400 chrysler or a bored and stroked 361 following your descriptor convention. I would like to see how it stacks-up.
ОтветитьWhat is a 400m?
ОтветитьYou know Richard your starting to remind me of that Saturday night live needs more cowbell skit.. but naturally it's ( Needs more Camshaft) in my head! Really do appreciate all this!
ОтветитьSomeone please clear this up for me.
Is it actually called the 400M? Or is it actually just the 400 Cleveland, and the “M” is only applied to the 351M? I thought it was called the 351M because it was a modified stroke 400 Cleveland.
So which is it?
Im doing a 400 build for my '78 f 150 4x4. How does one get hold of MPG?
Ответитьgreat video-love that 400 m super powerful lot of torque
Ответитьbeautiful motor
ОтветитьI have a 1977 Ford LTD Landau with a 400. I'd like to rebuild mine to your first stage of improvements you did with the flattops, 4V intake, carburator, and RV cam you suggested. My question is, at that stage, did you have to do any timing adjustments from the original stock 8° BTDC?
ОтветитьI have a good 400 engine, this makes makes me want to build it
ОтветитьLove the other guys builds the most because it often dispels wives tales 👏👏
ОтветитьThe 400 is not an M motor, the high deck 351 is the M motor. M is for modified, a 400 modified with a 351w crank ford wasn't making 351W fast enough, so they were putting 351W's cranks with hudge , long , rods in them. I love the 400, had one in my 79 F150 , got a couple of thousand miles on it never had any problems with it. Ran it till the frame went bad, bought a 85 F250 with a junk 6.9 in it, rebuilt the 150's drive train , put a cam , intake and a 650 Holley and headers . I put the entire drive train in the F250 what a beast, it's a great engine, with the 4 speed and 4 wheel drive you can't stop it. Pulled out a new Chevy and dodge out all at once, I got so many people who wanted to buy it, not for sale.,
ОтветитьQuestion, I've seen quite a few 351clevelands built to 400 inches, did they waist their money and went with the 400 tall deck?
ОтветитьMy dad had this engine in our 5/8 ton 1977 Ford super cab long bed. Looking back it’s funny that we thought it had a lot of power! He drove that truck for 20 years!
ОтветитьWell that was informative and really kool !
Ответить351M/400 and the 400 big block Mopar are the two most underrated and overlooked American V8 engines because of the smog era .
ОтветитьCool that someone is telling people about these things
ОтветитьMy parents had a 71 country squire LTD, gave it to my brother at about 300,000 miles drove it to about 400,000 miles and sold it, saw it running around town for years.
ОтветитьRuns good on a Dyno, but how long will it hold up in a vehicle.
ОтветитьI loved my 400M in my 79 bronco
ОтветитьI really appreciate your patience in these builds. I love the 351/400M platform and would love to see you bring a 400 M to it's limits boosted.
ОтветитьThere is no such thing as a 400M. Ford did built a 351M. The "M" stood for "Modified". It was a downsized 400. One big reason for the M designation was to prevent people from confusing it with the Cleveland and the Windsor. Ford abandoned the 400 family because of many reasons. Poor Fuel economy and oil pressure being pretty high on the list. Most of them just didn't hold up very well. And the ones that did had very low oil pressure after about 100k. Since. you don't know what you are talking, I stopped watching after the 10th time you said 400M. It's about as dumb as calling a SBC 350, and LS engine. Not sure who runs this channel, but they need to do better research.
ОтветитьCould the 351m really rev higher and easier than the 400?
ОтветитьI thought the M meant it has a 460 bell housing and the C meant small block bell housing bolt pattern?
Ответить400 with 351C heads, 9:1, steel crankshaft and custom rods, forged blower slugs, two turbochargers. You know you want to see if that block will handle 1100+hp and run it on 93 octane. Pure street engine.
ОтветитьFord never called it a 400M. The 335 block was 351M or 400. Ford also never said what the M stood for. Basically it's a really tall (nearly 460) deck height small block with long/heavy rods and pistons....yes, the 335 block is a small block.
ОтветитьI'd like to see an AMC 360 build in the other guys format
ОтветитьWhat is MPG .......?
ОтветитьI have a 351M in my 77 F250 that I rebuilt using a 400 crank. I'm still using the 351 heads on the 400, gives me a little more compression and really woke this thing up. Torque monster!
ОтветитьI had a handful of these in trucks back in the day and the made no power poor gas mileage and threw rods out the block constantly without beating on them..
ОтветитьWith a 400 aftermarket intake fit to the 4v heads? Or will you need the spacers and a Cleveland intake?
ОтветитьI loves my 400m
ОтветитьNo such thing as a 400m.
You’re welcome ‘merican
It's not a '400M'. It's a Ford 400, period, end of sentence, full f__king stop. It is the only 400 Ford ever made, and it was in production from M.Y. 1971-1982.
ОтветитьI need that recipe
ОтветитьTURBO!
ОтветитьI had a400m in my f250 1977 auto 150 hp but 335 pounds of tork 2bl carb ran great never any problems with that motor it was great lot of off roading and towing best motor i ever had
ОтветитьWhat flat top pistons did you use? And was it bored over or stock?
ОтветитьAh, it is good to see all the 400 Ford love. I had begun to think the cult of Chuborlet had comepletely taken over.❤
Ответить400 and 351c run the same Comp Height Pistons..And both run flat top pitons..The pistons sit down the bore 60 odd th, so the Deck needs machining to Zero..Quench heads need 40 th/gasket thickness as clearance to make them Work..The 400 always was a Good motor but the American GOV was run by IDIOTS, saving the earth by reducing Comp Ratios, and advancing camshaft timing..The Oil Co's loved that Idea, Gas Gussling SLUGS..!! We were running 400's in the 80's with 4V closed chamber heads with enlarged Combustion Chambers to relieve them around the Valves and Improve the Flow..Absolute Rockets..!!
ОтветитьWhat rockers were used on this?
ОтветитьI have a D1 casting 400m bolted on aussie heads, modern high energy camshaft, 4bbl intake holley 650 , hei distributor, and other odds and ends and it's a complete animal , on demand melts the tires even w 2.73 gears and it completely twists up on acceleration I have to find cross braces from a mark V lincoln because it twists up the front end on acceleration. If I put 3.50 gears in it it'll be disgusting 🫣. This is in a 79 Ranchero Gt.
ОтветитьIt's not a 400M. It's a 400 period! The 351M is a 400 block with a 351 Windsor crankshaft, which makes it a modified or a 351M. The 400 was never modified and is just a 400.
ОтветитьI had an '81 F-250 with a 351M that I wanted to put closed chamber 4V heads on, but never got around to it. I still have the heads, someday they'll find a home.
ОтветитьCan someone please tell me i got a 400 and a set of 351 cleveland 4v heads i have a chance to get can i run my edobrock 400 intake on the heads or do i need the adapters and a cleveland intake???
Ответитьthere is no such thing as a 400M. the 351M is a modified 400. the 400 is the original, and it's a good engine. it is not bored or stroked cleveland. it is its own engine.
ОтветитьWhere can i get the adapter for the intake for the m400?
ОтветитьLOVE THIS TYPE OF VIDEO!!
ОтветитьI bought a 1975 Gran Torino when I was 14 years old in the 1990s for 400$, had the 400m and 60,000miles on it
ОтветитьIt’s begging for some forced induction 😮
