You should put your monkey enclosure as the focal point of that path for your exotique animal, it would draw people in to see the structure at the end of the path, instead of on the side
Ответитьas someone that lives in Australia, your Jacaranda pronunciation is perfect...
ОтветитьI don't mind the parking but I think that the zoo and the city would plant some trees, put more electric car chargers, making it more "ecological". But maybe that's just European thinking
ОтветитьI always enjoy putting the aquarium and botanical garden near the zoo. I feel like there is synergy between those themes and many zoos also have aquariums.
ОтветитьThought I'd give you some encouragement by saying that you've actually been pronouncing Jacaranda correctly
ОтветитьName the new neighborhood "Giraffe's Neck" as an homage to the zoo and a play on the length of that one road!
ОтветитьI've never added these sorts of large parks or zoos or anything to my builds, but even with no experience, it's so clear that you've learnt much since the first zoo, and this redevelopment looks so much better! Not the height of realism, according to some zoo employees in the comments, but definitely a local maximum of realism XD
ОтветитьI've noticed a few spots where you've created square path "loops" in the zoo and university. Perfect spot for the square flower beds in the city park assets. The path in front of the main entrance gift shop is the example I saw in the zoo. I know that this is a video late but in front of the university library, you made a little square spot (to force the DLC's to work together) that's begging for a small flower bed.
ОтветитьThe rocks interfere with the bridge supports (and heights, a little,) but not with empty space under a bridge. Just like placing paths under a bridge, if you get a small enough rock, you can fit it.
Ответитьdos this is vanilla ? alot of mods ? thx for your conten, leran so much but i only play vanilla
ОтветитьI've done enough detail and feature work for theme parks IRL that it's turned me into a zoo person. Most zoos keep that stuff to a minimum and opt for nice landscaping instead. I appreciate how you've reworked your zoo. If I had any suggestions it'd be to stick your lions & elephants in the back of your Africa loop, this forces foot traffic all the way through the loop to see the big draw animals, then maybe widen and wind the section loops more. People who do more walking also do more buying of soda and food.
ОтветитьI think having a path connecting the non-road end of the zoo parking lot to the road would be a good idea (might encourage them to use it)
ОтветитьWhy is the Zoo so massive? Why not divide the space up between the zoo and something else?
ОтветитьZoo paths should be sloped reasonably... Well I just visited the San Diego Zoo and that's not how it works all the time.
ОтветитьI tried placing roads thru the zoo with landmarks and people just started visiting my zoo for free. Lol
ОтветитьI really love the redevelopment episodes. They are a great way to see the nearly infinite ways you can use a space.
Given the age of the zoo, and the redevelopment, I suspect the zoo would do some major rebranding and "family" would be dropped from the name. "Come visit brand new Sterling Zoo!"
Is anyone else really confused by that subway that appears to be a station with no entrance?
Ответить11min30sec get your wins when you get them!! Go CPPhilip!!!!!
ОтветитьHey, my feedback here.
Whether it's usual in the US, the world, or not, the parking in the zoo seems excessive. You could orient city planning as a whole to be pedestrians oriented. If needed, by the zoo, add a metro, bus, cable car, or even train and monorail, to get peeps to the zoo. Get them to like your vision of the future, in terms of sustainability and future proof city planning.
My zoo in Sydney has a cable car going over the top to see the animals
ОтветитьFrom the bison to reptile enclosure, you go up a hill to go down. since the lake doesn't come up that high anymore, you could almost make that path flat.
ОтветитьIt would be nice to have a park area on the water with picnic tables etc. When we were young we'd pack our own lunch when we'd go to the zoo.
Ответитьi have to say the proximity of the natural sciences-focused campus with the forest preserve and the zoo just makes so much sense. you can imagine the extensive bureaucracy that takes place every time the campus wants to build a new building or renovate. same with the zoo and bringing in non-native animals, and the forest preserve trying to hold onto every single square inch of land. the tug of war between them, the zoo, and the forest preserve must be mighty.
Ответить👍
ОтветитьGreat 👍 episode.
I know in vanilla it is difficult to add non DLC assets, if you could figure out a way, the bio dome, bird & bee haven and possibly the riding stables would be nice additions.
Totally over board suggestion, A small cable car network, they would link to the sections of the park and most importantly cross over the new lake.
I'm just thinking about a city in real life having a 200 year old zoo and just demolishing the whole thing to build a new zoo, you'd think the citizens might be a bit pissed off about that.
ОтветитьSo I'm only on episode 27 at the moment.... are there still fires? Did you get the 81 tiles mod? Have you obliterated the city once again? So many questions.
Also Phil, your voice sounds SO much different. New mic?
I donno, Lion's next to Bison makes a lot of sense. Makes it easier to feed them.
ОтветитьI think you should add some bike facilities around, or maybe even crossing some parts of the zoo. Since it is such a huge piece of land blocking people from moving on a more direct path (unless they pay for it), it would make sense to add some infrastructure to lessen that factor
ОтветитьWhere does the parking asset comes from? Is it vanilla?
ОтветитьLove to see older parts of the city come back to life! You have really improved your skills - the new zoo looks great!
ОтветитьI was thinking it would be nice if you got a ferry coming up the artificial River to the lake and then you could have an entrance there too. A bit like one of Disney World's entrances.
ОтветитьConsider making the small stretch of the zoo along the riverbank that doesn't actually have any zoo in it a regular park, and moving the zoo entrances to either end of that park. That way everyone downtown can enjoy some of the fruits of the renovation.
ОтветитьAll those trees and not one fire. Is this really Verde Beach? Hehehe...
ОтветитьGreat episode!
ОтветитьThis is actually one of the few builds in the series that I'm not a fan of. The zoo seems really unrealistic and is designed a bit too much like a road network. It's important to think about the way paths are used (as collectors vs. local paths), but I think it'd be helpful to look at a zoo, e.g., North Carolina Zoo or Amsterdam Zoo and really get a feel for the way zoos are realistically laid out. I think parking lot looks great and organization of enclosures look good (except antelope in wrong section). It may also be helpful to put the kids area near an animal exhibit (like a petting zoo?).
ОтветитьZoo enclosures usually have a pedestrian facing display and a logistics back end that connects to a series of logistic roads and corridors
ОтветитьThanks for the entertainment :)

Ответитьif you want to say "jacarandá" how we say it in spanish, you can say "há-káh-rán-dáh" (tip: stress every syllable. and tip 2: it's a very soft R)
ОтветитьThe only thing that isn’t realistic is the free parking. Put in a toll booth!
ОтветитьI thought the water looked better before the "polish"
Ответить🦒🌸
ОтветитьWhile it does look neat, personally, I don't like the idea of the keywalls around the river. Rivers and their banks are some of the most important habitats for both flora and fauna. It's also a place with high biodiversity. Concretifying the river is basically killing it. It's also kinda ugly in real life compared to real, alive riverbanks with bushes, trees and animals. I'd much prefer a green belt around the river.
ОтветитьI dunno maybe my tolerance for grades on Zoo paths is rather messed up; the Toronto Zoo has a rather infamous hill way in the back to access the Canadian Domain. It used to have a people-mover to get between the bottom & top, but that was shut down in 1994. There's several other fairly steep paths to get around.
ОтветитьI think you could learn a lot from the portland oregon zoo. they respected the topography. it was built on a mountain range, nothing like this would be even discussed. Yet they still found out how to have lions, tigers and bears in regional areas. still a fan, keep making verde beach
ОтветитьGreat episode.
