The shift didn't occur in the last 6 weeks it happened in Jan 24 when the republicans stalled arms to Ukraine on Trump's orders. I'm French. What a shame that the joint France-UK aircraft-carrier project launched in 2003 failed (I don't know the reasons). It would have been a great opportunity for an independent aeronaval, and given the sharing costs, il would have allowed others to be build. Remember, Concorde, jet Sepecat Jaguar, great joint successes.

If EU and the rest of Europe want to save on military spending just support Ukraine until ruSSia collapse and get rid of the threat we have next door. It isn't a very cleaver to not spend money in defense but we could save a bit or at least it won't be so abrupt.
