Haha, you got me with the S+ category 😂
ОтветитьWell done Dave. You tricked me. I was all set to write a comment mentioning The Dead Zone and then your broke out the S+ tier.
ОтветитьMy s tier short story collection is nightmares and dreamscapes and for his other work it’s Salem’s lot, rose madder and fire starter
ОтветитьJust started this and I know I’ll disagree soon enough but wholeheartedly agree with your Talisman rating.
ОтветитьI am just going give my S teir, The Stand, Needful Things, and Dolores Claiborne (DC I read at work in two days between calls I was taking. I was so pissed people were bothering me with billing questions when I had this great book I wanted finish.)
ОтветитьTommyknockers is pure cocaine if you stiff the pages you can still get a little high.
ОтветитьThe Stand D! Utter madness hahah Dave I am loving this video despite my disagreement with some rankings lol
ОтветитьYour S+ tier is spot on if obviously add The Stand as that’s my all time favourite but all of yours are absolutely stunning books.
ОтветитьGlad you made a tier list- i just can't- I like them all (well almost all) too much. My question is: who is more trumpy- Stillson from Dead Zone or Big Jim from Under The Dome?
ОтветитьDave if you have Shudder this coming week Horror's Greatest are doing a special on King adaptations :)
ОтветитьMy S tier has:
Cujo, The Shining and The Stand.
A Tier has:
Later, Duma Key and You Like It Darker
My B-tier has:
Rose Madder, IT, Finders Keepers.
C-tier has:
Gerald’s Game, Mr Mercedes and Bazaar of Bad Dreams.
In my D-tier, we have:
The Talisman, Cycle of the Werewolf and The Eyes of the Dragon.
E tier has:
Insomnia, End of Watch and The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon.
F tier has:
Rage, Wind Through The Keyhole and The Colorado Kid
Great video as usual and happy birthday to the King of horror!
ha ha, yeah, you got me, that was pretty funny... nice one!
Ответитьok
F - geralds game or fairy tale
C - the shining
S - dolores claiborne
S+ - salems lot
For my tier rating I’d put the Wizard and Glass in F tier, I’d put Needful Things in C Tier, and I’d put Salem’s lot in my S tier.
ОтветитьAll 9 Stephen King books I've read, ranked
1. The Stand (S+)
2. IT (S+)
3. The Long Walk (S)
4. The Shining (S)
5. On Writing (S)
6. Needful Things (A)
7. Doctor Sleep (C)
8. 11/22/63 (C)
9. The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger (E)
Dark Tower in the middle makes total sense to me. Rating each book for itself, I have some in the S/S+ tiers (like The Waste Lands) and one in F (Song of Susannah).
Another S/S+ is Revival.
In C tier would maybe put Holly as well.
S+: The Stand; Night Shift
S: Salem's Lot; The Long Walk
A: Carrie
B: The Shining
C: The Dead Zone; Firestarter
F: Rage
So it was an opportunity to quickly put together a Tier Ranking of all the King I read so far. With the each ranking having at least 3 books in some I did enjoy more that it looks like. Anyway here it is:
- [ ] S: Gearald’s Game, The Green Mile, Pet Sematary
- [ ] A: The Shining, Needful Things, Night Shift
- [ ] B: Billy Summers, Doctor Sleep, Skeleton Crew, Different Seasons
- [ ] C: Charlie, Joyland, Carrie
- [ ] D: Cujo, Nightmare and Dreamscapes, The Long Walk
- [ ] E: Roadwork, The Dark Half, Four Past Midnight
- [ ] F: Desperation, The Gunslinger, The Tommyknockers
S+: The Shining
S: Duma Key
A: Joyland
B: Cujo
C: The Regulators
F: Roadwork
Well This was a great list. I was so glad to see IT and Pet Sematary on here and I don't care if that's cheating. I'm sorry, but on the X for me would be the Tommy knockers. I tried to read it.... I really did but I couldn't even finish it that's how bored I got with it. Maybe it deserves a reread. It started out pretty good and I do think there's a book in there somewhere. Next would be desperation. I thought it started out really good but it kind of lost me near to the end. The C tear, I think I'd have to put the Stand. I thought it was a great book but it did get draggy at the part where theyr' rebuilding and I thought the ending could have been way better. I know most say it's his masterpiece but i dont' know if I agree with that. I did enjoy the book and i'd probably read it again. I think I have way more on the S list for the top. I have to put Christine for all of the reasons u mentioned and there are some really great kills in it. I often reread this one. Carrie of course, The shining I think is one of the scariests books I've ever read. I have to talk about Cujo because I've only read it once and it bothered me so much but that's what horror's all about. Pet Sematary I think is some of his best work and I agree with you on his writing about grief. I think he has written it so acurately especially for such a horrific loss. And i agree with you on reading this book as you get older. I actually think it's scarier because we understand grief and death more as an adult than we did as children. And of course IT is way up there too! I love hoe he writes for the losers club and Pennywise was really scary. I may have more to add to this list especially for the top. Awesome video!
ОтветитьDoing a chronological read through (midway through 90s thus far). I listed below a couple of my more hot-takey choices - though there’s only one book in each of my D and F tiers so far:
S+ (top 5): The Waste Lands
S (5/5): The Dark Half
A (4.5/5): Eyes of the Dragon
B (4/5): Pet Sematary
C (3.5/5): Carrie
D (3/5): Rage
F(<3/5): Roadwork
Lovely ranking! 11.22.63 is on my top as well. In my opinion it's a modern classic everyone should read!
ОтветитьYou forgot Night Shift! I assume that would be A or S tier. Also Skeleton Crew and Full Dark, No Stars.
ОтветитьS+: 11/22/63
S: Bag of Bones
A: Revival
B: Finders Keepers
C: Eyes of the Dragon
F: Gwendy's Final Task
I hit subscribe as soon as you compared trump to the politician in the dead zone.
ОтветитьThe stand/ wizard and glass
It/ under the dome
11/23/1963
Song of Susannah
Talisman
It gets too weird with all the 11-year-old sex and stuff. but that’s only a couple pages and otherwise immaculate book
ОтветитьIt is the first time I see Insomnia on a list and I super agree with that! It is the most gory experience I've ever had reading a Stephen's King book! Awesome ranking! Thank you ;)
ОтветитьLove this! Would be very interested in a longer episode of tier ranking ALL of his book. Love your videos Dave, keep it up!
ОтветитьSome people have wondered if King was compromised along the way, with an underage girl or even a child (people remark on the child abuse in some of his books). Older folks like me remember Howard Hunt of a certain 3-letter agency who was a writer. Did King get rich & famous on his own, or was he touted and Made famous? Where is all the money really going? Who is this prolific? Is he really writing it all, does some else write part of it? Is he being used as a front for the money for someone else? Some of his stuff is 1,000 pages of stuff with no ending, it’s just spewing. Did he become Richard Bachman to write his own Real books? The circumstances surrounding the car accident were always questionable—some think somebody wanted him dead already. He may have agreed to something in order to take care of his daughter, who has severe health problems. Watch some of his old tv interviews & he looks like someone putting on a really good Show. And his marxist social media posts are so over the top they almost look like a cry for help. I hope the truth about King will be known one day. I read everything he wrote in the 70s & early 80s & loved it, until the first thousand page tome that went nowhere.
ОтветитьI feel like I am the only person on earth who loves black house. I loved the notion that a particular serial killer was possessed by a demon. I also loved the bikers kicking ass!
ОтветитьBack when I still had some spare time earlier this year, I took a little literary walk that included, back to back to back, (Sinclair Lewis's) It Can't Happen Here (for the obvious political reason you're thinking of), followed by The Dead Zone, followed by 11/22/63. Quite a walk, but a very fulfilling one. Thank you for being the spark behind taking that journey (your Twinners video is what did it).
ОтветитьI've long championed Buick 8 and Insomnia, great to see them on the list. But I'm 53 , I'm not having S tier!!! A. Or 1. Or best to worst.
S+.....🤯Not having it!!!! (Great work)
Tommyknockers is my absolute favourite King book. It’s got the perfect ending.
ОтветитьDreamcatcher is a novel that was at the bottom of my pile when I first read it to shoot to my Top 10 in my reread. Couldn’t believe a book I hated I would end up loving.
ОтветитьHi Dave, I like your bracelet. Free Palestine!
