My plan is to retire at 55, I need 12 years of cash to take me to 67, social security age. OMG 12 years of cash is too much!!! well it will help me sleep at night regardless of the stock market, wars, pandemic...whatever. It is not about growth at that time, by the way 12 years of cash will be about a 60% stocks /40% cash portfolio.

We have 6 months cash, 18 months CD’s & Treasury

For a total of 2 years.

The other buckets are

3 years conservative
5…10 years moderate
10…15 aggressive

I reccomend 3-5 years of income in cash. If 2008 happened again you could tap into that .
