I went to a food event like this earlier in the year, but it was restaurants, breweries, distilleries, and wineries. Tickets were $30, but then once you got in you had to pay $.50/ticket with a minimum purchase of 50 tickets. But each vendor chose how much to “charge” for their sample. So some samples of around 3oz of beer were 6 tickets. There wasn’t a single sample under 4 tickets. They didn’t make it clear when I bought my entrance ticket and it felt like a rip-off tbh.

Why do these events barely have any tables? Cutting costs much? 🙄

i think my solution to the juggling issue is maybe some sort of tote bag? like throw some more of those take-out containers in there and also give your vendors some extra ones to give out if needed. plus a branded tote bag is a good souvenir

I went to this event in Virginia and other then there being a small sign outside the entrance, the event looked very similar to what you have shown. It was soo much sugar though that I couldn't even try the last 1/4 of the booths that I planned to stop by.

People who had been to similar events were smart and brought large plastic bags to bring the desserts home with them.

The vibe I get from this is that their marketing for this event was poor, and that includes the vendor side as well. Maybe they didn't have more tables because vendors didn't know about it?

Willing to bet money that “nutrition” bakery w the protein donut was an mlm rep. It’s like all those stupid shake shops w nutrition in the name. It’s all powdered Herbalife & preying on ppl. Sounds like a hotel that was not understanding what a NASCAR race was, and had to call in four desk employees at 9 pm on a Friday. There was only one employee in the lobby when people started showing up. It took 2 hours for us to get our room.

I wonder why anyone even participated. Its normal for the tickets to be collected for that exact reason. So they pay to enter and then take on the cost of their wares all to what? Maybe win a 10k prize or just to get their names out...that seems like something you can do for cheaper

5 months later i just wanna say idk why, but I keep coming back to this video and watching it. It's a comfort video for me. Poorly organized dessert cons is apparently what my brain desires when I'm stressed out. This event looks like when I used to make giant single room houses in The Sims and then only put furniture around the edges cuz I was 12 years old and didn't know how to decorate a large space but I knew big houses were good for some reason. All that empty space definitely should have been filled with a bunch of tables to encourage people to get some samples, sit down and eat, go get more samples, repeat.

They should have given yall paper bags with handles.

They should have made "street scapes" of the booths instead of plastering along the edges of a convention centre... with gathering tables dotted along. No chairs but a few stools. I don't even plans events, but is it that hard to find a gay to help, we're everywhere!

Dessert Wars Las Vegas stumbled so that Willy's Chocolate Experience could faceplant.

My husband and I helped out my sister and BIL at this event in Tampa this past weekend. It didn't seem very organized, and it's a shame that the vendors don't get a chance to meet the other vendors or sample their products. Also, we were originally told to enter one area for vendor drop-off/parking, but then were told to go somewhere else to park.

They did have someone dressed up as an ice cream cone, and people were playing cornhole.

Also, the container they gave people was a flimsy styrofoam container. People were having such a hard time carrying all of their samples.

For the mug yeah there's a small bar that for advertising they gave people away Anchor Hocking beer mugs at a taco truck event.

I very much enjoy these videos who have notes for events.

As i always do. And if I don't I'm amazed and send nice emails to the event planners.

idk if it's just a latino thing but I'm surprised nobody seized the opportunity to also provide a coffee table at the event- I have a low sweets tolerance so when i get a pastry or cake i usually have it with black coffee to cut down some of the sweetness.

Celebrate Nutrition is Herbalife, so I understand why that protein donut was.. Weird 😅 That company and their products are horrible

I love the idea of this and if they had this in my city and I got to talk to and learn about local bakers i would love it go.

As a Vegas local who has attended many conventions at that location I can confirm that there is rarely any signage outside and the front parking lot (for the events I've attended) has never been open
