Look how clunky logging is when you are using a hand mic. I got myself a headset with a PTT foot switch to keep my hands free to write down calls faster.
ОтветитьHow do you go down when you are doing split operation? You shown going up but not down.
ОтветитьI didn't know that...!!!!!
Ответитьcan i run a mfj 464 cw keyer on the 891?.
ОтветитьThanks Michael! I’ll definitely use these tips on my mobile FT-891!
ОтветитьHi Michael, I have just bought an 891, your videos have been a great help in understanding some of the features of the radio, and great easy-to-understand content. I have a question I noticed in this video you are using what looks like an Eco-Worthy lithium battery what are your thoughts on this battery and roughly what life do you get out of it on a POTA activation? As I am still trying to decide which route to go for a battery. 73 VA7EEH

ОтветитьJust got a new FT-891 last month, watching this video I instantly turned on the peak hold option! Didn't know it was there but a handy setting indeed!
ОтветитьHey Michael, thanks for the nice video. Do you know something about the min. voltage you need for this radio. I just heard it would not go down to 10V like the older FT-857D does. I'm asking because i would like to use it at a 12V Batterie, which we all know well goes sometimes down to 10V ...

This is a very helpful video. I just hooked up my new 891 a few hours ago, and this is so helpful. The menu seemed pretty complicated, but after watching this, I see that it's fairly simple.
Thank you,
Karl
Nice!! Thank you.
ОтветитьI ordered one and it arrives Monday, I cannot wait 73.
ОтветитьExcelente!!!!
ОтветитьI trust your opinions, so I have a question. I am currently running a TS-480 as a mobile rig and it performs really well. I have been considering a trade however to the FT-891, mainly due to size considerations and being able to use it on trips and in the field. Might even replace my G-90 with it as well. Do you think I would be satisfied with it as a mobile? I mainly operate mobile with monoband sticks, and in the ssb frequencies, so lack of a tuner is not a huge factor in mobile. Might be more of a factor for portable, but I do have some tuner options, if needed. What are your thoughts?
Ответитьnice bike!
ОтветитьThis is a fantastic FT891 video. I used to have you 91, traded away for another radio, and I'm thinking of getting it back again. this video reminds me of how much the it can actually do de WO8USA🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
ОтветитьConstant display of supply power voltage instead of just on startup would be very helpful.
ОтветитьI wonder if we could do with the Ft-857d too? Thanks for sharing this.

Thx, I've learned a lot from your vid, lil Dude. 😎
ОтветитьWhere did you pick up the mic extension cable on your 891? You buy the separation cable and just shorten it?
ОтветитьVery good clear Ty 👍
ОтветитьHam radio is boring. People asking for CQ. Then thats really it.
ОтветитьI’m visually impaired, is it possible to project the 891’s screen onto a PC monitor?
ОтветитьI've owned this radio for two years. I had no idea that split could be this easy. I've ignored split and told people, I love the radio, but its split is a pain. I just tried it. Thank you. Great video.
ОтветитьCool channel.
ОтветитьI do this on ftdx1200 on the Cs key
ОтветитьIdd should be drain current on the finals of the PA.
ОтветитьAt 11;59 the woman was weaving cloth by hand
ОтветитьDid you make or buy the microphone extension cord?
Ответитьthank you just bought on of these, im mainly an icom guy.. the menus are pretty deep on this radio
ОтветитьYaesu (and LDG) need to give you free stuff. I bought the FT-891 and ZII just because of all of your helpful videos.
ОтветитьWhat about power draw for field use?
ОтветитьI have an FT-710 in my shack. I would just unhook it if it wasn't such a PITA to unhook everything every time I want to go portable (or try POTA). But after watching your vid, I might just get me an FT-891 and be done with it. You've given me food for thought. I WAS planning to buy a second 710 but now I may not.
Added on 7-9-24. Bought the 891 two days ago. Watching your videos is helping me understand how to work this unit. Thanks.
I'm going from a pretty good Xeigu G90 to an FT-891 because of some of the better signal processing and better filtering. Hope it's as good as I imagine.
ОтветитьThanks for great video michael, been looking for another radio for pota as my ftdx10 is heavy in a case.891 now ordered :) 73
ОтветитьKK7SWB- New Ham-thank you Michael question unrelated but curious about something- i see 1/9 and 9/1 language for balun ads. are these the same and it doesnt matter how it is written?
Just like all GSM telephone's charging equipment Have been standardised, all amateur hf radio's tuner connectors should be standardised. Should an amateur to buy new tuner for a new Hf radio??
ОтветитьThis was very helpful, thank you.
ОтветитьPicking mine up Thursday! Huge help! Thanks
ОтветитьGreat info 👍👍
ОтветитьHey Michael... thanks for this video. I've come back to listen to it a few times as I forget some of the tricks you teach in it. 73 from Mason City, IA KK0DJ
ОтветитьHi Michael. Thanks for another amazingly good video. I have an FT-891 too, and it is an amazingly good radio. I cannot fault it in any way. It has so many of the facilities of a full size desktop radio, in such a small package. What pleases me every time, is the fantastic audio quality. I do use an external, dynamic hand mic (similar to the famous Shure SM58) and a good quality external loudspeaker. The results are amazing. I generally get unsolicited good audio reports and the received audio is a joy. It really is worth taking time to set up the mic equalisation using Yaesu's very comprehensive Parametric Equaliser settings for use with, and without the processor enabled. The FT-891 is brilliant. Thanks again for a great video. 73 Mike M0MTJ
ОтветитьSo I bought my second Yaesu FT-891. I use one for off grid Field Day and POTA. I have only done one POTA and two field days with the 891 but I wanted to learn the radio better so I bought another to use in my Ham Shack. After 3 days with the 891 in the shack, and re-watching your initial 891 setup video and this awesome video, I am very happy I have a second 891 . Running 100 watts on a G5RV JR 21 feet at center point, with an MFJ manual tuner and an MFJ 1:1 balun at end of ladder line and it’s all grounded and working like a champ. I learned more about the 891 from these two videos than I could have figured out in weeks. Thank you again for these 891 videos, you make this hobby even better. KI5DAY
ОтветитьGreat video and instruction.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and insight.
73! 👍
Many thanks, great video!
ОтветитьIn the band select there is a GEN mode. No idea what that's for.
ОтветитьI love this radio. If Yaesu ever discontinues this radio they better have something better in the wings. My suggestion would be to keep the main unit the same but design a color touch display the size of a FTM 400 or larger.
ОтветитьI really like the video; it's easy for me to follow. Got my FT-891 about 4 years ago and just started using it the end of September 2024, life got in the way.
I'm now subscribed and I'll be checking out more of your videos looking for tips and tricks. Thanks!
