They should add a fuel consumption rate indicator. So not just a fuel tank number, but burn rate as well, so that you can know how inefficient you're flying.

The best exploration i find when i take the pipe fixing mission, land, fix the stuff, admire the skyline, loot a bit of goodies from the location nd head out. If I run into a player it feels dynamic, not forced like on the event locations) These places like the mining one and the worm one are like instances or delves in WoW, so if they remain as is and work and provide loot they can be evergreen, people will rerun them infinitely. But they need to remain solid and working.

ОтветитьI hope they do look at each ship and the lift ( wing) surfaces and not just because this ship is a heavy fighter and this is a light fighter so the light is better . is space maybe but in atmo its down to the ship build eg. the F8 should be good in atmo like wise the Ion and inferno as they are a flying wing and the Eclipse should be great. and ships like the Cutter should be like a Bus / brick lol.
the speed difference between the standard ship and the best shouldn't be that much a new player would just uninstall if they come up against a old player
Thinking that the ability to joust is bad is fundamentally misunderstanding space combat. Jousting is just a product of allowing ships to reach a high energy state, while not properly managing it. It can be resolved quite easily just by not pressing W all the time.

ОтветитьThey keep adding things and in the end, it will be unplayable for normal people with all these "sub rules" and game will die because nobody is enjoying it anymore. Wait for enginering, we will see a big decline on that, and no i dont hate enginering, but it will kill a lot of solo game play and thus a lot of solo people will leave. Not to mention "Death of a spaceman" people will lose progression so much because of trolls in the game.

It's technically still master modes since it's .. well, it's flight modes. I think it's a huge mistake to take away a defining spec on vehicles by removing navigation. I think it'd be more exciting to accelerate to max nav speed before the low level quantum jump kicks in. Jumping from zero is too common in FTL scifi
ОтветитьSo looking forward to a nuanced atmospheric flight model that takes lift and thrust into account! Worried there will be instant backlash by the people that are currently enjoying hovering nose-down. The UI needs to be very intuitive so people can grasp thruster performance and load. Definitely needs in-game flight tutorials holding new players by the hand.
Perhaps also an assist mode for beginners that will flip your ship the right way up in atmo
smart-ish atmospheric mechanics? meh this is one like one line of code, controlSurfaceForce/altitude , of course for a CIG employee this would be 4 months of work and then it still wouldn't work properly

ОтветитьThink this SCL was a really mxed bag... not much information, with some of it good or at least interessting, some... worrying to be honest. I still feel compelled to compare the flight to X4 and that game puts SC to shame since MM... in X4 I can fight at speeds between 500m-1500m/s. Hell even the fattest, most sluggish battleship, the Asgard flies and fights at 105 while other capitals fly at 200(! thats SCs fighter speed) I never understood whats the problem to use similar speeds as long as the servers can keep up, but that has been debated back and forth hundrets of times and I, as nonexpert, cant tell whos right in this.
Wanting to "remove jousting" proves just a lack of combat dynamic knowledge. A joust happens when the inital attack overshoots... thats literally a skill issue. You can have the same skill issue in World of Warships at 20 knots. People need to learn how to manage their energy... jousting was never efficiant and never will by so why would they do it when they constantly loose? Maybe they are just bad pilots (and dont worry, Im not a good pilot myself, no shame in that - especially in a game that prides itself with the fact that you can do a dozend of other jobs on a ship)
Then the loose of Nav-.mode. Great! Modes suck - yes, they even suck in X4. The operator modes should just be HUD settings, not more not less to allow for different tasks, like the mining HUD is one. BUT: Q-Boost is rubbish. Its just the same and especially in combat it will be used the same way as NAV currently is, as cheap getaway... now with an instant jump. Amazeballs, not! And exploration will be dumbed down to jump loops without free flying at reaonable speed. People will just jump, scan-ping, look 360, jump and repeat. Thats exploration in the future, nothing with actually search an area or map something etc. It will be as gimmicky as things can get. Q-Boost simply shouldnt exist, period!
iirc both CZ's and the Hathor sites had breaking bugs where boards weren't spawning, keycards weren't being made, etc

ОтветитьWhile exploring a PAF, I found a battery left wide open and unattended. I pulled out my multitool and sprinted across the desert to my ship—the Asgard at the time. The moment part of the battery crossed the threshold, it dropped to the ground and became completely immovable. I assumed it was a bug, so I started doing some wild ship maneuvers to force it into the cargo hold.
I managed to get it home and dumped it out, only to find I still couldn’t move it. That’s when I learned the issue wasn’t a bug at all—I was just using a weaker multitool.
I was blown away by that level of detail, and by the fact that the systems are built to work that way. It’s both frustrating and immersive, and honestly, I appreciate that kind of design.
Are flight models going to be different in SQ42? How have they not figured it out yet and are supposedly so close on SQ42?

I bought an E1 because I'm super excited about the gameplay but if we aren't occasionally jumping on the turret or engineering panel then there IS no gameplay. We're just flying around. Fun, but not great for generating UEC.
It's the same for mining, salvage, cargo, etc. If we aren't risking something then we shouldn't expect to gain anything.
Quantum mode is just modified Nav mode. We may be in trouble if speeds are still stuck around 300
I'm not all about "ship combat", but I care about the flight model. You fly everywhere! I don't play anymore because the current flight, which you have to do, feels clunky, slow, and terrible.

ОтветитьAgreed with Farrister. Every added on mission has been reward = better gun, better combat ship. Every reward is PVP related firepower that doesnt really appeal to anyone except for PVP focused players who are in the deep deep minority of players

Id be thrilled to have background content that is NOT the headline feature, anything that uses scanning and searching, even if mildy boring and very difficult to find. Id prefer it not be locked to a location that the trolls can hover around (ie: jumptown)
CIG: stop artificially slowing everything down. ITS SPACE VACUUM. How fast is the ISS moving. Cmon!

ОтветитьSome things Farrister brings up where already in game before CIG messed up over and over. Specifically the flight model. There was a time you couldnt even lift a Reclaimer without activating VTOL. Landing a C2 without VTOL or just nose down was a 100% crash "land". It felt right, it felt heavy. But they made their flight model more casual, implemented space wizardry and everything could stand nose or upside down in atmo. Now they still dont know how to fix this, making the thrusters just "weak" enough to very slowly drift onto the ground. Its depressing how we fantasize about cool features which where once ingame but they removed it and we might never get it back because CIG...
ОтветитьI think that the problem will be landing/taking off- punishing players for not being able to land in next to no time flat by damaging their ships is a dumb idea. People aren't the best at landing and unless they change the way that you land planetside (looking at you, Lorville and Area 18) we're going to see more and more busted hulls laying about.

ОтветитьWhy so hard CIG start with fighters 4 archetype Interceptor Light Medium Heavy fighters with each class having advantage and counter so average pilots can dual without meta. Heavy powerful Light Agile Interceptor Speed is EZ done
ОтветитьMaster modes was problematic because they pasted it over existing operator modes and created conflicts in complex ship operations. They also failed to tie engineering [placeholder] like door locking and lighting modes into the master mode macros.
ОтветитьI’m bummed they cut old content and delay features. Feels like we never have anything except the current event, which goes away after for stability. I can’t even do ghost hallow or jump town.. meanwhile features get delayed year after year, flight modules get reworked and reworked, all the while squadron 42 gets all the attention and money like a new child lol
ОтветитьI understood that top speed will be calculated by mass and thruster power. So putting in more powerful thrusters while shedding off weight like leaving off guns and shields, you'd go much faster than with default setup.
Smaller the ship the more leaving stuff off will matter.
I really wish they'd remove scanning from the flight modes. Just have scanning be V instead of having 6 different modes, or even MORE on something like the Nomad. Even knock it down to 3 with guns, missiles, and a single nav mode.
ОтветитьThe game is like 95% combat I think they need to focus on other promised game play loops like crafting so many things lead into crafting and then crafting feeds into other loops like combat. I think combat is sturdy enough to stand on it's own for a while without so much focus on it.
Ответить"Removing/Killing Master Modes" meant "REVERTING the flight model back to some state before 3.23" for those of us who have been fighting this for the last year now. Unfortunately, from what we can tell, that is also NEVER going to happen because Yogi has been clear in multiple places that anything over 200m/s is 'too fast' for 'SCM mode' so the old, fast unified model - and in fact doing any maneuvers at the speeds we used to is 100% dead. For the folks who were 'dealing' with Master Modes because 'at least you can still use NAV mode to fly the old model even if you don't do combat', the death of NAV mode means that fast flight is completely dead now, which is for many no reason to celebrate.
ОтветитьWhat they could do is have an event where an alien race attacks a planet and takes out the hangers. Then there is a timer for repair before people could spawn their ships but other players could offer transportation services during that timeframe to make some extra money or just to be helpful. It could be a random event that happens across the different planets. This would lead to some other game play that would be fun.
ОтветитьNPC's better abide by the same rules we do when in atmo as they already fly way to well and shoot like a sniper with an smg then you go pick up their gun they where using and it doesnt even have sights or a compensator but where sniping you with it also NPC dont seem to be affected by the fact it's dark out or really bright out or gas clouds they seem to always have perfect vision of you once they detect you and can shoot at you all day then you go and check their body and they never had any ammo on them. NPC's straight up cheat and im tired of it lol. Or they fly around with no wings on their ship but as soon as my wing gets a tiny scratch I blow up or they ram you because they are just an expendable no face NPC with no consequences to them dying as they are just fabricated out of thin air to fight.

ОтветитьWhen it comes to the Hathor sandbox, i think it would have been better if they just released the golem and atlas geo with updates to mining. They still put the Hathor sites in but didnt tell anyone so the players would have needed to discover them on their own
ОтветитьCapping the flight speed and the ceiling of skill and enjoyment of the main mechanic in the game for existing players, to cater to "potential" new players in an alpha game, to me at least, is a clear step in the wrong direction.
Players learn game mechanics, and the sense of growth is what keeps them hooked.
If you tighten that ceiling hard (which imo it's already at the maximum tolerable level), you removes all the engagement and skill required, and the flight characteristics nuances that create memorable encounters.
I absolutely suck at space combat, I have a groundbreaking record of 4 or 5 PvP ship kills since 3.17, but even then, I used to still feel like I had a chance taking on a rookie pilote in a medium fighter, while flying the MSR pre master modes.
