JOHN DEERE 4650 Tractor Field Cultivating

My favorite field cultivating tractor is a John Deere 8960, I hope to drive one someday.

I have grown up and did several thousands of hours on open station tractors in Africa, on 3040 and 4040 and 3240 and still have a 4440 closed cab with hours of original hours of 9300 and still going strong.

That tractor was excellent tractor my neighbor had one and we had a 4640 and it alot more HP than my tractor but I still love that 4640 very good tractor,

Beautiful looking tractor may not be so much fun in 104° heat but on a day like when you were filming it that looks like fun

This looks like a fun tractor to run! It needs a 4" curved chrome straight pipe and the pump turned to 215 hp! Personally I prefer 2WD due to better steering and I would want axle dual 20.8-38s in back! Cabs are nice but not an absolute necessity as I have spent whole summers on a mower so open station is fine with me!

We didn't have a high horsepower one but we had a 4440 4-post ROPS

Drove these back in 1983, 84. Great machine. Liftarm lever three hydraulics and a light switch! No b.s🤠

What a dream of a tractor you are 4650 John Deere, don’t know why you would want or need more tractor than this.

We have a 4650 with a sound guard cab and a 15 speed power shift transmission

Good old Iron

Growing up during the 70's and early 80's,most of my tractor time was spent on open air tractors from 4020's with a two bar canopy,4030's with four post and 4640 with four post.I do love them for the same reasons this gentleman mentioned.Its a little rough in high dust conditions and cold or wet weather,but again,nothing beats being able to smell the fresh dirt.

A couple observations....that field cultivator is doing an excellent job. And that is FARMING. And, that hood looks like it's 15' long lol. Good video Jason👍

Man, this takes me back to my younger days. Cabs are great in the cold or heat or dust, but there's something about an open station that still suits me.

I have never seen a 4650 open station before, what a unique beauty😀

Are there no rocks in that part of the country? That soil looks so nice. I grew up in the upper Midwest, and I'm pretty sure we had more rocks than actual top soil in our fields. 😄

Awesome video Jason you should try to find someone who has a John Deere 7810 auto quad tractor. They were more common in the euros but they were available in the us in 2000 but they are either very rare or everyone who has one isn’t letting them go. I’ve been looking for one for a long time and you only see one here and there. Im a small cow calf farmer in southeast ky have a 6155r and a 6420 but my dream tractor would be a 7810 autoquad with a 741 loader if you ever see one that would be awesome find.

That is a nice tractor. Open stations let you get a feel for how things are going.

I really like the 50 series tractors

That's a real tractor, not an air-conditioned office on wheels!
I had an early 60's JD 2wd tractor, with narrow front tires. Riding along in this video gave me the sensation of when I drove my old tractor.

I grew up on the 30 and 40 series tractors farming tobacco in North Carolina. So many great memories. My father’s bought the first sound guard cab with air conditioning our local dealer sold. A 4230. I spent many hours in that seat and miss them all.

It has been too long ago now, and I was too young to remember, but I believe my uncle owned a similar JD (maybe a couple of years newer?) with a full cab. If I was giving the opportunity, I would have purchased my grandfather’s 1968 or 1972ish turbo JD without a cab.

Looks like a lot of wheel slip. My grandfather and uncle bought their last new tractor with a 4 post cab 4440.

The 50 series has the exhaust right in the field of view. They finally rerouted it with the 60 series. It's not really a big deal, but more of an annoyance.

It was strange to my ears to hear the term "cultivator" applied to a seedbed preparation tool. Where I grew up "cultivator" referred to the attachment to remove weeds in a field of a row crop that was already established.

I still love the open-cab, 2-wheel drive tractors. That was a great segment interviewing the operator sitting still. I’d like to see more of those in the future, if you can Jason…
