In the UK it's very hard to find cheap locks. The cheapest master lock 3 I can find on ebay is not far off of the RRP.

I just started learning lock picking. I lost my job and I'm looking for new skills to improve myself with. Knowing I'm naturally heavy handed when it comes to a lot of things. This is very difficult for me to adjust to. The practice lock i got with the set i can pick rather easily now. Nothing like the masters. But I struggle immensely on doorknob locks and deadbolts around the house. Like i learned here. I'm moving from lock to lock trying to figure things out and control my heavy handedness. Big struggle on my part. But the satisfaction of getting that pick after many failures is worth it. I hope to eventually make it to at least half LPL level. Just gotta stick with it.

LPL, what are the keywords you’re searching on eBay to find these locks? I am new to this hobby and looking to expand before falling into bad habits while remaining on a budget

How do you find locks at a bargain? Everything I am finding is 10-2% dollars plus shipping on eBay. Are there places we can go to and buy brand new cylinders and locks for cheap?

I have no idea where to get so many locks.
On ebay, I cannot find locks that run for less than 10€ each, even used. sigh.

I got my fng set and I am absolutely hooked. Also for a side note I have 3 kids, 6 yo, 10 yo and 13 yo. All three of them picked a master lock in seconds. 😒

Just like LPL if you want to train tubular locks, go into your tubular lock room in your lock house and pick a couple thousand to unlock while watching a movie

Picked open my first padlock today with my newly acquired Genesis kit after struggling with it for a few days. It was an Abus 65/30 and it was a tough nut to crack, lol.

So you guys settle in the couch before dialing up a movie on Apple + or Peacock. She has her basket of yarn and you have a box of locks and an import or maybe a glass of Pinot Noir. Nothing can replace the sound of that oh so satisfying "click" though.

So basically it's just like becoming a great lover of women! 😃

Unfortunately I think in the seven years since this video was made Locksport has become much more popular and it's becoming more and more difficult to find good deals on Ebay or anywhere else for second hand locks. I'm not going to give up by any means, but I think it's going to be as much of a challenge to get a lock collection together as it is to learn the picking itself :D

As of today the cheapest cylinder I can find is $5 instead of 30¢ 😭

I appreciate this video and the practice methods it recommends. Unfortunately I don't have much money to buy locks and I only have 3 right now. What I've been doing after learning a lock is using the different types of picking tool to pick it again. It definitely changes the difficulty and I hope it makes me a better picker in the long run.

I just got a MPXS-11 set does anyone have suggestions on how to know which pics to start with etc. any advise would be much appreciated. I want to be ready for when TSHTF. Thanks

This is the most LPL statement I have ever heard lmao. I totally do the same though. Like if I'm watching a video and want to fidget, I'll grab my Covert Companion, bring out a tray of mixed locks and try ti do EVERYTHING without looking at anything but the video

I don't know what eBay you're talking about, but I can't find a single padlock for under five dollars. Most of them are around $10+ when you factor in shipping.

Hey i got the echelon and Genesis along with the arbitrary set, i also got the practice lock thats sold on the website to start off with. My question is what do u type in exactly to get results to buy those different tubular locks to buy? Was looking at lowes to see cheap locks and each ones like 50 bucks some 15 bucks each.

Was thinking there must be a better way to get locks like u have to practice on. Wasnt sure what good keywords u use to get results.

Sage advice. Curious... have you any interest in the shapes and structure of old keys? (Like open key tops, etc.) Have you examined antique locks? (Stuff made a century ago that used a different philosophy, but to see how they are structured and understand what their failings were--taking into account the era.)

This video was the inspiration to buy an eBay buy that has kept me going for a while. I bought about 40 locks, I go through and then gut and replace the pins. I need to buy another lot of locks, as my skill is increasing and can bust through my 40 locks pretty quickly. All together I bought $100 of locks and 20 dollars in pins. That 120 has gone a hell of a long way in not only picking knowledge but also gutting, switching the pins out, and making the locks harder to pick, not only by using security pins but tricks like a really short pin behind a really long pin. It's been a blast and it is a bit of an obsession at this point. Thanks LPL

To sum it up, get as many locks as can even if its the same type as one you already have, don't get hung/spend to much time on any one lock, always treat it as tho youve never seen and finally if you pick a lock out it away pick another then if you pick it again let be because you've worked back around to it.

To find the lock cylinders you show first what would I death for on eBay? Love this idea but just looking for what those are called

you can also practice in the field and if you picked it, you can take it home as a reward

It's extremely frustrating to spend almost an hour to pick a lock with single pick locking when you know you can just mess around inside the lock with a rake and it will open
