I know there are a billion Indians but why no Indian Elon musk or even bill gates ? I mean let them in if they are truly the top 0.01% , but if they are why aren’t they doing such great things in their country, it’s a rather old country/culture.

So many people in tech are losing their jobs as companies merge and mature. If you are an older worker in tech and laid off there is a good chance you won’t work in your field again.

For a look at the future, visit Irving, Texas. Thousands of Indian software engineers living in little apartments. They aren’t highly skilled and are paid modest salaries. They are taking jobs from Americans and nobody seems to notice or care.

Interesting fact. A large portion of H1B visa's are sponsored by Indian multinationals (Infosys, Wipro...etc) that have no interest in hiring Americans. They prefer Indians because H1-B visa holders are beholden to the firm and can be overworked long hours. Before burning out the H1B visa holder gets USA citizenship and leaves the sponsoring firm. The firm hires more H1-B visa holders from India to fill the vacancy and the cycle repeats. Good for Indians and Indian multinationals but not so good for Americans.

I work in tech in Silicon Valley and have for more than 20 years. All of tech would fall apart without foreign workers.

I think we would be better off with fewer foreign workers giving more really high paying tech jobs to our own population.

That being said, this is the tech capital of the whole world because everyone CAN come here. The brain drain that impacts other nations as workers come here is legit and benefits us immensely!

We absolutely need to keep being a beacon for the brightest workers from each country.

But … I think we should decrease the number of H1-B workers. Especially after tech lost about 500,000 jobs in the last few years. With WAY fewer jobs available each position matters a lot more.

We need a LOT more focus STEM education and we need a LOT more effort to attract women and minorities into the STEM fields at an early age Because the only way to get more representation in management is to get more hired on as juniors and the only way to do that is to get more graduating with the right degrees and the only way to do that is to get more interested in those degrees and the general work at the high school ages.

@realDonaldTrump The biggest threat is that American jobs are going to INDIA‼️ You are trying to protect American companies from China but what about protecting American jobs from India? American companies have offices in India and hire millions of Indians in India while ALSO hiring millions of Indian H1B visa holders on American soil. So we’re losing jobs on both fronts. H1B Indians become Managers and discriminate against American candidates to hire their fellow H1B Indians. They fire and layoff Americans!
Companies are laying off Americans but how do they justify keeping 1 million Indians on H1b visa employed in the United States? The False narrative that Americans aren’t skilled enough has to stop‼️ These h1b visa folks are also buying up property that Americans need but can’t get right now due to low inventory and inflated prices.

LIKE AND RETRUTH TO BUMP THIS UP! DEMAND CHANGE!

Musk says that this has been since the 90's that our education system has gone down. But the problem that I see is that it was going on back then. Instead of hiring Americans, who would have loved to get those jobs, they hired Indians. I remember an American man complaining about that, that he could do the job, but they would not hire him. I heard that Laurie Loomer was on the side of the debate that said this was wrong to give out all these visas. I never though I would say I agree with her. And then Musk says they have to get rid of the racists of the Republican party. That is so rich, as his family though supposably against Apartheid made money off South African workers in the mines. He doesn't care about the South Africans, and he doesn't care about Americans. Let that sink into Trump supporters.

H1-B skilled expats are the top 0.1% of migrants. The remaining 10 million ‘migrants’ are illegal aliens who broke laws to cross over the border. I’m a skilled expat from Australia — my skills were in enough demand for me to skip the H1 queue and be offered permanent residency/green card status. It’s not just tech — America’s healthcare specialists, rocket scientists, university lecturers, pathologists, researchers include massive expat/skilled migrant communities. Could you reporters please get your language right and stop bunching up skilled expats with illegal aliens?

Ответить

No absolutely not. Green card is a bigger threat than illegal immigration. That’s how whites went from 80 percent in 1980 to 54 percent by 2024. Pretty soon they will be almost extinct. Stop mass immigration period. And we’re already at 350 million people. We don’t want to be crowded and chaotic like India.

The fact is the middle America average white/ black/mexican kid struggles to get into top university computer science programs which is dominated by East Indian and Asian students whose parents have taken them to math, spelling, robotics, coding competitions since they were 6 years old and those efforts yield results when it is time for college. Meanwhile your middle America brosphere parents focus totally on making their kid the next Michael Jordan, Buster Posey, or Peyton Manning and when they graduate high school they have very few job skills which apply to todays workforce in fact they are not even in the same league education wise and don't deserve these tech jobs which btw pay these HB1 visa students 150 to 250000 dollars a year not low wages at all. So my message to middle America dads and moms; stop wasting your time trying to drive all over the friggin place to make an NFL/MLB/NBA, quit whining and educate your kid and he will be successful and paid well when he graduates college or trade school with employable skills.

How I wish India's leadership could be half as capable as Chinese leaders. We often brag about Indian-origin corporate leaders or politicians rising to high-profiled positions in the West. But American/British politics is a veritable clown show of hypocrisy, greed and jealousy. Hence it attracts Indian-origin players like Sunak, Vivek, Patel, Kamala etc. because it aligns very well with Indian temperament, and the best Indian talents are in their element relishing in this kind of farcical milieu in both the US, the UK - and Singapore too - adding to the rhetorical fist and fury, raising the roof and, generally, ACCOMPLISHING NOTHING. The ripple effect is a huge inflow of migrants from India - a more insidious erosion of the fundamental British character than the more conspicuous Muslim problem of the day.
