I’ll admit that, until today, all I knew about Chinnor was its vintage railway because of announcements that played at Princes Risbourough train station (the other end of the vintage railway) whenever I waited there for a rail transfer from the Aylesbury line to the main line.

Actually external "bolt-on" tower stairs are not uncommon. As a visitor bellringer one often looked for them.

Very impressed by how close you got a drone to the Diamond Synchrotron building without being bundled into the back of a van by a group of black-clad security forces. People have had teams descend on them them just walking through the nearby fields 😳😬😆

I've lived in Thame or around it for over 30 yrs, the bridge is also the site of an accident where an arms truck crashed into the river. There are still bullets and grenades found by magnet fisher's to this day. Lovely too watch. Xx

Interesting to see the old map of Didcot. Around the Easton’s Plantation was the site of the Didcot A coal fired power station, along with the newer Didcot B gas fired one. Didcot A was visible from a long way. In the early 2000s I remember going to a public open day in the old one.

I'm sure Auto Shenanigans has stalking me the last few weeks. :-) He did a Greenham Common Video and I had one ready in the can for editing that you can see. I did a Harwell Diamond Light Source video (I get to look inside the building) now he has gone there. I go to Wallingford and he goes there. ( two videos including a car show, a castle and Jethro Tull's house, not the prog rock band) I have a Watlington video in the can ready to edit. (Including J R R Tolkien's daughter's grave that he is yards from)

I once spent a night in Didcot. On a bench, at the railway station. I used to meet my girlfriend in Oxford (she lived in Aylesbury and I in Bristol), and after kissing her goodnight and getting on the rail replacement bus to Didcot, the bus promptly drove straight into the side of a taxi. Another bus was arranged, but this took time, so by the time we got to Didcot, there was only a few minutes until the last train to Bristol (which I was the only passenger for). Not realising the urgency of the moment, I was being chivalrous and letting others off the bus first, and stepped on to the platform to see the tail lights of the last train vanish down the line. Great Western staff were less than interested and essentially said it was my fault (despite the bus issue). So I had to sit for 4hrs or so, in the dark waiting on the first train west. I haven’t set foot in Didcot since (I broke up with the GF not long after, for unrelated reasons).

Towards the end of the 18th Century, Wantage became known as ‘Black Wantage’. This was the result of the town becoming a hang-out for criminals and other undesirables from London. Why this happened may have had something to do with Wantage having the reputation for highest number of public houses per capita, a crown it later gave up to nearby Abingdon.
Back in the late 60s, someone thought it would be a wizard wheeze to daub Alfred’s statue with pink paint, the statue staying that was for many years, the paint slowly fading.

Jon, far be it for me to criticise or amend your marvelous videos!
I believe Watlington is and has been for sometime the smallest town in England and
Chinnor is a village.
I realise chinnor is quite a bit bigger these days.
