Jason and Julie

Jason and Julie were married
In Texas a few years ago.
Together since then they determined
They wanted their family to grow.
To keep all the naming consistent,
They all would begin with a “J.”
There’s Jude, and there’s Jaynie, and Jonah,
Another one now on the way.

They wanted to have a large family,
Quite willing to do their own part.
There’s J. B. and J. B. and J. B.
Yes, they’re off to quite a good start.
We wonder how many are coming.
Perhaps there’ll be twins, don’t you know,
They’ll all have initials of J. B.
I think that’s the way it will go.
[The original song (above) was written on 12/21/04.]

Six months have passed since I wrote this.
There’s one thing that I’ll like to say.
There’s Jude, and there’s Jaynie, and Jonah,
And Jillian’s with us today.

[Before I had an opportunity to present the original song to them, the fourth child had been born and so I had to include Jillian. I wrote the section above on a napkin on 7/2/05 while waiting in line to eat at Hopestock. After the meal there was a group of adults who shared stories about others in the group. I sang all of the lines that I had written up to this point and presented Jason and Julie with a copy of the original song.]

I wrote a separate song for Jeremiah instead of adding his name to the original song.

The story of Jason and Julie
Continues right up to today.
The fifth child they named Jeremiah.
The sixth child arrived just this May. [5/30/10]

Josephine Brown was the youngest,
Then another J. B. came to stay.
Yes, Joel is the name of the seventh
All seven whose names start with “J.”

It’s been a long time now since Texas.
In Virginia they just could not stay.
Missouri’s the home of this clan now
All their first names begin with a “J.”
[9/8/17]
Can be sung to the tune of “My Bonnie,” by H. J. Fuller
