Dear Thom, the many beautiful guidance of ALlah SWT in the Al Qur'an in surah Al- Hujurat; among others, ALlah command to paraphrase: Muslims are not allowed to reveal or expose or declare to anyone or publicly all the wrong doings, missteps and sins he/she has committed and repented. ALlah say keep it/them ie the wrong doings, sinful acts privately to your own knowledge; just btwn the wrongdoer and ALlah. ALlah is All-Knowing of all our actions, good or bad, but the latter once repented, just keep them to yourself. Don't go telling others because ALlah say He's All-Merciful, Forgiving, ALlah cover with "a veil" over the bad deeds one has repented. It's all in Surah 49, Hujurat (The Chambers).😢

Islam is actually LIMITING men to only having 4 wives, because not that long back in the days, men were having limitless numbers of wives, some even in the hundreds. So outside the war context, islam is putting limits and boundaries into a hedonistic lifestyle. Also, allowed doesnt mean that it is advised. Even in the qur'an it is said that if a man can not be fair to multiple wives, and it is almost impossible to do, then it is BEST to have only one.
