Lore-wise I’d have to go with something from Bloodborne. The subject matter in that game exceeds the small nature of the other self contained games, ascending even above the bits of cosmic lore in Elden Ring. Bloodborne Great Ones look down on everything else.

I don’t think any of these picks could beat any of the others. Most of their hands are too big for the controller

The strongest beast in all of the from software games it would have to be the A tie between Shark man killer in The fishing Village in bloodborne and Orphan of Kos

Why would Maliketh count as a beast? He may not be human, but he’s obviously very intelligent and talks to us, he has a whole quest line even

Manus is strongest beast but I hated that boss so bad I legit just cheese him by shooting black bow and using the ring to increase your range to kill him. How I always dealt with him when found it out online. Also the bed of chaos really is a awful boss, probably why I don't return to playing dark souls 1 sadly.

Alot of non-boss beasts could stand a chance against the boss ones tbh. Like the rune bears or the shark guys

I would argue for seperating "eldritch" category as it's own. This would exclude about half of Bloodbourne bosses though.

I don’t think that the great ones are weak combat wise. I mean the moon presence almost one shots you, the only thing that saves you is that you’ve almost become a great one. We also don’t know if their bodies have any meaning to them, as for example amygdala seems to carelessly damage itself, which doesn’t even grant it any advantage.

Also there would Oedon who would be probably invincible, as he doesn’t even have a body. Honestly the strength of great ones isn’t really measurable. Sure their projectile attacks don’t look that awesome, but that could be due to hardware limitations.

Also we have to remember that Bloodborne is the first modern soulsborne game. I don’t think they were already thinking about crazy combos and massive AOEs, when the game they made prior to this was Dark Souls 1. The first real signs of that were in the DLC.

But honestly, judging by their careless behaviour and something like the the Moon Presence’s one shot attack, as well as Oedon not having a body, the Great Ones are just like the Outer Gods. The only difference between those two is, that Great Ones can in fact interact with the world outside of the cosmos.

In bloodborne apparently "all beasts were once human" so I think for that game anything that's a furry boi with claws amd a passion to kill the good hunter. My vote is for the shark boys

Maliketh wins imo. I think he's as fast as orphan and has wider attacks. And then you have destined death on top of that, which depending on how you scale it lore wise is incredibly strong and should be able to grant death to all things. And basically every enemy in elden ring base game is being fought out of their prime imo.

I am not intended to comment this but that Old Iron King fight was absolutely horrible. Was that your first ever attempt. Oh my god.
And that Maliketh fight at the end. Are you playing on old patch? Flame of redmmane was nerfed long ago and no longer deal that much stance damage and you just staggered him in 2 usage (and if you also count the charge heavy with the Giza Wheel then you are having like 60 stance on current patch)
That aside, Elden Beast should be the strongest. It is the literal concept of order of the world - the elden ring. Elden Ring command the star and fate. Some of elden beast move also conjure nebular or explosion of the cosmic. And in order to defeat the elden beast we need first to release destined death back to the land between, then using a god slaying weapon. The game literally build up for us to be able to defeat the god and create the new order

Damn I never thought of the fact that all of the great ones lose a child but thr orphan is the opposite where the orphan has lost his mother…..that’s a really cool observation maybe im just dumb not to have thought of that but idk that’s just really cool

I also think the orphan is incredibly strong in the sense that the beasts are incredibly strong combat wise and the only thing that hunts and kills even the biggest and strongest beasts are the moon scented hunters and the fact that the orphan is the spawn of potentially the strongest old one and it’s an amalgamation of kos and a hunter makes the orphan and incredibly strong beast mimicking the strongest of human forms

Elden Beast?

Manus created the abyss which pretty much permanently screwed up the dark souls universe. I don’t think any one of the other entries here have done something of that level yet besides maybe Elden beast (except it didn’t destroy anything more like control)

As the self elected Demon’s Souls commenter. Stronger “beast” from that game I agree is The Old One given it is referenced in the Talisman of Beasts.

If not The Old One I might lean Dragon God because the player cannot defeat it with their own power and need to use the ballista whereas range builds can kill The Storm King

As for the Old One vs Elden Beast. The Elden Beast is the concept of order. The Old One destroys the subjective reality of the world and exists devoid of all concepts. Not sure who wins but I don’t think it’s a free victory for EB

I think manus is only slow because of how movement is depicted in dark souls. Manus really isnt slow and has very quick movement most likely.

The strongest being in FROMSoftware history definitely has to be the Old One from Demon's Souls. With Elden Ring, you can challenge the outer gods as showcased with Ranni, Miquella, and even Shabriri if you just want to annihilate everything. Then you have the cosmic beings from Bloodborne which are arguably stronger than the outer gods due to being more direct and having a stronger prescense with the world, but you can ascend to their level. With the Old One, your only options are to lull it back to slumber or become a slave to its will. It's seemingly impossible to slay it since the idea to do so is never brought up in lore and any attempt to control it just results in degredation as we've seen with King Allant.

Edit: I would also add another reason the old ones are stronger than the outer gods is just from being seemingly incomprehensible to the average human. The idea of them is too much for any one normal person to handle which results in total insanity.

Trolls in elden ring have human level intelligence and they make that clear. Some even know magic. Some have sworn themselves to others. They’re intelligent, not beasts.

I belive Darklurker is a remnant of The Four Kings. Deep down in the Dark. Behind a covenant. Splits into more Darklurkers. Wings, Dark Magic, humanoid.
