Why did this come up when I'm contemplating on repainting my Blood Ravens army?
ОтветитьI like the improvement on your Novitiates, the colour blue helps give you the zenithal finish.
I had repainted some of my old Chaos Space Marines because I didn't like the first colour scheme I've used on them when I started over a decade ago. How I painted them back then helped me improved using some of the same colours for the new Chaos Space Marines models after 2019.
Here's a tip for the week, the Adepta Sororitas models look better.
ОтветитьThese look great. I've never gone back and repainted an army, only stripped the paint and started from scratch. I'm gonna try and do something like this for some of my old nighthaunt models that are looking a bit dull.
ОтветитьRepaint was ABSOLUTELY better! Nice.
ОтветитьI see why you'd do the ochre on top of the black first though: That dark blue looks so transparent, it seems like a nightmare over black. I bet we all have our 'coverage from hell, yet not overpowering' colors to use as intermediate steps when the base coat just turned out wrong, but the intense color we want is just too thin.
I'd have done that with my favorite off-white on the fabric to make the speedpaint pop more, but yours turned out really cool anyway.
"Cohesive at arm's length," is the story of my painting life! I'm not skilled enough to do "museum quality," so that first statement is as good as it gets with me. I enjoy seeing skilled painters like you making videos like this because it gives me hope that even the pros have moments like this where they are totally dissatisfied with their work and try to take it further instead of just settling. Good work as usual, Miss Lyla!
ОтветитьFantastic improvement to the models. I think you previously commented before that you don't like basing, but that's the area I focus on improving for the rest of the army. Good bases cover up a lot of "painting sins" once the models are on the table (I should know 😅).
ОтветитьOh so good. I have some stuff I painted as a teen that I'm thinking of repainting.
ОтветитьIn a nut shell, paint your stuff the right color. (like nutshell brown if so)
ОтветитьThere are other primer colors than black. Army Painter works great in light coats.
ОтветитьI like how what you call bad paint is better than my best work. I’ve never painted an army, but I do want to try, so I got a Sisters set as well. What could possibly go wrong? 😬
ОтветитьOh…and the repaint looks amazing! They are beautiful!
ОтветитьI think they look great now, but they looked really good before as well. The most important thing is you are happy with them though.
Ответитьcathair
ОтветитьCool as always 👍
ОтветитьDamn it now I have to repaint all my armies 🤯 The Vibrate colours look great
ОтветитьThose models are glorious
ОтветитьThis video was very helpful for me in a way that you probably didn’t intend: I’m internalizing the idea that if I make a mistake on my army, I don’t HAVE to strip them to try again 😅
Ответитьid always say write it down lol. I had my test Stormcast model sitting on my desk....and my next model did not turn out the same lol. It was better! But then the one after that did not turn out the same as the previous one haha
ОтветитьThe best thing about listening to your videos, now that I’ve been painting a few years, is that I’m starting to understand shape and color language.
Maybe it’s dumb but when I was a new painter I didn’t understand how you got minis to be so consistently good across so many different models. Now that I see the painting as a series of shapes with hues it opens up options and gives me ideas that I can use across armies.
Thank you so much!
Your neon glow Sisters are incredible. Inspired 🙃
ОтветитьDang, they turned out awesome! Definitely worth it!
ОтветитьAs a Death Guard player, I really want a Sororitas army now, too. And Nids. And Guard.
ОтветитьActually I prefer them as they were.
ОтветитьI have never repainted an army, but I have started over - like bought a couple new boxes of marines to do in the new scheme - part way through. That was expensive... and silly. Love the colors on your Sisters by the way. They look great.
ОтветитьIf no one knows
Jo Sonja magic mix and base medium. A nice inexpensive addition to your arsenal.
I never repaint my armies... because I never finish any^^
ОтветитьLook at the box art, then look at your figures. Speed paint, no plan, want to make the novitiates look less qualified than the hardened Battle Sisters? Eh voila, paint scheme delivered.
ОтветитьSo, genuine question here, do you believe that boob armour on the female warriors is necessary? The question springs to mind following the Amazon/GW debacle over females in the Adeptus Custodes, where if there are women, they are in exactly the same armour as the men. This is actually logical because the gender is second to armour efficiency. I believe the Sisters of Battle have boob armour because in the lore the Ecclesiarchy had to field women as a fighting force to get around the restriction of not fielding men under arms. In addition, they need to look like women in the lore and to the gamers. Otherwise they are running around with shot traps on their chests.
Ответитьgames wokeshop their mehammer army
ОтветитьI'm impressed at how dramatically a squad of minis can change in so few steps. That pink contrast over the orange worked so well. I rarely repaint a model and never repaint an army. I don't know if I'm just lucky to not get it "wrong", or if I just have low standards. 🤣
Ответить---> YT had un-subscribed me from your channel, then recommended your channel.
I have re-subbed.
Excellent work . :)
ОтветитьCan completely relate!! Going back on prior models in the Star Wars Legion and learning how to paint (correctly), I see that thinning has a different look than today, highlighting has improved, etc... I enjoy the older painted models showing the overall journey and progression. If not, I would also have no social life.. :)
ОтветитьWhy does the kickstarter list a clear acrylic front option and also clear shelves in the video when this isn't an actual option?
You'd have to source your own acrylic, which means it's not really part of the kickstarter and even in the optional fully built ones you can pledge for, they themselves don't even bother sourcing the clear acrylic.
🤷♂
Huge improvement
ОтветитьI liked them better before... sorry. I would leave them as some kind of "dark squad" that stand out from the rest of an army. I love the new scheme, but I don't like the repainted minis. I like the video though, so... thank you.
Aaaand I'm a slow painter and I don't play any battle games (I use minis in RPG), so I didn't paint an army not talking about repainting any. This may be the reason I didn't like the repainted models in the first place.
It was lucky that you had a dark basecoat and enough runway to work from. Nicely done.
ОтветитьLooking great! Now the question is, for future additions to the force, will you be able to recreate the cloth without doing what you did before and then layering the speed paint again. I think that might be an interesting follow-up video. You've achieved a better look by layering over the old paint, but that would still influence the final look, so how would you do it without the intermediate steps? I've been in similar situations before and it's always a tough one to deal with.
ОтветитьThe Old one is much more better...need only some dark-braun coloure improve..it is more accurated for Sister theme, look more "climate" and natural for army. New one is for stupid kids, thats like over shinning pastels coloure..aka pink-red etc.... i hate this days painting...all idiots youse this contrast smooth pastels for evry model..no matterit is Brutal Ork or Celestial Angel or DarkElves..some chaos monster etc...its a time this days for destroying hobby scene..of painting...use this all smooth gradients and pastels... YOUR FIRST ARMY COLUR SCHEME ITS TRULLY BETTER..New one looks like "candy" for kids...Sad people this daysnot understand what real painting is, what a good movie is, what a goog game is...its fck lost generation...that have evrything in life..butnot respect nothing aroun it self...SAD AND CRAZY TIMES...
ОтветитьYou’re absolutely right about test models. I typically skip straight to the big-unit painting, thinking the quicker I start, the quicker I finish. WRONG!
And it usual takes more than one test model to get it right: the first is always a mess; the second is nearly there, and the third is production-line finessed.
I have never repainted an army I dont think I ever will. I will keep them as a way to see progress.
ОтветитьOne thing that could be cool one day, if you haven't done it already, is that you make a video showing all the minis you ever painted in chronological order, talking about your progress and what you learned. I'd be very interested in that.
ОтветитьNever repainted an entire army, but I have one single model I've repainted repeatedly in the last 3 years, almost every time I've learned a new painting trick.
ОтветитьI dunno...I can't see your first kill team as a failure. As a stand alone project for how to do a quickly painted kill team for a generic SoB look, I think your original look was good for the MAJORITY of your audience. I think it's healthier to just look at it as a two stage project, Stage one is a generic look for most people and Stage two was personalizing for your favorite look.
ОтветитьWhile I definitely think you did great with making them closer to your main force, I actually really like your original scheme too lol
ОтветитьHow many times I've repainted an army: Zero. It's not that I'm a flawless painter... but done is done. If there's mistakes... well... they're here forever.
ОтветитьEvery time she says breasts my mind wanders to KFC... now i hunger.
ОтветитьThe first paint job was great but the update really pops! I love it
