Never played the games - hehe so glad I didn't, and went in blind as a clicker - season one was incredible. Thrilled to continue the story in S2. Even MORE thrilled to come see you two react to each episode, hehe. Much love you guys 💕

I like how the events play out in this episode better than the game. The flashbacks in the game just breaks the flow of the story.

The Last of us pt 2 game and now show was just a flat out emasculation ritual. How do you make the first game so good and turn around and do that to Joel who was literally the face of the game

I see most of the reactors liking a lot Gail in this but I just can't. As a therapist she is terrible with her methods and this episode show how far from better Joel can get. I don't judge her by feeling terrible for her husband's death and having to confront his killer like that. But I don't find it funny or nice the way she treated her patient at all.

Yeah, he lied to her but is it all what we do in therapy in some point? Especially in the begining of the treatment and it's just the fifth session for Joel and she expects him to say it out loud something that is very bad that he did? Are they in the apocalypse or trapped in time? I felt terrible for Joel and every single reactor was aplauding Gail for saying all the wrong things to him while being all drunk!

Joel was right, she should be validating his feelings but she was just compromised with anger and grief. Its amazing how this show can depict a realism on the people's mental state considering life they're living now. For a therapist to keep working it's required some other professional to keep an eye on them too.

Her acting id awesome and even tho is messed up its really great and provocative. But not funny at all.

I just realized, the Joel parts of this episode serve the same narrative function that the 'walking through the house memorial' section of the game does. It humanizes Joel and shows how different he is from the broken killer of the first season.

I know theres been some upset over wat tommy said about, if it was him and joel its different.
He doesnt mean cuz their men.
He means cuz they have alot of experience AND work well as a team together.
Their experience is probly double ellie and dinas combined.
They survived from the outbreak.
Ellie and dina are little older than kids.

I've not played the game. When I do game, it's usually building or 4X. More casual stuff.

I do love that you are able to discuss what in the show is accurate to the game without spoiling anything.

It's embarrassing how...."cowardly" they made Joel in the second game and in the second season of the series. I'm not talking about the Therapy but Joel from the games would never cry, at least not in front of other people. He's an absolute hardened survivor, he's been doing it for 20 years. As for s1, he wouldn't just break down in front of his brother who he hasn't seen in who knows how many years? And btw, Eugene died from natural causes in the game. Ellie and Dina talked about it on their first patrol before the snowstorm locked them down.

I’m confused why they added the therapist instead of keeping the beginning of joel telling Tommy what happened, woulda made a lot of sense too as it’s been 2 years since last season so woulda been a clever way to recap for people too

I’ve beaten the first one. Never played the second one but I own it. I still BAWL during the opening cinematic cut.

In the council scene, Maria absolutely does not have a point. In what way is two teenaged girls going into an unchecked building just as reckless as two experienced and stronger men in Joel and Tommy doing it?
Also, if we're being real, in a post apocolyptic world where the human race's survival is dubious, fertile young women are a resource that can't be gambled with.

Without any spoilers, do we get to find out how each infected becomes the way it is (how one becomes a runner, a stalker, etc)? As someone who’s never played the games, I’m very curious about that.

Sorry guys I'm gonna say it, Bella Ramseys acting so far this season hasn't been the best. Season 1 she nailed but now the show has more emotion and heightened feelings, I REALLY feel like she's falling short. I see the memes online about visuals and couldn't care less, something feels off maybe ill notice on a rewatch

Kinda wish they hadn't put the Abbey scene at the beginning of the episode... Should of made the end of the episode her introduction, standing on that cliff edge and went for a bigger wow factor when you realise it's Joel they're looking for and why, for the non game players obviously 😂 just felt like a little too much hand holding, would of suited a later flashback better I reckon 🤷 still, strong start to the season 👍

I m not watching the show. I didn t like the second game for obvious reasons that I m sure you know since you also played both games. I must say up to now it follows very closely the game. Thanks for posting this

Good first episode, i dont like only one thing is the character Ellie, Dina and Abby looks to much yonger that how looks in the game and that is kinda a little weird to me but jesse is really good, the scene when joel was talking to eugene wife ( the terapist ) was amazing, i play the 2 games, hey that is the new falcon actor, if i not wrong the Dina actres was in Alien Romulus

I just wanted to answer your question about how many of us are watching without having played the game and I always owned an xbox system , so I've never been able to play since it's a PlayStation exclusive but yea so I was definitely shocked when I finished episode 2 but yea, love you guys, going to watch your reaction to episodde 2 now. = o !!

I absolutely love the pieces from the game and what they have added as extra story and filler. I also know all the drama about Ellie’s character but I really like her playing Ellie, I feel like she plays her really well personally! Also feel the same about Pedro Pascal, I feel like he couldn’t be more perfect for Joel, which is why episode 2 hit so so hard! 😭😭😭 Love their casting in general!

The dog being an employee of the month is in the game. You find a note that says the date my good boy won employee of the month is the combination to open the safe.

I really loved this first episode so much, seeing Ellie and Joel like that, always breaks my heart, also, as a player of the game, knowing what is gonna happen, is heartbreaking, so happy to see you guys react to this show again, this was an amazing reaction.

I was so happy when this season started; I'm getting to see my favorite characters again, getting to be back in Jackson. But, when Joel and Ellie's troubles started boiling to the surface, I got sad. Sad knowing what was coming, where it would lead, and how it was going to break my heart.

So happy you guys are watching this show! My favorite scene was watching Joel with the therapist, and when she asked what he did, you see that he wants to say, but in that moment, the protector switch flipped, shutting his emotions off. That was some brilliant acting by Pedro.

OK, I need help! Been looking forward to this for months...... just watched the 1st episode and found it almost unwatchable, why is Ellie so awful? Her character has close to zero redeeming qualities, I really enjoyed the first series, its not about the girl playing her, I like her also..... just seemed like really poor writing....that she would be so awful and toxic, yet people are caring for her so much....what am I missing?
