I was playing Football Manager a few years back, quitting the game if losing and saving after a win. Using this method, Ryan Yates managed to go with me from the Championship to World Footballer of the Year. Whilst not really realistic in one sense, it shows how much of an ability of self improvement that they had picked out in Ryan. Ryan is excellent at overcoming hurdles, like nobody else.

With the benefit of hindsight, the £30m we spent on Sangare should have gone on another No.9 - which is the only real gap in our squad right now. We all thought that Sangare was Yate's replacement - well right now, even if he was fit, he'd be on the bench. I will admit to being a Yates critic this past 5 years always questioning his abilities.....no longer. Stats don't lie - when he plays our points average goes up. Well done Ryan - the epitome of where hard work can get you.
