yeah namecheap, no way. if you're a developer and you still want to be confused with the setup and at times treated like a criminal because you choose a funny domain name, yeah go with namecheap. you talk about obscured costing, namecheap at will may state your domain "suspicious" and require documentation, even before you set it up but after you purchase it. yeah, namecheap, no way.

Just to be clear, if I buy a domain name on one of these sites, does that mean no other site can sell it for as long as I own it? Also, I can't find the links to your tutorials; I'm sure I'm looking in the wrong place.

Your video gave me much new information, one example of which I found especially edifying -- namely that some registrars cough up your whois contact information as soon as they're asked, whereas others have built-in safeguards to prevent this. The problem is that I'm finding it difficult to act on this guidance because it's not obvious to me how to determine where any given registrar falls on that continuum.

For example, both Porkbun and Hostinger offer a radio-slider at checkout to activate whois privacy protection, and the cost is the same, but obviously neither of them are going to say on their own site, "We don't really mean it."

Can you offer any further guidance?

host gator really did me over. i had the simple yearly plan. this year they charged me 300 bucks on my account, when i told them i didnt want there web hosting anymore, they said i couldnt have my domain. so keep that in mind if you use them. you wont ever own the domain they do, and unless you pay them for web service they wont let you have it.
