Tim Miller: Why is Trump Making China STRONGER?

As a Brit, I'll say it again: it's all just so Brexity. Only I think it may actually be worse, which is really saying something.

I travelled in China for 11 weeks at the end of 2024, including before and after the US Presidential election. The common saying in China was "Trump will make China great again!", said with a laugh at the apparent incompetence of the President. And it really looks like that is what is happening. However, it started long before now. I've been visiting China since 2006, and have spent more than a year in total in the country. I have seen it transform to apparent parity with the US by 2016, and now it is clearly ahead. Innovation is thriving - not copying or IP theft - genuine innovation that outstrips what is happening stateside. Look no further than the auto industry, which boasts several different models of E-cars that I rode in, which feel as good or better than Teslas, and at much lower prices. Things happen FAST in China. Everything goes at accelerated pace. In the auto industry, manufacturers are coming out with new models every 2 to 3 years, whereas it takes 5 years for American companies to go from conception to manufacture or new models. The race is already over, and China has won. It would be smart of the USA to identify the industries in which it can win, and to supercharge change and development in those industries. If it doesn't, it will be left in the dust of history. China is electrifying the world while Trump chants "Drill, baby, drill!".

Is Galloway trying to change his brand from bro boy to something else, maybe being the Bro against Trump movement leader? unfortunately about a year too late. Hope the bros are happy with their choices in about 3-4 months from now. Oh, wait. They don’t want to be happy. America spent trillions on wars whilst the Chinese invested in tech, infrastructure and it's people. They now dominate global manufacturing and supply chains, not to mention shipping of goods. American corporations exported jobs to China cash in on cheap labour and to access their markets. And all you small government / low corporate taxes Reagan republicans let it happen. Suck it up and stop whining. Trump is there because Wall Street screwed over the working class.

Despite of so called democracy and freedom, the US government works for and is owned by capital.

Chinese didn't have to do anything because they didn't do anything wrong. Us is launching this trade war and unlawfully trying to get something from other countries. This is not good.

China's export to USA is 2.8% of there GNP, it is only six months of growth. China is the constructive force in the world. USA is the destructive force in the world.

So RULE #1 it's better to rebuild your own economies and infrastructure to compete in the next 50 years , focus inwards not outwards... Remember the tariffs are not just so Trump can feel tough. He is the opposite of Robin Hood. It's so he can steal from the poor to give to the rich. All the tariffs are about trying to get money into the US coffers instead of letting billionaires pay their fair share.

The US uses USAID and the NED etc. to propagandise against and undermine foreign governments, whereas China says who your government is, is none of our business, we just want to trade. That's a major reason why they are winning the soft power battle........plus of course they bring infrastructure, something America generally doesn't.

The issue for the United States is whether it can calmly accept the fact that it is heading towards decline, instead of harassing the world everywhere.

The rest of the world looks at the price of goods in the US and then compares it to the price of goods in their own Country - which beyond the currency difference is usually 10 to 12% and sometimes less expensive. The awakening is coming for US consumers thanks to Donald J. Trump - he has even told Americans that they should get used to it and love it. Yeah sure. As a Canadian even on the rare occasion in the past when the CDN dollar was on par with the US dollar goods were still less expensive in the US. What people are not talking about is that the 145% tariffs was intentional to destroy the American farmers. Lets connect the dots. The markets that were destroyed on the exports of farm goods are permanently gone. Not to mention the contract the farmers had with the US Gov that Trump now refuses to pay on. USAID has been demolished which purchased goods from farmers. All these things are bankrupting farmers. Now lets go to just three days ago when 8,000 South Africans were brought to this country and connect the dots to the AcreTrader that JD Vance is an investor. The tariffs and all the mentioned actions are not haphazard but intentional. If our farmers go bankrupt and have to sell their family farms guess who is ready to purchase them? AcreTrader and the 8,000 South Africans that have been given privileged status in the country coming here to escape the legal proceedings in South Africa that are redistributing land back to the native people that was stolen from them after WWII when N8ZI supporters went there to set up a new superior race system there. Trump is now importing superior race ideology thinking people to the US and deporting individuals with too much melanin in their skin. Where is the critical thinking in the media. I alot of people don't realize the stock market made one of biggest recoveries during COVID. That is just what Donald did!! During COVID the economy tanked but the stock market kept rising I expect the same during this administration.

I think the issue you are missing, it is not just folding in all its discussions on tariffs and the problems that Trump himself caused.
It is the issue that USA tore up existing free trade agreements with its allies and metaphorically punched every nation in the face for no reason.
The disregard for all relationships and the continuing threatening language re Canada and Greenland to their sovereignty.
The free world found that typical USA bullying.
We won't stand for it and the US has doe itself a massive disservice.
The world will never forget this treason.

No country is better than America! You can be a sofa potato and 2% automatic inflation every year will double your GDP in one generation. Trump has the sense to know that something needs to be done to stop American decline and the rise of China. It just that he's at a loss as what to do and what action to take. In truth there's nothing that can be done, as with all declining empires it's time has simply past. The good news is that from Latin America, the middle east to Asia the world might just enjoy a period of peace and prosperity as a result.

The reality is that governments are not altruistic when it comes to foreign affairs. Previously, American administrations could be looked at to always do what was best for America. The current administration will always do what is best for Trump and America be damned.

These guys love China.
