Board Game Breakfast 519 - It's a Kind of Magic

I love the Final Fantasy series and am now really considering getting into the Magic set for it even though I haven't touched Magic in over 20 years.... However, FFVIII is actually my favorite in the franchise. If they did a commander deck for that in another wave, I'd definitely get into it. And while they have the FF license, they should also release Triple Triad; they could even put foil versions in the FF Magic booster packs. My wallet would be dead.

I used to love MTG, and we're talking back in the 4th edition era, for a couple of years after that, but I am so dissociated from it now. I have never played any of the Elseworlds sets but I like the idea. I used to say all the time that it would be cool if they did a Marvel game or a sci fi game (or whatever) using the same MTG system, which is essentially what Elseworlds is.

They do not call them Elseworlds. That is a DC Comics term. They call them Universes Beyond.

Dragon Keepers is a fun game

I played crazy eights with house rules that blended it with Big Two as a kid and I thought that was fun. I’ve played Uno but it’s not fun or interesting to me.

For interesting metal bands, have you heard of BloodHag? They were a 90s to 2000s metal band that were certified as a literacy program by the King County (Seattle) Libraries. Did an entire album about mostly sci fi authors.
