its ironic that a piece of technology fails at a tech trade show on one of Hollywood's most technology dependent directors.

He handled the triads very well when filming Transformers 2014 in Hong Kong earlier, funny now how a teleprompter had him beat!

What a shame! He should have added some explosions. I mean, look at how helpful that was in the Transformers series.

After seeing the new HouseTraKKKeR device from Intel that connects to your broom handle and counts the amount of dust that is in your house every day and allows you to share the count with others on a new DustCloud social media site, he just couldn't take it anymore.

Stop making fun of him, nobody is perfect. Everyone has their own moment where they get nervous and walk away. How would you feel if you were in the same situation and the 1000+ people in the audience where staring at you.

It would have been more poetic if, instead of walking off, he exploded right there on stage.

Until you've been there, and I have on a smaller scale, you can't relate.  Comment how you want, but I feel for anyone who has ever experienced this.  I've done presentations for 20 years and one day a couple years ago, froze up.  It has happened again recently.  You can't breathe, your mind goes blank, and afterwards, you feel terrible and confused as to why.  Cut him some slack and he'll be fine once he gets a grip on it. 

Reminds me of the SNL "Wake Up and Smile" skit where the teleprompter fails resulting in the newscasters cannibalizing each other.  Fortunately it didn't come to that here.  XD

Sorry, he's a well-educated director...and he doesn't know how to finish a sentence? I hate the term "scripted conversation" that's as phony as lip-synching. Do your homework, read your notes, talk to the host ahead of time, geez dude!!

Michael Bay Felt threatened by the AWESOME TV and had to go and cry

This was not a tech fail. Michael Bay jumped the gun and read the VP's lines first (which he shoudn't have) which threw the teleprompter operator off. I work on big shows like this regularly as a graphics operator usually sitting next to the teleprompter operator. If the speaker goes off-script or ad libs, it's a nightmare for the poor teleprompter operator (who usually gets thrown under the bus for it). I've seen million dollar CEO's do this all the time and it's their own fault.

Here's a tip for potential speakers using a teleprompter. Yes, you may have had multiple rehearsals which go perfectly because you actually follow the script. But for some reason, when the actual presentation happens in front of 100's or 1,000's of people, they feel a need to ad lib or embellish their speech, adding verbage that is not in the script. Totally throws the teleprompter operator off and they simply get lost.

Man i feel him man, every time i do a presentation and things goes wrong, that is what i feel. So many pairs of eye staring at you and all you want to do is to escape.

Hard to feel sorry for someone that gets paid an appearance/speaking fee from Samsung that is more money than most people make in a year, and he wasn't properly prepared.  

A softball question like "How will this new TV (Curve) enhance the viewer's experience" and he couldn't answer that?  Gotta be quicker on your feet than that bud...

I like how most comments here are supporting him. And so we should. I would be shitting my pants up there talking on a stage like that. As do most people. That's why there are so many Public Speaking courses. Anyone who gives this guy shit is a cock.

Why would you even attend if you're gonna read a teleprompter? I know the reason is money, but he could at least try... I guess his opinions are just as soulless as his movies, so it makes sense to have one.
