One of the best baseball movies I've seen. Burton is very believable as Ron LeFlore. A great performance!
ОтветитьRobbed a bar in the middle of the night and drove off with no headlights on. 😆
ОтветитьBilly Martin acted well in this movie also
ОтветитьMy kids grew up with Burton on *ReadingRainbow tv. It's funny to see him here as a little thug. And I ask you, how cool is the name LeVar!!!!
ОтветитьThe kid who plays Ron's brother, looks a lot like the child actor from the
"Moesha" TV sitcom (Marcus T. Paulk).
This just shows the power of directing, script-writing and editing that this show was loaded with gifted actors, many of whom went on to huge careers, yet much of the dialog feels no more or less clunky out of their mouths as it does from people like Billy Martin and Mickey Stanley.
Al Kaline, on the other hand...
Billy Martin was a decent actor!
ОтветитьSad but cool 😎
ОтветитьThis movie made me root for the Detroit Tigers.
ОтветитьMy relative plays pro baseball today!
ОтветитьIt was in 1978 or 79 that I went to a Detroit Tiger's game and waited outside the old Tiger Stadium players parking exit waiting for LeFlore to drive out. After more than two hours after the game ended, sure enough the great Ron LeFlore drove out in a late model green Thunderbird (I think) with two hot white chicks in his car. I ran like hell after his car on Trumbull Avenue screaming for him to stop and sign my One In A Million book. He stopped in the middle of Trumbull, lowered his car window and laughed asking me what I wanted. I said to him can you please sign my book as "Twinkle Toes Boscoe" and he laughed so hard and said he couldn't, but did sign Ron LeFlore and shook my hand.
I am now 60 years old and I just wanted to thank you again Mr. LeFlore for one of the most memorable moments of my life. I think about that day from time to time and I thank the Gods that I was lucky enough to have crossed paths and share my appreciation with one of my life's greatest heros and one of the most electrifying major league baseball players in history! Earl Marshawn Washington, artist. Born 1962
And thank you Mr. Donaldson, my amazing Pony League baseball coach, Ron LeFlore's cousin.
To much tragedy in this world wish it would slow down.
ОтветитьMy mom is in the movie your grandmother, son.
ОтветитьI think he's going to get yourself back in trouble again and then so he can see his brother or he didn't try to get stuff in trouble but you know things work
ОтветитьThis movie is still relevant in 2023... the streets don't love you and you have the power to change your out come.
ОтветитьWow my elementary school use to force me to watch an inmate.. criminal
ОтветитьLove this story!
ОтветитьThank you for making this available. I'm doing research on Ron and am going to release an episode on him.
Ответитьkl
ОтветитьGood movie.
ОтветитьI had never heard of this movie until a couple of nights ago when I watched it. I still had the tab up, so I am commenting today, 6/5/2023. I loved it! I also searched the real Ron LeFlore. I have more interviews and clips to watched, however, I truly enjoyed this black history. Thanks for sharing :)
Ответить"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." St John 3:16!

ОтветитьLove me some LeVar
ОтветитьI wonder how accurate this movie is to the real story of Ron Leflore. I do recall seeing him playing MLB . He was an amazing player. He had a rough upbringing, but he preserved through all the hardships to become a beloved athlete. Way to go Mr. Ron
Leflore
Levar burton is a terrific actor.
ОтветитьLeVar Burton’s character in this movie, and any other movie, and tv shows etc are excellent. I particularly like him working on Reading Rainbow. He well with children. He’s a very dedicated man.
ОтветитьI haven’t watched this since the first time it aired. Guess I can see in color too!
ОтветитьThis kuta kinta from the slave movie
Ответитьim a white guy but there are so menny brown brother i look up to.All from the60s to 90s
ОтветитьSome very lousy acting in this film.
ОтветитьDamn his boy ratted him out instantly, they were going with his story too lol 😅
ОтветитьWhat an inspiring story. Of a r@pist sex trafficker heroin addict thief. That escaped prison because he was good at a child’s game. Fitting levar burton would play the role.
ОтветитьGreat movie , saw a lot of great actors.
ОтветитьIt’s a bit difficult , but not impossible I suppose given the extraordinary nature of Mr. Leflore’s life , yet as I said somewhat shocking for me as someone who was nowhere near even being conceived at the time this movie was supposedly made , to learn that this apparently came out a full 6-7 years before the ‘84 World Series … of course I’m not even sure Leflore was a part of that team …
ОтветитьGood movie from an aesthetic perspective, but the man was a hoodlum.
Ответитьfind this movie and put up Don't Look Back: The Story of Leroy 'Satchel' Paige (1981)
ОтветитьMy Dad's cousin, also my dad made it to the NBA.
ОтветитьLevar Burton was very handsome! Great movie! Great music soundtrack!!
ОтветитьBreak out the Reading Rainbow theme
ОтветитьTo this day this still a great lifetime movie with meaning .
ОтветитьIronic he was so good at STEALING bases. Kinda cool . But they don’t give you that much time to eat in prison.
