National Health Counil-Patients and Technology

In February 2012, the National Health Council held its annual Voluntary Health Leadership Conference in San Diego, California.

This event brought together the chief executive staff and volunteers from the nation's leading patient advocacy organizations to examine current health policy and managerial issues for nonprofits.

Three panelists discussed social media and new technology can engage the patient community and be used to strengthen the voice of people with chronic conditions. The National Health Council interviewed panel moderator Doug Ulman, CEO of LIVESTRONG, about the research his organization has done on what patients understand about new health technology.
