The Most Disappointing Books of 2020

I read The Cruel Prince awhile ago, and I would have a vastly different opinion now, especially about the romance. It's funny how toxic relationships become so much more apparent later in life. I don't think I could root for the romance in that series. I'm glad I read it when I did, but I don't have plans to ever reread it. I never finished the Throne of Glass series, and my tastes have changed so much since I read it that I don't think I would like it now. (I can see why so many people love this though!) I have plans to read Malice by March so we'll see how that goes. I'm also looking forward to getting to Fire of Vengeance at some point this year.

Hmmm, I think I will probably skip Cruel Prince! I didn’t realize you read Throne of Glass this year, I basically feel the same exact way you do haha! “Everyone annoyed me” lol yup. Oh man, Damsel doesn’t sound good to me either. Haha, you’re the only person I’ve seen not completely rave about Malice. I’ve been seeing several split opinions on Rage of Dragons, I cannot decide if I should read it or not!

The beginning of Malice was slow for me too.

Hahaa I knew the Cruel Prince would be on here. The Rage of Dragons is one that is sooo divisive. I dont know if Ill ever pick it up.

Although I completely agree with your criticisms, I am guilty of loving the Folk of the Air trilogy. 🙈 Holly Black's writing style is not my favorite, but I had fun with the characters and scheming in a twisted but not overly dark setting! 😅

I'm so nervous I will feel the same way as you about Malice. I feel like 200 pages is a high page count to feel invested in a story.

Oh nooooo, I've had John Gwynne on my TBR for a while and now I'm afraid lol. Also it's such a shame that so many of those books that weren't good had such nice covers lol. Seems deceitful somehow haha

I have never heard of Damsel before and will now be staying clear of it. It truly sounds awful. Throne of Glass isn't worth the time investment in my opinion, it's just a mediocre series overall.

I've been on the fence about reading The Cruel Prince. I keep hearing mixed things. I've read Valiant by her but its been years.

I hated Malice and people still talk to me 😂

The ending of Horrid is bad 😂. I think it needed more of a resolution lol.

I love watching these! A lot of these are on my TBR and it just makes me even more curious as to where I'll fall on them!

Haven't read Throne of Glass. But now I'm curious. Oh no Malice, I haven't read it yet. I wonder it it will be the same for me. Totally hate when consequences don't stick.

I kinda felt the same way with Throne of Glass but I’m going to give a shot at the series! I own all the books so why not! If I don’t like it it’s going to be good content so hahah 😂
