Where in this timeline is the time for research on the effects of 1/3 g Martian gravity on the human body? NASA has spent decades studying the effect of zero g on the human body and how to keep astronauts healthy in space. It sounds like he intends on just selling people tickets without resolving this issue. Why haven’t we “made it back “ to the moon yet

I do love all this but, if we only put that much money, time and brain power to solving all the issues of earth first then I would be really excited about going to Mars.

Elon Musk is the modern Christopher Columbus (by proxy via Optimus)... let's name those first 3-5 Starships and their robots accordingly...and have good follow-up names in case those don't make it. But will the robots declare independence in a few yrs?

I'm guessing the reason he's pushing launch cadence so fast so early is because they have surplus V2 that require reasonably minor alterations because v3 is so close to launch readiness that most of the fundamental alterations are going to be demonstrated there. So he's getting what value he can from v2s that are already built. In some ways V2 has already earned its keep.

I think as spectators we are expecting these big leaps from V2 when they've already put most of that know how into v3. In other words, why work hard on undoing V2 work when you can easily modify it to achieve short term testing goals and instead work hard on that third iteration where your collectively deploying most of the major improvements simultaneously?

Back to that principle of "if you know something isn't working delete it". Except that in the context of testing to failure V2 still has value in terms of data with what can be rapidly altered within it's fundamental layout.

So while the press print headlines about out of control vehicles, the major fix for that has already been manufactured at scale in the V3 spec and so on.

Meanwhile they're getting tonnes of data with every launch. Explains as well why they were prepared to knowingly waste a proven super heavy in the pursuit of the data of the more extreme angle of return and more extreme landing burn attempt. They've built in headroom to the testing regime that we haven't been aware of making the last few V2 platforms somewhat expendable. So long as they get the data.
