India with Hindhu philocophy developed over several thousand years stands as an example of a country in history and in 21st century as the country which has all the religions living within its borders, including Jewish, Muslim, Bahai, Sikh, Christiranity, Bhuddist and many others. It is the only country today with the largest number of other religions. India's contitution of 1950 guarantees human rights. Such a sad picture it was, seeing the devil beside the Cyrus cylinder. Rulers who take the old Persian history out of books, trying to suppress humans. In current Iran, if you change your religion from Islam to anything else, the punishment would be death by Sharia.

Thank you for such representation. However, it is good to mention that we don't have thousands of Jews in Iran. Most of them were killed or ran to Israel or other countries when the revolution in 1979 happened. Some Christians living there, but they can't get jobs in public sectors, or sometimes even can't go to university. Zozorastrians also live but recently their representative in parliament was disqualified only because he was not Muslim. SOOOOOO, TED talk, I would suggest you carefully check what information you provide. Not to mention that this cylinder would be safer if it would only be kept in the British museum (even though Iranians hate Queen and what the British government did to us), because this fucked up regime in Iran is not concerned about Iranian heritage and history that has nothing to do with fucked up Islam.

There is a bit of unfairness in this. Ancient Iraq civilization from Sumerians to Assyrians is much more greater than Ancient Iran. Actually the Assyrian civilization The Greatest of all, was stolen by Ancient Iranians. Nabu-Kith-Nassar's ancestors are unknown but some scholars believe they are from ancient Iranians, that is why the Babylonians did not fight Cyrus.

I like Niel Macgregor ( previous director of the British Museum) , his passion for archaeology and most importantly for the hidden truth and facts but;
I lived in Iran when Iraq attacked the country and I don't remember that the Cylinder was ever used as propaganda for defeating Iraq's intrusion. I don't know where Niel has got this idea from. Another thing which is often forgotten is the importance of Zoroastrianism and fundamentals of their beliefs which shaped Cyrus and the Cylinder thousands of years ago!

As an Iranian in 2024, this was such a amazing TedTalk to listen to. So much history is made from when this cylinder was first made. So many great countries and political leaders have been shaped by Cyrus’s legacy. And yet, the head of the British Museum doesn’t know what is going on in Iran. He presents the Islamic regime in Iran as a tolerant superpower that wants to free the oppressed while it’s the exact opposite. Iran was the nation of growth and prosperity for minorities before the Islamic Revolution. This regime tried its best to marginalize minorities and spread its ideology between Iranian people, from not allowing a single tv or radio station to be broadcasted from anywhere other than their own state controlled media to changing all the school books and injecting the ideology even into science and math textbooks. But it was the Iranian people who hold these values in their identity who fought back and never allowed this to happen. A fight against a tyrannical regime without the support of even the most knowledgeable people outside of Iran as you can see. We are close to getting our country back and events like this, will show the world what has happened to Iranian people and how mistaken and lost the west is about what is happening in the Middle East. At least that’s what I hope it is and not a paid commercial by the Islamic regime in Iran right after the green movement in 2009 when people of Iran showed the world the true nature of this 1000-faced theocratic regime.
