Flight to nowhere?
ОтветитьThis is well worth the watch! Saved to a playlist: Thank You!
ОтветитьBert Earnest and Harry Farrier were the only survivors of the six TBFs in VT-8 George Gay was the only other survivor of the squadron flying in devastators from the carriers
ОтветитьI was on Midway Island in 1960. I stayed in WW2 barracks that had steel I beam skeletons. I could look up at the I beams and see where the armor piercing bullets had passed through the I beams during the bombing and strafing when the Japanese attempted to invasde Midway Island.
ОтветитьWrong information right from the start. The Japanese fleet was North if O'ahu not South on Dec. 7
ОтветитьExcellent!😊
ОтветитьFortune favors the bold!
ОтветитьGreetings: Great job on this presentation. RIP Ernest. Thx 4 the share.
ОтветитьFull of inaccurate statements. Example - Minute 20 Halsey was in the hospital so the orders did not go out to Fletcher and Halsey, they went out to Fletcher and Spruance.
ОтветитьThe Musak track is distracting.
ОтветитьYou sure butchered what could have been a great video. SMH.
Ответить😮😮
ОтветитьAt Charles Eliot Jr. High in Altadena, Calif, my math teacher, Arthur Benedict, (as an Annapolis cadet studied in Japan in the 1930s and was fluent in Japanese) would tell us stories from his work in Naval Intelligence in WWII. He mentioned he was involved in decoding enemy communications before the Battle of Midway.
ОтветитьForgive this amatuer for being picky, but the Kido Butai assembled NORTH, not South, of Hawaii on 12/7/.41!
Your narration is in error!
The trick bag the Japanese let themselves get hung up on ? when they took the bate of the water problem at midway island? U woulda thought they woulda been smarter than that . They defeated themselves with their own gullibility.
ОтветитьA combination of great courage, skill, intelligence and good fortune.
Ответитьhome of the gonney birds, they rule the island
the islands the best lagoon nice sandal bar
The ships traveled 3,500 miles to a launch sector 230 miles -"NORTH" - of Oahu, Hawaii, maintaining radio silence. (True history)
ОтветитьThese courageous men , it is amazing to hear what they had to say . My Dad was on the Ranger , my Uncle on the Yorktown . my Dad made it home , my Uncle did not . Have to cry for all those injured , traumatized and killed ...
ОтветитьAll the videos to going forward need to be ad free
ОтветитьHow did America defeat the Japanese??? America dropped two, brand new technology bombs on Japan...known as Atomic bombs. America thought that Japan would surrender after the first Atomic bomb...Japan refused to surrender thereby forcing America to drop the second Atomic bomb. Both bombs were exploded in the Northeastern part of Japan. In the 1980's I got to shake the hand of the man that dropped both Atomic bombs.
ОтветитьThere was probably red headed giants there 😅😂😅
ОтветитьTop secret people, so don't tell anyone OK, 😉, America lost ww2 but was told we won it and believed it
ОтветитьThe American elites know all about Pearl Harbor way before it happened, placing their enemy's the good solders in harms way,
ОтветитьShokaku was out for year and Zuikaku had no air group. This is the battle that showed the aircraft and pilots were not the weapons delivery system. They were the ammunition and the carrier was the weapon system.
ОтветитьThe battle does need to be remembered ... this documentary is horrible. Get this off You tube. Maybe flip fries .. find another line of work.
ОтветитьI could have sworn that mermaid man was narrating this
ОтветитьThe title of this epesode is the true story of the battle of midway which suggests that previous account are half true or not true at all that's why the title is the true story of the battle of midway.
ОтветитьMidway was the turning point of the Pacific. THe carriers USS Yorktown and the Akagi and Kaga have been found. Yet, the Soryu, Hiryu, the cruiser Mikuma and the destroyer USS Hammann are yet to be discovered.
God rest all the fallen sailors, marines and aviators of the US Navy and the Imperial Japanese Navy.
I know, I'm picky! The Japanese were heading for a point 230 miles NORTH of Oahu. Two hundred thirty south would have been near the big island Hawaii.
ОтветитьMidway did NOT have Avengers. They were not developed yet. They had obcelesent Vindicators, the Navy had Devestators for torpedo bombers.
ОтветитьHalsey was in the Hospital during Midway
ОтветитьI get a kick out of the thumbnail showing an f6f hellcat.which wasn't operational till 1943 at wake island.😅
Ответитьnarrator sounds like Ernest Borgnine
ОтветитьIs the narrator Ernest Borgnine?
ОтветитьNoticed error in narrative at beginning regarding the Pearl Harbor attack, it was launched from the north not the south of Oahu!
ОтветитьWe knew they were coming. We got in the first shot. Our torpedo bombers drew all the CAP down to the water. The Dive Bombers had a free shot and they made it count. and that is how it happened
ОтветитьFleet Admiral Chester Nimitz was good, decent man. And his skillset as a master naval tactician and excellent decision maker is one of the reasons why the Americans won the Great Pacific War
ОтветитьIf they knew the attack, why not put some like 500 fighters in the island to greet the japs
ОтветитьMidway the Atoll near the north TIP of the HAWAIIAN ISLANDS...
ОтветитьExcellent
I'm 90 and can still remember the jubilation when we heard about this victory...
If you want the story of the Battle of Midway, read "Shattered Sword".
ОтветитьCut the stupid music when people speak… It really spoils the video !!! Had to stop viewing. Really a pity.
ОтветитьOMG ! Your pronunciation of the Japanese ships SUCKS !!!
ОтветитьIn many ways, the first kamikaze pilots in WWII were the American torpedo bombers at Midway. They had little hope of coming back from their missions.
ОтветитьDuty, Honor, and Country! The greatest generation EVER!!!!
