remember that people have feelings. At the end of the day we're all just giving our opinions on computer parts, no need to get heated.
Is Apple doomed, or is this a great business move? Let me know what you think in the comments below!
