Thank you. Somehow I got widgets on the homescreen and can't get into anything on the homescreen - can't get into settings. Got into YT through slide down notification bar.

Mine doesn't say 'add media page to home screen' when I click on settings. (Huawei)

For Realme users, try
-long press "Google"
-then "App Info"
-then "Disable"

Check your homescreen if it works coz it works on me, if you what to enable the Google App again just follow the same steps

In some Redmi devices it's called the app vault. Just disable it

Mine is Redmi note 9 pro:
-> Settings
-> Home screen
-> There is an option called "-1 screen".
-> In the -1 screen there are 3 options
App vault, Google discover & None.
-> Select None.
