Huge update on the Komodo Dragons though, some scientists are 100% sure that the dragons are not venomous or carry deadly bacteria inside their saliva. Perhaps that will make contribution to the study of Megalonia as well

I would dispute the title as a bit far-fetched and inaccurate. :)

Note that Komodo dragons don't hunt by biting prey and waiting for it to die as often assumed (they outright take down prey by ripping at it with serrated slicing teeth to quickly bleed it out and cripple it), and that this would apply to megalania as well.

A shame this thing didn't survive humanity. Australia needs its native apex predators back.

Wasn't aware there were Whites in Australia back then. Pretty pale for an Aboriginal😂

Is it the most dangerous predator humans ever faced though?
Aborigines managed to defeat them with their advanced technology...the stick.
Lions, tigers, sharks, bears, crocodiles, anacondas, etc. are all still around and eating people to this day. They seem to be much more resilient to sticks. We've had guns and stuff for a good while now too. They still manage to keep eating us.
Polar bear gets my vote for most dangerous predator humans faced.

Just once I'd like to hear a scientist to say, "We don't know much about it, but with more and more fossil evidence, I'm certain we will discover that this species was incredibly boring." 😜

We would not survive trying to live with this outside.
Different predators can't share the same space.
They have to become food, survival of the fitness, enough said.
I don't see why someone would think that ruining someone, helps themselves. Is
They are human too, that's called self hatred.
STOP, if you hate, they will hate you back.
Everyone has family and friends; they all can hate you too.
Together we win.😊

It crazy these animals lasted for millions of years. Within the past few hundred years humans have managed to wreck the planet with the combination of greed and technology. And some call that progress. 😂😂

The fires mentioned were not for land management, they were set to destroy this lizard and the land croc and provided a meal for the whole tribe. Sharp sticks were not a preferred weapon against these monsters but fire was.
