The private equity take over of veterinary practices is what's fueling the insane pet surrender crisis, happening all over the country too!!
ОтветитьSadly, individual private vets are charging the same or more 😢
ОтветитьPeople can’t afford to spay or neuter their pets in Clark County Washington. We’re having to drive an hour plus away to an office that has more reasonable prices.
ОтветитьJust like everything else when you go corporate you get screwed. Everything about it gets impossible to deal with I had a little Chihuahua who had a bad tooth they were going to charge me $12,000 to get one tooth pulled. Because they wanted to do all these tests first. And I told him no I don't want the test I will sign them off just remove the tooth. And it was still almost $800. I just left and treated the tooth myself and it eventually just fell out. I was taking a chance but the infection wasn't very bad and I cleared it up. It is utterly disgusting what these people think is a reasonable charge. When my vet looked at my dog's tooth his eyes lit up because he knew he was going to get some money out of it. He didn't care about my dog. Needless to say I don't go to that vet anymore!
ОтветитьJust like they did with western medicine.
ОтветитьSame with everything. You will own nothing and you will be happy!! 🤬
Ответитьa blood test plus urine plus a check up is 900bucks
Ответитьevil greed
Ответить✨What has happened to humanity and being humane ? Killing a pet because it needs care is unacceptable!
We need a government funded health care system for those who can’t afford a veterinarian. I have a senior therapy service dog who I love dearly .
I am absolutely dreading if something happens to him .
He has given to me and to others his whole life .
He helped at the Homeless Shelter for 2 years during the pandemic . Staff and clients benefited greatly from him .
Yet there’s nobody to help him … it breaks my heart thinking about it . 😢
Any suggestions out there are welcomed. ✨🌲🐕🦺😊🕊️✨
I live in California and there is a corporate veterinary hospital chain called VCA. Although they are a corporation, their prices are reasonable and their services are excellent and I can’t recommend them highly enough. On the other hand, there is a certain private veterinary hospital near where I live in North CA which it is owned by a private veterinarian, and she is known for harming animals and killing them.
So it is not all black and white and some discernment is recommended.
Also, we work remotely with a holistic vet who lives in LA and he does an amazing job and saved our dog REMOTELY.
Finally, here are some of my own lessons which I’d like to share:
1. NEVER vaccinate your animal using pharmaceutical vaccines. They are cancer time capsules. Look into HOLISTIC alternatives instead.
2. Don’t feed your dogs with kibble. It’s poison and will cost you lots of vet bills for the long run. Instead, cook for your dogs fresh meals. Also, don’t give your dogs any DAIRY. Not good for them.
3. There are a lot of conditions that you can address at home without the need for vet visits and expensive treatments. For example: my rescue dog was diagnosed with diabetes 3 years ago and the vet warned us that she might go blind. After doing some research, I learned about the amazing benefits of CASTOR oil which we’ve been applying into our dog’s eyes ever since. Her eye sight is still perfect and she has no cloudiness at all.
4. Homeopathy and Chinese medicine work WONDERS for dogs!!! Pretty much ANY condition you can imagine that you treat for humans using homeopathy or Chinese medicine, can be treated for dogs.
Hope this helps, and God bless you all! 🔥🙏🏻🧡
In Georgia a couple was
put in jail because they brought their very sick dog to a vet to be euthanized. They were charged with animal abuse.
This is one of the major reasons I left the veterinary field , I was an icu/er tech for 22yrs and I've seen how corporations have ruined the field.
ОтветитьMany Socialist and Communist governments euthanize human beings, promote abortion, and it follows that they would have no problem killing pets, too. Life means nothing. The important thing is money. 😢
ОтветитьIs there something we can do to stop this?
Ответитьheartbreaking, try hard to find a privately owned vet practice. they are out there. its a shame m we love you Dr. Jones
ОтветитьVery true about corporate take over, so sad😢
ОтветитьInsulin for my 10 lb min pin costs $70 a month. Plus “prescription” low fat dog food plus vet bills. Dog costs more to live than I do
ОтветитьWE ARE TO BLAME! Black Rock & Vanguard & State Street use OUR retirement investment accounts to buy all of these. WE CONTROL THIS! Look in the mirror when you want someone to blame, lazy investors!
ОтветитьThat’s happened in our area and the corporation retained the original practice name. There’s been a lot of turnover-replacements are very young. Ok, they’re educated with the latest in vet medicine, but they lack experience. Prices are raised to increase shareholder value, just like wealthcare for humans.
ОтветитьIn my country xray for pets cost more than xray for human 😅. The minimum i pay for my xray is $8 while my pet is $16
ОтветитьI’m disappointed that my vat recommended an MRI and potential surgery for my 17 year old Bichon who has IVDD. They seem to be pushing more expensive treatments lately.
ОтветитьNOT GOOD!! It's a major rip off & they don't care about your pets & definitely not you!!
ОтветитьI'm sorry but ALL pets should now require COMPULSORY VET INSURANCE if they want to own or buy one. Maybe special rates for diabled etc.
ОтветитьYou just explained qhi there are so many animals abandoned buy there family. Now the only way to get help for yoyr animals is to abandoned it. Crazy if we made away this would change dramatically.
ОтветитьI can go to the Doctor and it's cheaper than my dog going to the vet.😧 Thank you Dr. Jones for being so great and educating us.
ОтветитьSo true so sad, wrong... For us humans too!
ОтветитьThey did this to human doctors also
ОтветитьReminds me of something from "Grapes of Wrath" when the corporations were taking over the farms, the farmer asked " who do we shoot?
ОтветитьSame is happening in Australia.
Ответитьnew vets are too lazy to own a practice.
Ответитьcorporate greed is destroying a once noble honest caring profession. And the AVMA allowed it.
ОтветитьThe new clinic for Northern Arizona is taking shape.
Affordable Vet Mobile Veterinary Clinic is set to open in late June and will be located in Valle (Grand Canyon Junction) at the Raptor Center (Bedrock City Park).
Thank you for exposing these corporations! The practice is absolutely disgusting. Your vet should know both you and your pet just like your Dr. They should be looking at us like friends because in all honesty we actually do see them as friends. Now that the clinics have been bought over the vets have no option but to follow the new protocol for pricing and how they handle each situation. You're killing our pets because we can't afford all the unnecessary tests and expenses when you already know how to treat the problem!
ОтветитьThank ya Dr.Jones. I am very grateful to you for caring like ya do to keep the people aware of the truth and helping us to take better care of own pets.👍🏻🙏🏻
ОтветитьOne you showed on the opening has taken over our area. They get you credit and a year to pay it off. Give figures for emergency gallbladder cystocele surgery. Outrageous The independent vets that are left do not do emerg care anymore sends you there and they get a cut of fee which is in the thousands now. Eventually they won’t have any patients left to make money from bec a lot of us follow Dr jones.
ОтветитьVeterinary clinics have become like a timeshare business. So much fraud and pushing for expensive procedures due to corporate takeover. The animals health is rarely the focus 🤑🤑🤑🤑
ОтветитьThank you so much for what you do!!
ОтветитьEconomic euthanasia. So sad.
ОтветитьI went to a beautiful pet hospital, and was treated terribly. This corp. runs nursing homes, too. They followed me around every time I left the waiting room or stepped out the glass walled doors. Wouldn't let me and another client talk, but led me back to the room. The veternarian was tired. The place understaffed on vets, but not the loitering employees. She told me to euthanize the cat or put in a shelter where they would euthanize him, or give her carte blanche to do whatever she could at an unamed and high cost, like in the $6k range. Extortion
Then her worker was hiding out just jawing with me and I was amusing him, so I thought, with tales over 7 decades. He goes back with a mish mash of that . I wanted to say that I did not believe in eurhanizing unless truly needed, but said I'd only had to kill one dog. Then they plugged their ears. This was 35 years ago, a dog given to me, whose past vet with different owners said she would die that summer - a 45 pd frame of a shepherd with well over 200 pounds on it. We worked with her and got 6 more years before the hip just suddenly came apart. This was in a separate county before present code was written... on over 10 acres, with the help of a vet tech, registered nurse, and past chief of neurology with his researcher wife. They brought meds; I only assisted. The value I was trying to explain was that you do not dump your pet and walk off. But they got it all mixed up. And yes, this was the first time any place that I'd seen took a pet and took it away from the owner to examine it. The vet lady got really visibly upset. I queried her, and she said something insulting. Then, I paid over $200 and left. The next thing I knew, the police were at my door, the animal control chief officer. He said he had to take pictures inside ( mortifying), and I went with it rather than demand a warrant. So long and short is, he saw the cat, recommended someone else that was much more like this site- in her own practice. She wrote a report that conflicted totally with what the first had said . And what the first had said WAS bad- the first hospital one. It was all over until the Hospital vet had her worker call and report me over again. By then, I was loaded for bear and intending to sue the entire chain of vet hospitals and nursing homes. But I stayed calm. Our police are not naive. So it passed. She was trying to charge me with animal abuse, killing a cat ( not sure where they got that one, as I never said anything remotely like that), practicing veterinary medicine. The latter, I don't. I add better diets and appropriate vitamins, keep water clean, etc. So I told the officers "look if I was doing that , then why was I over there paying them between $200 and $300 dollars?" I never realized this Big Takeiver was happening; I only knew I couldn't find the two or three offices I'd used a decade before. And the other close ones were booked for a week. I knew it was becoming a problem for people; that would be another long tale. But I hadn't yet figured it was happening with pet care. Quite a stressful eye opener.
I guess I’m lucky in my state the majority of clinics are privately owned by locals. Support local businesses! It’s still expensive though but so is everything else unfortunately.
ОтветитьThat is so sad😢
ОтветитьCorporate greed!
ОтветитьThank you you are amazing for speaking the truth 🤍
ОтветитьThis is happening worldwide. Wouldn’t vets and GPs be better to form a cooperative model and share the clinic costs or have a home with vet room attached?
ОтветитьMy son had to take out a bank loan to afford care for his cat. It’s outrageous.
ОтветитьEso esta sucediendo ahora en Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
ОтветитьThank you for this enlightenment. I did not think of this happening in veterinary medicine. 😝
ОтветитьIt's really sad
ОтветитьThank you for acknowledging this. Yep. So sadly true.
Overheard an "owner" of vet clinic i once used when owned independently, gloating about how much money the clinic made. Was shocked, horrified. I once trusted that vet practice when owned by one caring good animal dr, until about 20 years ago.
And... then the advent of pet insurance industry.
