I enjoyed the lore dives on Godfrey, his style and his figth so much that i did a entire run of Elden ring playing as a direct sucessor of him. Strength and faith, using roars, bestial incantations and a big axe. Never healed during combat and fougth everything head on. The moment he got into his feral mode i swaped to my Caestus and fougth him hand to hand, it made his words at the end of the figth even more meaningful to me.

I personally think that Serosh was the ruler of Stormveil castle. We know he took Serosh when he became Marika's consort, but do we know if Godfrey has been to Stromveil castle before or after becoming the first elden lord ?
Idk, and I can't find anything, because I don't have the game. And my most powerful engine at home is my nintendo switch.

- Morgott and Mohg being public figures in the past surely isn't possible, since the former's name would be associated with that past and people would know the veiled monarch is an omen

- How can Godrick be a distant relation to Marika if he's her son?

- I'm pretty sure that there exists anninterview where Miyazaki describes both Godfrey and Radagon as lords of the Golden Order, which strongly implies that the Golden Order was put in place at the inception of Marika's age. It also makes a lot of sense when Destined Death is what's needed to fully incinerate the Erdtree.

It's such a tragic story. I really hope we see more of Godfrey in the movie

Just in time alongside the announcement of an actual Elden Ring movie. Amazing work as always. Godfrey always struck me as Fromsoft’s most mythologically heroic and influential characters out of every character in their respective universes. His obvious influence is King Arthur, but he’s also kind of like the Aegon the Conqueror of Elden Ring— a man, just a man, that set the trends and standards of pretty much every faction and tradition that would thereafter follow after his death/disappearance.

I dislike all these presumptions that Godfrey didn't know Marika's plan, as he might've been motivated by Marika's suffering as much as Trina was Miquella's

Hearing the musical score analysis for the fight was so powerful. That coupled with the final line made this a masterpiece. It's so hard to follow the threads of lore alone, so getting a chance to see/hear it play it chronologically is so cool!

The idea of Farum Azula connecting the mountaintop to Caelid is particularly interesting because, ignoring the land of shadow which may or may not have been in the middle, this would have made The Lands Between a ring while intact. And now it is a ring which has been shattered with Farum Azula blasted skyward.

Speaking of "A Song of Ice and Fire" Godfrey reminds me of Robert Baratheon in his prime. He would ally himself with his defeated enemies, too. The crowned stag sigil represents the wildness of the hunt. The house words of the Baratheons is "ours is the fury"

Some trivia that may or may not be relevant. In the Japanese text, the performers of lion dance are referred to as 勇人, a term completely different from our English equivalent of Sculpted Keeper. Though not an actual word in the Japanese lexicon, 勇人 literally translates to "courageous person," and is very close to the real word 勇者.

勇者 is what's translated as "Brave" in the cut variant of the Highland Attire, and later as "Champion" in the Nepheli Loux set (and as "Hero" in the starting class that equips it). Not to be confused with 英雄, the word translated as "Champion" and "Hero" in most other instances in the game, such as in descriptions of Radagon.

With all the hubbub about an elden ring movie, I think the obvious protagonist that the movie should be centered around is Godfrey. A window into his rise, gives us a window to marika’s as well. So much can be shown if the movie took that approach.

In norse mythology he is lost likely inspired by the god Tyr and the «berserkers» which wore wolf/bear pelts to war and most likely used some kind of mushroom to not feel pain

My theory is that Serosh was supposed to be the Vessel for Hoarah Loux's soul, making him a furious beast in whole as something embodied ideally by the hornedsent. But, the betrayal, could be that Serosh became the lord's soul and Hoarah Loux the vessel-- creating Godfrey. Making a mockery of the intended union and possibly tilted political power towards Marika than the hopeful hornedsent. Maybe she was supposed to be in a more subservient role as a god than how the lord is shown in game, being the sword of a god rather than the other way around.

Plus-- I wonder if Marika was the one chosen by a fingers, if at all. Maybe she is somebody who took the identity of the supposed empyrean?

You mention how he was named Horah Loux while still having Serosh as a companion in the Badlands. However, keep in mind the distinction between ‘Horah Loux CHIEFTAIN of the Badlands’ and ‘Horah Loux WARRIOR’. Likely his actual name is Horah Loux with Godfrey being more a title than a name to signify his lordliness. However, when he is ousted he retakes his old name but remains lordly as chieftain. At least to an extent. Only when fighting the tarnished does he consider he may need his fully unrestrained power.

I thought it looked like he killed serosh so he didnt intervene and he could kill you himself, and thats why he says "that will be all"

Godfrey sisters unite

I just caught a subtle rhyme in Godfrey’s story. His story began with him taking on a beast, and ended with him playing the part of a beast for a new rising warrior.

We all say that Marika only had 1 uncursed child, that being Godwyn. And what caused her to shatter the Elden Ring was her perfect golden boy being murdered. But I actually think that's wrong. She had 3.

I think one of the story pieces that was meant to be conveyed from SOTE, was that she actually had 3, and her bigotry was what lead her to abandon Mohg and Morgott. NOT that they were actually cursed in any way.
All her children with Radagon are cursed, because they're all vulnerable to different outer gods or aspects of the elden ring itself.
But her omen twins were just a different type of normal, that she chose to demonize and abandon.

Godfrey, having also come from the same time as Marika, didn't have the same bigotry towards the hornsent that she did due to her being a Shaman.
When he's cradling Morgotts body, he's lamenting the fact he didn't protect his kids from her.

He's probably the only king/great warrior archetype in Miyazaki's games that didn't end up decrepit or a shell of their former self, a.k.a Allant, Gwyn, Vendrick

I will always love the fact that Godfrey is one of the very few bosses who doesn’t combine with something or take something on to become more powerful. Malenia becomes the goddess or rot, depending on its strength to beat you. Godrick grafts the dragon to his arm. Renalla channels the moon. Mesmer has the abyssal serpent, Maliketh draws the rune of death.

But Godfrey? He removes Serosh, rips him off of himself. Because his strength is wholly his own. He had to combine with someone to be reigned in and contained. He needs no extra strength from outside sources, he needed the strength he locked away.
