Supporting Military Families as a Tool to Strengthen Veteran Wellness

This presentation will discuss the dynamics and challenges faced by military families. Workshop will explore areas of engagement for families of service members and veterans, as well as effective resource navigation and referrals. Panel discussion will provide an overview from the perspectives of veteran siblings, parents, spouses, as well as veterans. Topic will cover impact on families due to relocation, mental health, disruptions in dynamics, and strain from deployment. Families will discuss complications related to loss, divorce, and after-effects of medical or mental health diagnoses. Stress factors that specifically affect families will be discussed, as well as screening and intervention practices that can support and assist families.
