ОтветитьLooks like to road to new batch plant will have to be rerouted around the substation extension.
ОтветитьNot so long ago, prior to Dogebag Musk rising, I was going to make my first EV purchase a Tesla. NOT ANY MORE! Anything but a Tesla; I would buy a Chinese EV before buying anything American. Boycott Tesla is a trending thing, don’t ya know.
ОтветитьStock going to continue down as more money is spent. Not lookin good
ОтветитьHave noticed over the last week or so there haven't been any castings in the storage area. Any reason for that?
ОтветитьThanks Joe, great progress this week in part of the site. Curious to see the development of this area over the next few months.
ОтветитьJoe, great work as always. Your aerial photos and overlays take me back many years to my 1st 2 jobs as an Airman. We did old school drafting and surveying (for CE) at Nellis AFB in 1986, and in 1988, when I arrived for a tour at Aviano, Italy we began preparing for large upgrade/expansion of the base. My job involved old-school drafting/surveying still, but we began using Intergraph MicroStation software and CAD plotters (large format) to produce topographic base maps and site development projects. Most computers then were still monochrome, but the Intergraph station was FULL COLOR!! I predicted then that one day (mostly dreaming out loud) engineers would be able do "visual fly-throughs" on their computers of (eventually) any place on earth, and that air bases would (or should) have 3D electronic versions of the bases which would have databases attached with all relevant systems (electric, water, drainage, buildings, communications, etc.). I had no idea how long it would take, and in some ways, it took less time than I expected, but here we are in the 2020s, mostly doing the kind of engineering I thought we one day would. I switched over from CE to Comms (Mustang) after a great 7 years as an enlisted guy--my years at Aviano ('88 - 92) just prior to it's major expansion/upgrades were my favorite assignment, both for work and off-duty reasons. Again, your work is superb, and much appreciated.
Ответить🤗 THANKS JOE FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK 😅💚💚💚
ОтветитьMy guess for the new buildings.... Building #1 will be Optimus Manufacturing which is closest to Robot Dr road.
Then Building #2 will be the next gen computer with a cooling tower in the back and two water tanks that supply the cooling water.
The Tesla website still show firstgen Ys available from $31,490.
!
Is there some already known plan for a lithium final finishing building ready here at Austin - taking what they get from Corpus Christi to be pulled to battery level ready ?
Ответитьyou know thats Rye grass not summer grass it always be green no matter how cold it is.
ОтветитьJoe, I am also thinking it would make a ideal location for the next computer room. Why 2 buildings? What if there is a "Problem" in one building? You have a second building for back up, say one floods with a broken sprinkler, or a real fire.
The third building would be the ideal size for a bunch of 1,000 HP water chillers for the cooling plant. Then the 5 million gallon tanks? That can be chilled water storage. It costs a lot to chill water, and during the peak power the cost can be 3 times as high as nighttime chiller use.
If the new computer room and chiller for it will use 200 MW for the chiller and 800 MW to run the computers, then installing them as close to the main electrical switchgear is important for less wiring length and less cost.
South Coast Plaza in California, they put in 4 each 450,000 gallon chilled water tanks in the bottom of their parking garage, and chill the water at night, using very low power rates. Then when the peak power time happens, they shut off all of the chillers, and only use the stored water. During the day, when it is mid-peak charges, they might run 1 chiller, and only run all of them at night with the lowest cost power.
Looking at the die shop chiller plant, I am kinda disappointed to see that all 4 fans are running today. It is only about 50F today (in February) and the heat of summer is not here. If the chiller plant was properly sized, then only about 1/4 to 1/2 of the plant would be running on such a cool day. What are their plans for summer? More rented chillers and a generator to run them like last summer? They really need to install 4 more cooling towers, and more water chillers under them. Maybe that is in their plans? Seems like I saw 4 more of the cooling towers this size in a remote location on Tesla property.
Looking at the new very large water tower, in the new extension of the plant, I only see 2 of the 6 fans running so far. It has been fairly cool in Texas. So on a hot day, with all 6 of them running they will have substantially more cooling capacity. Today, with temperatures below 45F, they can use the cooling towers to make chilled water at about 40F or 45F. This can run through the heat exchangers to chill the water used to cool the computer rooms. So they do not need to run the electric chillers until the water temperature is above 55F. And it might be a 60F day before that happens. Remember they have those huge water tanks to make it through the warmer afternoon, without needing to run the electric chillers at all.
It looks like a 1,000 ton cooling capacity chiller was installed in the main extension on a recent fly over. It was a green unit, about the size of a 40 foot long trailer.
I am still wondering why they no longer need to produce extra mega castings for the Cybertruck. Did they install another gigapress to make both castings, without the need to change the die, and store extra castings outside? That is my theory.
Total production numbers for the cybertruck. There is a theory proposed by some websites, that Tesla will somehow make more cybertrucks, adding about 50,000 capacity at a time, year after year. That is not possible, there are not any extra seconds in the hour or day or year. So if they can make 200,000 cybertrucks a year on 1 line, they would need to install a second line to make additional cybertrucks.
So if it takes 50 seconds to produce each truck, and they make about 65 per hour, then they can not just decide to start making 75 a hour, it just takes to long to install the seats, and they can not install them twice as fast. They still need to offer a meal break to the employees, and 10 or 15 minute break every couple of hours.
If they decide to produce twice as many cybertrucks, then it would require setting up a second line to build more of them. That would be a substantial cost to the company.
It would be interesting to see if both the Cybertruck and Model Y will end up going to the west side via the new tunnel. Maybe self driving, and that might be why they want to do this without driving the new cars on city roads.
I wonder if Tesla is updating the number of reservations that they have for the Cybertruck?
Another super computer system? Out of room with the one on the end of the building?
ОтветитьImagine a turbine like device in the river to speed up its flow and assist in drainage. Fastest flow and cut it deeper for improved flow. Or dredge it if one needs more silt and sand. How much further down is the bedrock?
ОтветитьWhen will Tesla or Elon build the fastest super computer in the world? Surprised Amazon or Microsoft doesn't have one.
Remember when guys would get big yachts or sailboats? Now let's see who's got the fastest computer. Generate massive crypto currency and cash it out!
Start a new coin. Set back a few billion and cash it out. Wealth creation and generation. Literally making money. Or figure out a way to make money using the Fort Knox gold.
They better build a high speed banked track so they can run 200+ mph easy and in a circle.
Ответитьjust a thought any idea if new construction could have to do with increased cell line production
ОтветитьCan wait to see a lot full of the new model Y’s! Hopefully next week!
ОтветитьI'm wondering if after the substation expansion, there will be two more megapack clusters? It would seem there is room next to the new one (and in front of the expanded substation).
ОтветитьLove it Joe! keep em comin
Ответитьcan you tell if the drivers in the cars going to outbound lot are actually driving the cars or serving as safety drivers?
ОтветитьI wonder if we will eventually see a further expansion of the mega pack in addition to the current expansion. It would not surprise me.
ОтветитьThe good old days, watching dirt move around.
ОтветитьThey'll need to put another cooling plant somewhere nearby.
ОтветитьWhy so many trolls in the comments?? 🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьGreat video, Joe!
ОтветитьA central 'Campus', kind of makes it sound like a university (about the only place I hear that word being used)
ОтветитьThanks Joe
ОтветитьQuestion: On the roof over the super computer, are those tesla solar shingles installed? They are gray in color and reflective
ОтветитьMerci👍👍👍
ОтветитьJoe, I have been following your channel on Giga Texas since the early days and so much appreciate what you've done. But sadly I'm going to have to unsubscribe. I can no longer in good conscience involve myself with a company whose president, Elon, has gone down the rabbit hole. Elon is hurting Tesla, hurting its original mission which I strongly support. I pray Elon will leave politics and do what he does best--run great companies or that the board will give Elon a pink slip. Tesla needs a CEO that comes to work each day, not one that's AWOL off damaging his company's reputation.
ОтветитьGreat Video Joe! Your editing and production skills just keep getting better!
ОтветитьI was asking the other day about whether or not Tesla was going to reuse the original windows that have been stored at the western storage yard. In today's video, I notice that they are still sitting there.
ОтветитьLove the info for those of us working here!
ОтветитьAmazing research! Thanks Joe !!
ОтветитьI finally made it to Austin with my Cybertruck from Washington on Sunday. Was cool to see in person from the highway but I still love your videos to see how the place is continuing to grow.
ОтветитьGreat work, Joe. When they did the mass grading of our college campus, the company took their time to retrieve the coke machine so they excavated around it. Like those power poles in that field, the coke machine was out there in the graded field, on top of a 20 foot tall pillar of dirt! I bet they had a hard time retrieving it later! 😂
I read something about the tesla EVs were gathering up in the storage lots. I hope you can get some shots of the railhead where they're transporting the EVs. Thanks.
BTW I thought it was unusual that there were about a dozen ads during the video. 😮
Joe I will not let the side issues bother me .your work is so informative and useful to me. I will continue to follow you as long as you keep up your postings. Thank you
