Just cut the butt on my Fenwick for the kayak - extra long butt and it was a real pain (in the). Worked out ok and integrated some steel for counterbalance.
Came out ok - will have to see if it improves the fishing - medium light fast 7 footer - the long butts are just too much of a problem in the yak!
Does the longer 7'6" rod have the short butt also?
ОтветитьI'll have to check this one out. I've been using a Shimano GLF rod which seems to have a similar build. Very good for inshore kayak fishing as well. I love my Mojo Inshore. I use that rod for almost everything.
ОтветитьI have this rod in a caster that I paired with a curado dc. It is absolutely my favorite set up. Love the accuracy that it gives me. I plan to get the spinner model to pair with my penn battle II.
ОтветитьGood rod 👍
ОтветитьI bought the 7'6" med/hvy power/fast action version a couple weeks ago, so I'm happy to hear you like this rod. I'm considering putting a Daiwa Fuego LT 3000 on it. Do you think this would be a good fit ? It's between the Fuego and the Daiwa Saltist BackBay 3000. I'm on the fence, so your opinion would help !
ОтветитьSt croix inshore legend extreme
ОтветитьWould you guys consider doing the new Penn battle 3?
ОтветитьI fish with fin wicks can you do a review on the world class Fenwick
ОтветитьThese Mojo rods are decent for the money but not the holy grail the internet makes them out to be by a long shot
ОтветитьThey are very impressive rods but why purple on the mojos???
ОтветитьI own three all different lengths and action. Love them.
Ответитьbought 2 of those , they broke so easy on a little mangrove trees , my ugly sticks didn’t get not even a scratch , I just got rid of them. I guess I’m not too delicate with things , wouldn’t buy them again
ОтветитьThanks very much for this report. I ordered one of these rods last week! Good to know it seems like i made the right decision for kayak fishing. Can’t wait until it arrives so i can test it out. A Diawa Fuego LT 3000 will be fitted on the 7’-6” med rod. I worried a bit about the front heavy balance I had anticipated due to the short handle. Surly something that can be gotten used to. Thanks again.
ОтветитьPlease help me
ОтветитьAll be it said, i love the light weight...however a high modulous rod has its draw backs meaning as you know....its weaker..i dont like that
ОтветитьLol 50 dollars to have it replaced...doesnt seem like a good bargain when youre talking about what a 300 dollar rod. Thats no warranty
ОтветитьI just bought a mojo rod from St.Croix, about 4 weeks ago. I contacted them by email and called the day it was delivered. The tip is set way out of line with the other eyelets. I contacted them 3 more times afterwards and received no answer back( with pics and all). I guess since your from Salt Strong you get treated differently. Their customer service isn’t that great. It’s a nice looking rod though. So if your buying a rod from them, good luck.
ОтветитьSo it looks like you will have problems with large fish? Was this intended as a fresh water rod.
ОтветитьHow use a two piece rod will it work the same way ?
ОтветитьSalt Strong, so a rod is a rod but having it balanced with the right reel makes all the difference. I have this Mojo Yak rod in 7'6 and had a Penn 440ssg reel on it. The reel felt to heavy for the rod. It was 14.3 oz. I actually hooked a large ray and after about 10 mins to the yak my arm was sore. After watching Tony's review on the Stradic 3000 7.9oz I ordered one. Perfect is my thought on this rod and reel combination. I have it lined with 10lb braid, 25lb leader. Now not only is the Stradic super smooth like a machined instrument but the rod itself feels right.
I plan to fish over the next day or two and can add more if I catch any fish.
I've never owned any rod more expensive than $60, but I've held rods like the St. Croix and Fenwicks. I'm thinking about the Fenwick inshore rod, i loved the feel and balance of it in hand so it would be interesting comparing the two brands. I use a shimano scimitar and so far I am liking it especially for $40 (The butt is very long haha).
ОтветитьHey Wyatt, thanks for the insight and information. In looking over the St. Croix website I see that the Mojo Yak series has both a Freshwater and Saltwater version of each. Can y'all expand on the key differences, of either these or other fishing rods, that define them as Fresh or Saltwater? Thanks again for your time.
ОтветитьWhat size reel were you using? I have that exact rod (7'MF) on order, and im going to attach my Diawa 2500 Fuego LT to it.
ОтветитьJust ordered a 7ft ML with a Shimano Sahara fi 2500. Glad to see I made a good choice with the rod!
ОтветитьI don't think that the handle is actually any shorter than their standard series. The 7'6 Mojo Yak is 11" to the trigger according to the handle chart on St Croix's website, whereas the 7'6 in the Legend Elite series is 10" to the trigger... So either St. Croix's website is wrong or this is a gimmick. I love St. Croix, but I am not sold on these rods. Does anyone have the same size in the yak and standard series that can measure it to confirm?
ОтветитьI'm not a diehard fisherman and I'll confess I bought the rod because it is hard to find a quality "adult" rod in purple. Most fishing I do is pan fish, catfish & bass. Sounds like I bought the wrong rod for that, but I want a quality rod that has purple in it.
ОтветитьThank you for this review
ОтветитьDo you have to use for just kayak
ОтветитьI would Love to see the mojo bass rod review.
ОтветитьOk, as a member of Salt Strong I bought this rod the first one broke on a whopping 16 years much trout. After waiting over a month for the replacement rod, that one broke on a 22 inch redfish. On a separate note they no longer use Fuji seats or guides, your review was compelling but the rod is no longer the one you reviewed. I will stick with TFO and Waterloo from this time going ahead! Thank you
ОтветитьGood for original rapala?
Ответитьhi brother, I wanted to buy this rod because they talk about it in the videos, that is, it seems fantastic, then I open this video and read a lot of negative comments about the fact that the rod often breaks, would you recommend it to me? And how did you find yourself with this rod?
Ответить
