In this range knife is superrior. I have already seen so many knive attack video, they are fast and brutal. Also most of them are surprise attack. You can't do anything unless you have good martial art fighting skills

Son pruebas interesantes pero habría que tener en cuenta el poder de parada del calibre utilizado. Ya que hay que considerar que el atacante con el cuchillo puede seguir avanzando y entonces alcanzar al defensor con pistola pese a recibir los disparos.

i have had a few close calls with knife attackers. Thanksfully they didn't attack, because at the time I was going through somethings and I was not in my right mind. I would have died those days.

Front kick by the gun holder defeats the knife attack every time. Creates space and allows for a full draw.

doesn't help the defender is literally doing the slowest draw place. try appendix draw instead

This video isn’t testing survivability it’s testing avoiding being hit at all. Of course you could block a slash or stab with your arm, of course the attacker could keep going after being shot. That’s just not the point. This is a base, reference point. Not an entire challenge.

Good knife work try swating the gun down with your left hand while still attacking the neck with your right hand

The big thing is that the knife guy won't announce his presence, you'll be walking down the street, and you have a gun, and someone just walks and or runs from behind you, appearing unarmed, and boom, knife. It's not exactly about being a ninja, it's that you're a law abiding citizen with a gun, and he's a guy that wants to commit a crime with a knife.
Not to mention that even in a straight up fight, I've seen videos of guys with a knife that tank over 6 bullets, only to still stab the target. I'd personally just catch the bullets mid flight if it were me, but having them bounce off of me would make do I guess. Either or, close quarters the gun doesn't work as well as a knife, too one dimensional and again, no law abiding citizen is expecting a crime and is always alert.

This guy is really slow on drawing his gun A pro would have unloaded the clip into the attacker before he could get half way to him maybe close yeah the knife might win distracted better learn to throw buddy because A pro with A gun will draw A lot faster really work on that draw

CCW holders must train as if their life depends on it, because it does. Situational awareness & being highly trained buys you time, and time gives you options. Try to avoid every fight, but if you can’t get away, make sure you put yourself in a better position to weight the outcome in your favor - cheat the draw, put obstacles between you and the attacker, constant lateral movement or increase separation as you attempt to de-escalate.

That’s why I hate training on static ranges - standing in a booth/lane & shooting from a static position on a static target creates bad habits that become muscle memory. This will get you killed.

A gunfight is not a static engagement or an exercise in precision/target shooting. It’s a race to first lethal hits. If you fail to train with realistic parameters, you will do what you have always done - shoot like on a flat range, standing tall with arms fully extended & perfect sight alignment from one spot.

Train reflexive/point shooting, with lateral movement and from less than ideal positions (gun indexed on target from the draw, at your side & chest, from your back, one arm extended, sitting etc) until you are confidently lethal. It’s not the movies - it will take more than one bullet to stop a threat. Be peaceful, but not harmless. Stay dangerous, stay armed.

Two years ago and I was in Colombia I was attacked by two guys that were bigger than me in the woods that had knives and ambushed me surprisingly never been in the situation before I did get stabbed in the face and leg, I guarantee if I would’ve had a gun that would’ve resolved the situation pretty quickly but whenever I’m in Colombia now I carry a push dagger.

Doug Marcadia has a similar video where the guy with the gun is facing away and the guy with the blade is 10 mtr away and he runs and stabs the guy everytime without warning thats why cops have a distance rule.

If you can't hit the chest and you know he's going to shoot you, can you choose to attack his armed hand and disable him? Is that more efficient than attacking the chest?

I carry a straight handle blade. A long and short. One for each hand. I do wing chun knife fighting. Safe draw distance exists for a reason. You use a knife to make enough space to pull out a pistol. 5 feet minimum. At melee range, I can dual wield too. Wing chun is great for that. Trying to join the Canadian Army. Why think so close mindedly? You don't need to pick one or the other. You can have a gun and knife on you at the same time. A belt sheath is easy enough to find. Most good knives come with them. I have a double edged smith and Wesson h.r.t dagger. Full tang. 6 inch blade. And a ka-bar that's full tang as well. The blade is almost a foot long. Both built for fighting. They come out so fast, it scares even me. I got into the right martial art. It's saved my life a few times. I keep both blades on my left hip, and use southpaw stance, just like someone would in boxing or fencing. I put the long one in the hand which is faster, and has more reach. The one adjacent to your front foot. I keep the small one in my off hand. I'm trying to find something I can use as a shield instead. I might just say fuck it and start carrying a literal shield. I get threatened with knives almost every day. Here where I live, defending yourself or anyone with lethal force is illegal. Even if someone is raping your daughter in front of you, you have to wait for the fucking cops, which won't get there in time anyway. Defending yourself usually means prison, here.

People under estimate this debate. First people with guns carry them but most have never used it on a human being. This is different than a range target and you can't train for it. Plus they are afraid of going to jail for a mistake so they will usually act like they aren't carrying. They'll forget to create distance and let a person get in their faces. They will hesitate because they're nervous. This has never happened before to them. My point is that even though they have a gun, they lack the Will to Act.

Conversely, a person wielding a knife is far more likely to actually use it. They usually won't brandish it until their right up on you. A knife is quiet adding to the likelihood they will actually use it because they can escape more easily. A person with a knife who employs stealth and deception is FAR MORE dangerous than a person with a gun who is unaware that the fight has already started.

When you have gun in your hand , distance is your friend and proximity is your enemy. Defender here is just dumb guy. Plus remember knife can be thrown at you from distance as well.

If you strongly suspect or know the other person has a knife and is going to attack you, might be good to have your hand on the gun ahead of time or even draw it, pointed to the ground, but in hand ready to aim and fire.

If you don't know the other person is going to attack, the reaction time would be slower than shown.

On the other hand, the knife attacker did not show any fear of being shot, which while that may be possible, most people don't want to be shot. Point being, even if the knife attacker hits the gun wielder, what are the chances the gun wielder would still shoot the knife wielder? Because of that, if I were the knife wielder it seems like the primary target would be the gun hand and forearm, to prevent the gun from being used.

this does not take into consideration individuals of differing skill level and speed, strenght and accuracy! a skilled knife fighter may have an advantage. but if you can draw and fire at a compatition speed 1.0 or better second and you have an 8 foot gap I doubt that many people could traverse 8 feet in one second or less fastest draw in the world is 0.24 seconds.

Ответить
@ABGAN100
@ABGAN100 - 27.03.2025 19:28

This is based on both individuals being at near to same level of skill, this is not real world synario if some out of shape 200 lb man comes at a 50lb woman with a knife and she has a 1.0 sec draw and an 8 foot distance carrying a glock with 17 rounds of 9mm the 200 lb couch potato will be dead in seconds!
